TALKCOIN TEAM ANNOUNCEMENT

Please read here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=619210.msg8721298#msg8721298

For the original thread please go here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=573998.0

First NIST5, First Anonymous Chat

Launched 4th May 2014 / No Premine / No IPO / No Instamine

Talkcoin (TAC) is a new digital currency that lets users chat in decentralized public / private chat rooms securely and anonymously.

Talkcoin delivers next-gen privacy, security and anonymity, built on Bitcoin's decentralized blockchain and encryption technology to make sure no one can spoof, block, delete, modify or snoop on your private communications and so you can access them any time from anywhere.

Other chat systems require servers or a direct connection to the users you want to chat with, Talkcoin is the first totally decentralized communication system.

For more background information on Talkcoin, visit the original Dev's thread.

Currency Information

Talkcoin is a currency for storing value, exchange and secure communications.

Each chat message has a small TAC fee, all fees are paid back into the TAC economy by being destroyed in the genesis block.

This reduces TAC supply and increases velocity, which creates demand and delivers value to investors.

To avoid problems from block halving making mining unprofitable and ensure enough TAC are available for messaging, Talkcoin has a decentralized vote feature so twice per week users can vote to adjust block reward up or down by 10%.

Talkcoin was released on 4th May 2014 and (as of 4th August) total supply is ~7 million TAC, and block reward has been reduced from 25 TAC per block to ~15 TAC.

NIST5

Talkcoin designed the NIST5 hashing algorithm to provide a better combination of power efficiency and security than existing algorithms.  NIST5 chains the 5 final round candidates for the National Institute of Science and Technology's  SHA-3 hash competition, which were all selected for their performance & security (BLAKE - Grøstl - JH - Keccak - Skein).  NIST5 excludes algorithms eliminated from the final round for security and performance concerns such as CubeHash, Luffa, simd, Shavite-3, ECHO as found in X11 and Hamsi and Fugue added in X13.  For more information on the NIST competition see here: http://nvlpubs.nist.gov/nistpubs/ir/2012/NIST.IR.7896.pdf

Mining Guide

(for beginners, see: https://www.facebook.com/talkcoin/posts/716997875027964)

Talkcoin uses NIST5 so miners need:

  • Talkcoin's NIST5 port of SGMiner: http://talkcoin.org/talkcoin-miner.zip
  • Set your kernel -k to 'talkcoin'
  • Intensity can be set higher than other algorithms
  • Thread concurrency, shaders, gpu threads should be set as normal

Example Config
Talkcoin SGMiner command line example:

Code:
sgminer.exe -k talkcoin -o http://127.0.0.1:8000 -u user -p x

Hi hoks,

Block reward is decided by user vote and can be between 0-50 TAC.

Block explorer is here: http://talk.cryptocoinunion.com/

Talkcoin source is on github here: https://github.com/talkcoin/

Any settings guidance for this new Algo?

Currently getting 3.6Mh/s per 270x Toxic just Intensity 21.

Here are my usual settings for x11:

 -I 13 -g 2 --thread-concurrency 8192 --gpu-engine 1250 --gpu-memclock 1500 --no-submit-stale --expiry 1 --queue 0 --scan-time 1 --gpu-powertune 20

Thanks.

The new generation have arrived and they brought their own currency...

Here are my usual settings for x11:

 -I 13 -g 2 --thread-concurrency 8192 --gpu-engine 1250 --gpu-memclock 1500 --no-submit-stale --expiry 1 --queue 0 --scan-time 1 --gpu-powertune 20

Thanks.

That's really good for a 270x.  I get around 2.9MH on a ASUS CU2 270x, I don't think you will get much more than 3.6MH.

My config for 270x in CGWatcher:

"intensity" : "23",
"worksize" : "256",
"kernel" : "talkcoin",
"lookup-gap" : "2",
"thread-concurrency" : "8192",
"gpu-threads" : "1",
"gpu-engine" : "1000-1000",
"gpu-memclock" : "1500",

When I try to build on Linux Mint 16, I get this error
Makefile:18: build_config.mk: No such file or directory
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/qt4/bin/uic src/qt/forms/aboutdialog.ui -o build/ui_aboutdialog.h
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/qt4/bin/uic src/qt/forms/editaddressdialog.ui -o build/ui_editaddressdialog.h
make[1]: *** No rule to make target `build_config.mk'.  Stop.

Edit. Fixed the error.
I made ./talkcoin-wallet/src/leveldb/build_detect_platform executable.
