so, they release S2 and now they stop producing it and they are going to release S3?? what about those how payed 1800$ for S2?? omg :/ not me but just wondering.

S2 EOL price ... $1850 - $400 coupon = $1450 shipped ... / 2 ( 1T vs 500GH ) ... = $725 for S3

@ $600 per BTC = 1.25 BTC initial price...my guess... Grin

It does not have to be this way. If they have a large production capacity and their cost per miner is $100+$80-100 average mail=$180-200, then they can give themselves a nice 100% margin and still be at $360-400. What's wrong with this approach. Fine, 125% margin and be at $500 (0.85 BTC).
Instead, always this "nickel and dime"ing with mining manufacturers.

I  completely agree, it does not have to be that way but just because we see it that way does not mean they do, unfortunately.

you don't know this for sure. Competitors has to be taken into account and getting rid of competitors by a stronger company by lowering the price is a well-honed technique.
Edit: Frankly, i don't care this much. I can just buy BTC for now and reconsider later.

s2 was always overpriced per GH because:
1. It has the box that can be used easier in Dc
2. It has power supply, so you don't have to procure it.

After all these pages of speculation, I'm guessing a lot more thought has gone into the S3 pricing on this thread than there is at Bitmain Corp. HQ.
These guys probably took 30 seconds to come with a price 2 weeks ago and that's what they will go with.

LOL. True.

However, we don't know, therefore (as speculators) we MUST speculate.  Grin

I agree they will probably price it a little higher than 1 BTC, even if it's a little on the expensive side, because they're probably still ramping up. If you only got so many to sell, you want to maximize revenue on those.

Do the things you know you must do first, then worry about the stuff you're not sure about.

Every batch has sold out in record time.

Pricing is decided by manufacturing cost    plus    market demand.  Roll Eyes

First batch will be to TEST THE GROUND.They know after s1 success s3 might be another game changer.

But again, we have BTC and they don't so price is really in our hands.
if price will be acceptable they will leave it at the high level.
If not and people will not buy s3 they will wait and drop the price accordingly to end user happiness.

My guess is that they had s3 project long before s2 but no chips so they was waiting.

s1 is bulletproof and anyone can say that. So why not create again s1 in skin of s3?

First batch will be a test which will finish really quick.
But if any of us want low price just stick to the price you ready to pay and watch how your order will fulfill.

Back to the upgrade kit

Does anyone know how many S1 blades an S1 control board will connect?
There are plugs for only 2 blades, but can this be expanded?

My first s1 i bought i send straight to ebay. Before listing end i had BTC in wallet and nice profit on that miner.

The same they doing now. with this difference more they produce, cheaper it is for them.

For normal me or you s3 still looking as good, cheap gear. home mining slowly dying.

If the difficulty keeps growing at 19% every 12 days, and we hit the wall at 20 nanometer chips, the S47 will be the size of the death star in 2020.
Which pool will rule the galaxy...       -SHA256 WARS-   now casting...

don't worry about that because we will have gravity chips that run on gravity waves produced by laser light that travel the speed of thought which is instant.

Totally agree.. said this a couple pages ago - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=656461.msg7416372#msg7416372

I really would like to see Bitmain up their RoI % for miners who buy their gear and spread the wealth around a little more but I doubt that will happen.  Especially with all these high price points people are throwing out there.

-Edit: I wouldnt be surprised if Bitmain read the community feedback here and used it to help set the highest price possible.

Based on everything i've seen and calculated, S3 should be priced at the MAXIMUM 0.85-0.9 BTC
Anything else-it will NOT make any BTC return and this is a fact.

I will probably get the S1 upgrade kit instead Tongue Let's guess the HR of overclocked S3, 520GH/s for me  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes
My guess is 575GH/s

575gh is gonna use quite a bit of power lol

Not much more then my S1s running at 200   Wink

Im using a CX750 corsair running my overclocked S1 @ 200gh. surely it's not that high. Im disappointed that S3 is not based on S2, such as psu included Sad

i think psu not included is a great thing. i just received another corsair rm1000 to add to my fleet yesterday from newegg. one thing i have a lot of now is psu's .

Anyone fancy a bet about pricing?
Simple bet with small satoshi deposits. Main prize will go to who ever will guess s3 price.
