1.Okay a very well known problem is that people try to send xmr out of their wallets and they cant because the tx is too large. This may happen even if you try to send a small amount of coins like even 1xmr. The problem is there because of the implementation of the current pools. They send too much dust because they pay with every block found. The problem is known and devs working on fixing it.
For now the only solution is to try and send smaller amounts. If 1 xmr is too big try 0.5. Of course this way you pay more fees but we are screaming in the thread for weeks that you should mine in smaller pools! This way less blocks are being found and payouts are less frequent but bigger. And because you dont have to pay many fees income should be bigger. STOP MINING IN BIG POOLS AND MINE IN SMALLER POOLS! AT LEAST DONT MINE AT THE BIGGER ONE...



2.Another problem is that people send XMR and while it is sent from the their wallets the tx never reaches miners so it looks like it is lost. Most times the problem is that people use old versions of monero. You should have the latest version! The old version had smaller fees so if you sent xmr with old version you dont pay miners and transaction never gets through. However maybe someone with the old version will mine a block and you transaction will appear after some hours or days. You coins arent lost. And as far as i know even if it doesnt gets through try to delete blockchain and redownloaded it. Also use an older backup of your wallet. And your coins will be back at your wallet.


3.There are problems with bitmonerod killing your internet connection. While this problem still exists it is going to be fixed in the next update.



4.Many people asking about never receiving coins on their exchange. Exchanges for now use 1 wallet for all the users. So they need a payment id in order to know who send the coins they received. If you dont put the payment id on the transaction the exchanges will receive the coins but you wont have them in your account. For fixing this problem try to talk with the exchange devs and operators. They will probably ask you for the tx, number of coins etc... Payment id can be found at every exchange just under the payment address...


I will gather more problems and revise what i write so it is more easy to understand. For now thats the most common problems. Will post some links later and some more problems and fixes. This was a post written in a hurry! its saturday night after all

P.S. Always, and i mean ALWAYS backup your wallet when you create it! Also test that you know the password before you send any coins....

Also, how do I send my monero from 1 wallet to another?

In the 'simplewallet' window, type 'transfer w x y z'    , without the ' '

w = the number of transactions you would like yours to be indistinguishable from. called the 'mixin' count. Higher numbers = higher fees and larger size of transaction in bytes. 1-3 seems pretty good. 0 if you'd like to only have a stealth address.

x = the address you want to send to (longer string)

y = the actual amount you want to send

z = the transaction id. this is used so that exchanges can track who is who because they use one wallet to collect all incoming transfers. it is shorter than the wallet address. this is not required, and can be left blank for regular transactions. It is required for sending to an exchange though (or any shared wallet that's technically not just yours)

Do I need to have every single rig of mine synchronized with the existing blockchain in order to mine the coin ?

If you would like to solo mine, yes all machines must be synchronized and running the daemon.

If you would like to pool mine, you can go to any of the pool pages listed in the original post and download the software and follow the instructions on how to set it up on that pool site. Please consider a pool built from source provided by zone117x (I think Wolf0 and mindless just opened one). You will not need the daemon running or synchronized for pool mining. In fact, you won't even need simplewallet or monero software at all (besides the mining program) on every single mining computer. Just need an address to mine to .. so one computer.

I have been looking for Linux GUI wallet for Monero. Great to see there is some activity to create such.

I tried these.

Unfortunately I was unable to make them work yet. Bitmonerod and simplewallet did not work either, I had problems in updating the blockchain.

When do you think there would be available a Linux-GUI-Wallet for Monero? It would be great if there was everything, like daemon, GUI and all other necessary files in one downloadable zip-file to make installation as easy as it could be.

Recently i tried to compile Monero on my VPS running Ubuntu 14.04, got following error when running bitmonerod:

I was using root account. Compiled simplewallet seems to work fine.

Edit: I downloaded Linux binaries on monero.cc, got same error with bitmonerod.

Just wondering, its all fine to delete the bitmonerod.log & simplewallet.log files in my /monero wallet folder? there 14gig together, its hell of a large log file.?

i know now what the problem was, i've downloaded the latest version of wolf miner and after that it didn't work,
now i'm mining on the older version again and it works fine without any errors.

I cant seem to open my wallet in simplewallet, the name I use must be incorrect, but I see no file in the build/release/src folder that matches the address of my original wallet, as shown in the simplewallet log. When attempting to open said wallet, it just generates a new one, which would be fine, but I had some coin in the original one. Any way to recover the wallet name? on Ubuntu 14.04

If you don't see a .bin.keys file with the name of your wallet, then it somehow got deleted. This can't be recovered, just like if you lost wallet.dat in Bitcoin.

In the future, always back up the .bin.keys file somewhere safe right away after creating the wallet.

Found it, backed it up. It was in the home folder, odd that some were generated in the src folder. Something I did I guess, oh well. Thanks for the help. Since the new ones where generated in the /bitmonero/build/release/src/ where simplewallet is, I assumed that's where they belonged, moved the wallet over there and it said new wallet generated, went back to the home folder, and there was the new one. Copied the original back to home, and all better.

Yes! Patience! You just have to wait and it will unlock itself. An unlock balance equals unspendable coins.

I've been mining and using monero and aeon (another cryptonote coin) no problem, but yesterday my ISP throttled my download speed to around 20 KB/sec and now it seems I can't sync Monero or Aeon blockchain. They seem to be syncing same as usual, but the blocks left keeps increasing slowly, instead of decreasing.

Is that to be expected with a slow connection like this?

I just started using moneta verde and that managed to sync ok, since it's so young I assume?

you need to type in the payment id only when you are transfering moneros to an exchange like poloniex mintpal or bittrex, you will find the payment id there.
