I couldn't care less what the dev does with the pre-mine so long as the project delivers, which it has been doing.
I highly doubt a programmer of Dan's caliber and real world experience would be working his ass off for this coin if there wasn't a pre-mine.
This. Plus Dan has already stated he is also using the premine to help fund development.

Can anyone tell me more about the premine? I see that it is on the address: XS4QLi6VpQQo79HLkoFBj5YZkn6p6TuLKG and current balance is 76797.637446. It state that 1261026.235632 was received and 1184228.598186 was sent. How come that large volume? And where can I find a motivation for every transaction? I'm just quite afraid of large premines after being scammed before, and the value of this is currently 210 btc ~= $133,770. That is pretty much and can easily ruin the market if being dumped.
Based on your previous post, it does appear your question is legitimate and you probably did get burned by Silk, however this is a much different coin. You can read through my post if you like as someone looking at this from a traditional investing standpoint for more detail, however here are the big picture highlights of why this is different and has a bright future: *Small initial premine that was transparent. Some of this is used as promotion, but also there is enough to make it worthwhile to see this to fruition. *Dev has under promised and over delivered each and every deadline. This is documented. I expect starting tomorrow this will continue. *Anonymity is fully functional and state of the art. A bounty was given with the last release and was not claimed. *Dev Team is also transparent with years of experience and great resumes *Amount of coins is set, mining is complete. A 3.3% year "dividend" will be distributed. This will not cause dilution of the coin. *The older this coin gets the more mature it has become. The logo, the communication, the PR push and I suspect tomorrow the new wallet and website will be great. The community is cohesive and understands this may be the one to be the Facebook to Myspace and could push Bitcoin for global acceptance in the future. The end game is an accepted world wide currency that offers other platform services. I hope to tell my grandchildren someday that I was part of the early community of XC. As I have stated in the past, I will continue to believe in the fundamentals and hold until a I see a deviation in the plan. Reading through many other coin threads, this is the only one I found that continues to deliver and deliver. The team sees this as a true currency and has a solid plan thats being executed instead of a whitepaper full of hopes and dreams with a couple of kids in an apartment or dorm room hoping to make some quick cash. +100 This is all XC is about!

The progress made so far has been nothing short of spectacular. I actually never gave the pre-mine too much weight. One can argue that the premine is worth a lot to worry about.... But what if the dev just never cared? How much would the premine be worth now? The man hired at least 3 or 4 coders to further advance the coin (if my memory serves me still), nothing comes for free... Edit: There are early miners who just mined on faith from the start and have a lot more than the premine....Lucky "basterds" lol You should fear "CryptoG" and "BrewCrew" more

I was debating between CLOAK and XC. CLOAK is fumbling through a fork as we speak and I was thinking about buying into that, but after hearing in their IRC chatroom that the dev has family over and can't attend to the current crisis they're having, I bought XC instead. Can't wait to see what happens with this one.
I own both but cloak has a market cap of less than 1/5th of XC which is hard to compare and will have a very different risk/reward prospect for new investors. Also impressed with the transparency if a dev is willing to communicate issues without remaining silent like many others. I believe both coins offer unique functions of which there is a demand and a high probability of success. Good luck to all pioneers!

The premine is being used to fund xc, as well as Dan's personal funds. Our team's name is out there and you can find out more: http://xc-official.com/XCPlatform/14-06-16%20Team%20Announcement%20D.pdf . I personally have a proven track record of trustworthines, before xc and dan was a member on here before xc. I believe that we have gained another trust where this no longer an issue to many people. Also, Dan mentioned that it was split into smaller address to help with staking. just to confirm -- I see you sold most of your coins at 240.. must suck.. not too late to buy back before we push pass 003. See post from ATCSecure.. the address is also used for staking my friend.. not to worry.. just buy! https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=630547.msg7057964#msg7057964I sold 7K of my stash back in the day for like 6K lol

I won't engage in further discussion about coins other than XC but what you said about names is rubbish. I look at the top coins with the largest market cap and they all have shocking/laughable names.

Guys, does anybody know, 1. When rev.2 multipath will be released? 2. When source of XC coin will be opened?
Maybe an official roadmap on official site is available? Couldn't find it.

He posts here when hes not out networking or writing code. Trust me, he is busy.

Hi all
Just to let you know that pratico has now sent me his first $500 donation for the paid Rev 2 press release!
You can confirm the payment here: 19G6JSgvGDHeeRwJDuZhpeXUMMiQP2X3oc
I then exchanged it for USD and sent it to the MasterCard that will pay for the release. The transfer fee was 3% and so the resulting amount in USD is $486.87.
I'll use driv3n's $100 donation to cover the outstanding amount (which is what I did for the previous press release). Thanks again Driv3n!
An enormous thanks to pratico for such a substantial contribution toward sending XC moonward.
Hurrah!

Remember that if the community donates a total of $500 for a paid release for Rev 2.5, then pratico will donate ANOTHER $500! We're not too far off the target. By all means, donate $20, or whatever you see fit, and let's put XC into the mainstream. Here's the idea: - buy XC
- have some money left over to donate to XC's PR
- watch the donation make your trade go to the moon
