Maybe try this pool. Smiley

Why aren't more people using http://cryptonotepool.org.uk/ ?
It donates all it's fee to the devs. Easy choice! Great uptime and everything. Get on it people!

Couldn't have said it better myself. No reason not to do it!

I think Monero (XMR) is very interesting.

According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

I posted a public AMI on Oregon region called XMRminer. It has Wolf cpuminer and tsiv ccminer already compiled and ready to go.

There should be .sh files in home directory that you can edit to connect to pools for the two miners, and the compiled miners are also in the home directory. I usually get about 400-500 h/s for the cpu and gpu combined. Let me know if you have any questions or anything.

If you'd like to send me a few XMR, can do so here:

Code:
49jkaP1xDZrEYaWxtoToPzitbQh6Z7Vv8c3MwtP49wsZhJUR5VojrxcKgb76zT8XRU5AAWHVptx4RgxgLb5fX7iM2vBSKXA

Edit: You need to run this command after launching instance to tell ccminer where cuda libraries are (probably should have put this in init.d or something in retrospect):

Code:
sudo ldconfig /usr/local/cuda-5.5/lib64

I'm not sure you understand, this is for an amazon elastic cloud compute instance that already has miners ready to go. Anyway, the source code for the miners I used can be found here:

https://github.com/tsiv/ccminer-cryptonight

I can try with a Nvidia GeForece 9500 GT if you are interested ... but for this I will have to charge you 2 XMR because it's a pain in the ass to wait for the blockchain to download and synchronize Tongue

Let me know if you are still curious! Tongue

p.s can I use some script asic to mine monero? like one from https://www.miningrigrentals.com/rigs/scrypt

serje, Scrypt rigs mine Scrypt coins.

Monero is a CryptoNote (cryptonight) coin.

So, the answer is NO, you can't.  No trick in the world of books will make it work.

I have to post this here because well, its important .. New daemon and nodejs optimizations we have implemented will put MONERO.RS pool ahead of all other pools! Keep an eye on our pool blocks page !

Unique features info. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=758961.0

They both work for win7, and they both have binaries available. For ccminer-cryptonight, just go to the release tab on the github page I linked. You need to have newish nvidia card and driver. For the wolf cpu miner, just google "wolf cpu miner" and it should be like the first link that pops up. Here, I did it for you:

You can't mine it directly but you could mine whatever Scrypt coin has the best relationship between difficulty and exchange rate into XMR, and then trade it. Poloniex has several markets where you can trade other coins for XMR. I doubt renting a rig, mining, and trading is going to be more profitable than simply trading directly into XMR in the first place, but it is possible.

mineXMR.com now supports mining directly to an exchange! To do this, you need to use EXCHANGE_WALLET_ADDRESS.payment_id as your username, and when looking at your stats. The payment threshold for exchange addresses is currently 10XMR, due to the tx fee increase. The payment threshold for all other addresses remains the same at 0.5XMR, and the fee is the same for any address - just 0.5%! We have also now have DDOS protection, and we still support mining to ports 80 and 443, so start mining with us today  Smiley

It is good to see pools take action and implement new features.

I myself mine at monero.rs, they support payment to an exchange and many many other features, including individual and aggregate statistics (I can monitor individual rigs). I suggest you implement this feature as well if you want to compete with the competent Smiley

Hello, I am new with XMR and don't know what type of rig do I need for XMR mining. As I understood XMR is a scrypt coin yes? Now Can I use a scrypt rig for that? I have a 30 MH asic scrypt miner. Can I use that for XMR? how much XMR  a day will have?

The algo is cryptonight.
It is impossible to mine XMR with a ASIC.

Then what type of rig should I buy or have?
Where to buy/rent ?
where to calculate it's income.
