Buy Symbol (XYM) before it explodes? LOTS going on -- join XymCity discourse to get caught up: https://discord.com/invite/xyncity

It's already up 400% in a month. Do you really see that as a buying opportunity?  Roll Eyes

Absolutely. XYM was pretty much dead quiet from July to September -- to the point that even I was beginning to have my doubts.. Yet the sleeping dragon is once again rustling. Check out the discord channel.. Big things in the works. XYM is still seriously undervalued.. Take a look at NEM's price charts, and consider that XYM is NEM's multi-year Catapult project, effectively NEM 2.0. It's launched, but not all systems are online as of right now. There is also a recent explosion of community participation paired with a looming 180 degree shift in the XYM's political / power dynamics.

Does anyone know why the amount in circulation of XYM on Coinmarketcap is significantly lower than XEM (5,58 bln vs 8,99 bln)? According to the snapshot, there should be exactly the same amount in circulation, right?
I've been wondering for some time why XYM, although significantly higher in price, is positioned somewhere on rank 200, while XEM is among the top 100.
Or is it just a wrong representation with Coinmarketcap.ccom?

Yes because not everyone claimed ther XYM with thier XEM yet. Its likely that those that have not claimed will not.

This is part of the story, but there's more to it. The transition to XYM burned a billion NEM - https://symbolplatform.com/tokenomics/
"XYM has a fixed maximum supply of 8,999,999,999 tokens. On release, initial supply was 7,842,928,625 tokens, allocated to users based on XEM holding at Snapshot. Another 1,157, 071,374 XYM was created for inflationary rewards over time. The inflation rate is closely mapped to that of bitcoin, extending out over the next 100 years. Similar to mining rewards, Symbol’s rewards will be released to each block creator but based on a POS+ (Proof of Stake+) system."

I'm actively harvesting, which is giving something like 2% monthly returns on my staked XYM.. Harvesting rewards are a massive incentive now -- never were for NEM.

4000 chars available and all I got was this stupid tagline.

Over 1 billion is being held for harvesting, the other I believe is the Developer stack combined with late opt-ins.

this token caught my attention a bit
I also saw that this token is not listed on Binance yet (https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/symbol/markets/) but has been listed on other big exchanges

buying a little of this token before listing on Binance would be very good

I don't quite understand. Regardless of whether these coins are used for harvesting, it should mean that they exist, otherwise they cannot be used for harvesting. But why are they not shown in the statistics if they exist? Therefore, it makes more sense to me that the discrepancy between the 5.6 billion and 8.9 billion is due to the fact that these coins have not yet been claimed. But then the question arises, what happens to the coins that are not claimed? Could not find any info on this. Will they be burned, used for a development fund or for something else?

https://twitter.com/NEMofficial/status/1456609275610996749

Today, we're announcing the Harlock hardfork for #NEM - allowing nodes to explicitly signal their support for #NEM to be a subChain of #Symbol.

https://twitter.com/NEMofficial/status/1456609282405797891

All node operators are encouraged to carefully review the philosophy and links laid out within this document.

Should they support this future direction, signaling is as easy as upgrading your node to v0.6.98.

In addition to the Harlock hardfork, #NEM is now officially out of BETA...and open-source!  Grin Grin Grin

For NEM this was the coincheck hack, with is not clear why you underestimate this.  There was a clear statement from the community.

Symbol is not quite the same as NEM.. Not all XYM was minted at launch.. Think Bitcoin -- not all 21M exist yet. Each block produces more -- same with XYM.

##############
Also - for any NEM Node operators still watching this thread, please review the above post on the new fork and UPGRADE YOUR NODE if you support it (which you should)!

" People who were involved in NEM Group and the NEM Group Trust do not engage on social media - hell, some of the largest #NEM SuperNode aren't even on Twitter. So, you adapt. You meet people on their terms.

As a leader, you go to people - not force them to you. "

How would you describe the ending of the NEM Forum?

" The whines of contention about the developers' new direction come from the core of the problem in the NEM ecosystem, places where scam & scandal are prized. That's what we reject. Thank you for making your voices heard. Good riddance to you. "

Actually, I wanted to hold back and not comment any more.
But with such a moronic contribution from one of these so-called "xymbassadors", one is horrified and wonders in which direction this blockchain is developing.
This was a former employee of NGL. So part of the problem if I understand this correctly.
From the core of the problem(NEM ecosystem) there is actually no trustworthy information coming out at all for the normal NEM/symbol user. Neither from one side nor the other.
We have a lot of allegations here. This is one of the big problems.
And this defamation of all past and present NEM users , by a former paid NGL employee, is a disgrace.

PS:
And yes, Allnodes has, thankfully, made exactly the right decision in the meantime.
A pool should provide the infrastructure and nothing more.
It is unclear to me why the core devs had no reservations about this before ....

I would prefer all NEM / Symbol members to have a reason to rejoice.

After this failed fork, there is a need for discussion.
You can see very clearly here that a fork for unnecessary votes is not the ideal way.
This is simply another unnecessary waste of time and resources.
We should think about how to find a better way for the future.

I am very surprised at how simple errors have crept in. This would not have happened in the past.

There were times when only certain files were exchanged.
    nem-core-0.6....-BETA.jar
    nem-deploy-0.6....-BETA.jar
    nem-infrastructure-server-0.6....-BETA.jar
    nem-peer-0.6....-BETA.jar

Then the server was restarted and so on.
Things that a core dev should actually know. Sry.

But this is not necessarily to be seen as criticism of the people involved.  It simply raises various questions.
Does it make sense to risk the integrity of the network every time for a vote in the community?
This is not about technical forks that are necessary for the network.

Calling all #NEM nodes! v0.6.100 is here!

This client upgrade introduces NEM's Harlock hard fork at block height 3,481,580. This is considered a mandatory upgrade for all operators.

"Burn this shitcoin to the ground"

Pontifier's curse still works in case of that project.

And XYM? It was exelent pump and dump made two weeks after significant BTC top. Just like it was in first days of January 2018.

Now is the waiting for transition of rule to ETH from "Bitchcoin" formerly known as BTC Cheesy

I thought that cryptomania will end in Autumn, but i see some signs that manipulators can make some final pump with top in February/March.

I dont expect much from NEM, i will buy some stack of XYM of course in these days (maybe some listings will be good opportunity to sell higher), but i prefer other projects with more publicity and hype, not only in Japan.

MATIC is one of the chosen by me Wink

Cheers

You will see the same evidence of problems that existed many years ago.

I can only agree with you on that. Unfortunately, NEM somehow missed the chance to create a real new beginning after the introduction of Symbol.
Fortunately, I sold all my NEM shortly after the snapshot. I still hold some XYM, but if things keep going the way they are, I'll be dumping those soon as well. It's a great pity, NEM/Symbol always had a very good product technologically.
