Even if you use Bitcoin through Tor, the way transactions are handled by the network makes anonymity difficult to achieve. Do not expect your transactions to be anonymous unless you really know what you're doing.

i need help.
You should just open the exe again from the zip (or unpack it somewhere). It's the roaming map that is stored on your pc and here is the wallet.dat located. This map is a secret map so you have to change settings to see it. Always safe your wallet.dat before removing things

Did you guys see Mintpal was hacked for VRC? All the more reason to keep your coins off exchange when ? Yeah, also they only attacked vrc balances? Probably rather stupidly I have my XC spread over several exchanges....but the windows walletr is fine and working isn't it? Can I download from official XC website? Is there a step by step guide for dumb people like me I clicked on the middle link here and extracted it....wallet is syncing it seems http://downloads.xc-official.com/release/windows/Can I stake from that wallet?

Yup, the important ones that I have are stashed behind multiple layers of security and aren't being touched for a long time.

For all we know, the Vericoin hacker is trying to target other hot wallets. Even if Mintpal patched the original security hole, doesn't mean there aren't more holes a pro hacker can't find. Additionally, the less XC there is on Mintpal, the less damage it will do to XC if a hacker gets all of the XC on there. I would rather they get 5% of all XC than 35% of all XC.

however we have been working with the VRC developers and all major exchanges to hard fork the coin at a position before the attack. This will allow us to retrieve the stolen coins and facilitate all withdrawals. We are also working with various exchanges to accommodate any losses they may encouter as a result of the required fork.
Can they really do that?

So much inverse fud. The last pump was coordinated. The current price is a bit inflated. Crypto is a near-sighted endeavor. Why leave dead money for weeks when you can double up on a much cheaper coin in a day or so?
Or to lose your BTC on another shitcoin. Look at those P&Ds, when you see it pumpin, its already too late. People have lost money in XC. You can lose money in any coin buying at the top of a downward trend. Every coin is a P&D assuming you have the capital to be able to manipulate the price. I've doubled up on coins that were well into a pump. I wonder sometimes if some of you really believe the things you post. The longer threads on this forum seem less like civilized discourse and more like idol worship.

I am syncing the latest OSX wallet. It looks fine but can I just ask - it's a'ok for putting transferring all my xc to the wallet now? Or should I use an older version?
