Unlike traditional banking where clients have only a few account numbers, with Bitcoin people can create an unlimited number of accounts (addresses). This can be used to easily track payments, and it improves anonymity.

Another week for them to mine the shit out of the hardware, and another difficulty spike for consumers to deal with by the time they finally arrive.

Although I guess you could make the argument that Bitmain is spiking the difficulty themselves so they have a better estimate of what will happen when all their hardware goes live, and adjust the price based on that difficulty level. But I kinda doubt that.

They own the hardware until they sell it, so what exactly is your point?
I would agree that it is bad practice if the hardware was prepaid, but they sell in-stock product.

Atleast they seem to be beta testing their hardware, and not some poor user who gets shipped a box of broken parts.

It is well known that Bitmain uses most of their hardware before shipping it, but this also means that the unit is well tested.

We planned to open sales for AntMiner S3 today. But we have to say sorry here, as we still need one week time to make a promise, which is 100% sure to be fulfilled.
Thanks for your support and waiting, and we will make one new product that is stable, reliable and high ROI to the Bitcoin community.

Just want to point out that there is one week of sales left on the last S2 batch. So it seems to make sense that there would be a marketing delay until this sale is complete. If you ask Nicely they will sell you S2's at 1450 right now. Not bad at all if your willing to wait 70-90 days for ROI, and if your looking for an all in one unit. I know alot of people bash on the S2 but mine just ROI'd Yesturday and is happily making me .03+ a day.

They need to mine with them for another week.  The sale will start just before the next difficulty increase.

Someone had posted that their TH had increased by roughly 500 S3 equivalents. That's a small batch 1 for you.

Yeap...I did...

This is just an observation of their pool hash rate @BTCGuild...and my speculation... Grin

Most of mine S1's came setup with BTCGuild as a backup...second pool entry...

Doesn't mean that they don't have more than one pool to mine...

So this estimate ...500 ....is just a my guess number...could be anything - 1500, 5000...I DON"T know... Grin

Happy waitingmining,

Well I bet in a week bitcoin prices are back up a bit after the US marshall auction fiasco so they would be cheaper BTC. Also the rocket boxes are delayed to the same day, the 27th, however the rocket box does not come with a controller (Raspberry Pi ) and the S3 does. The S3 is faster hashing too. I can trust the S3 already because of the track record with the S2. I will wait patiently.

Where did you read about a RPi on the S3?  Since they may also have an upgrade path for the S1, I would think the easiest way would be to continue to use the OpenWrt controller board as the S1's have.

Well yes I meant the S1 and S3 have control boards built in. The rocket box wont be cheaper than the S3 I bet after buying th Pi , PSU 750 minimum to get 4xPCi's.
