Litecoin is officially dead

Talked to one of my friends yesterday. He had invested in LTC a few months back and got food returns from the investment. But two days back he converted his LTC to Ethereum.

Litecoin is a peer-to-peer cryptocurrency and open source software project released under the MIT/X11 license. Creation and transfer of coins is based on an open source cryptographic protocol and is not managed by any central authority. Litecoin is not yet dead and still fighting.

The value of a coin is a very abstract concept. Actually, everything has its own value. This coin is very good and will only continue to increase its price.

Exactly. Litecoin is easily distinguishable among the many altcoins in existence, because it is stable and stronger than most cryptocurrencies we know and love today. Being an old altcoin, usually gives it an advantage among many altcoins which are new, since it's backed by a wealth of miners and nodes supporting it. Given that there's always demand for Litecoin (despite that it lacks real development), it'll be hard to consider it dead anytime soon.

The moment when Litecoin was finally added into Coinbase, it was such were it indicated a huge interest from mainstream investors and traders all over the world. Since Coinbase exchange brings liquidity to most cryptocurrencies, it has managed to put Litecoin in a well-respected place among many altcoins in existence. Therefore, I believe that Litecoin may never become dead as it continues to become actively traded on the market. It could continue to improve over time by implementing features to boost its scalability, among others. Since it had no problem adopting SegWit, it shouldn't have a problem implementing the Lightning Network in the future. Just my opinion

I was about to purchase some LTC in the first half of 2017, when the exchange rate was around BTC0.004 per coin. But ultimately I decided against it. Imagine how much profit I could have got, if I had gone ahead with the plans (the current exchange rates are BTC0.018 per coin).

The problem with you is that you are too much of an expert. You are providing technical basis on your conclusion but that's all there is to it, a very shallow analysis of the huge project which is Litecoin. If only you bought a thousand dollar-worth of what you call dead Litecoin you would have been sitting on a huge wealth right now. Litecoin was merely worth cents during your time and yet you failed to take the opportunity. The dead LTC went as high as $350 from a few cents.

In my view, I do not have Litecoin, but I would also say that it has many miners, more than any other coin mentioned, and it makes it worth it. And for the kind of clear coin, we'll use for the future, but it will need a lot of changes to make a decent currency.

Basically, Litecoin is worth less than Blackcoin, Netcoin, OompaLoompaCoin, heck, practically anycoin that has a faster blocktime and Any other feature... Litecoin offers absolutely nothing over what 99% of these alt coins offers, even the worst alt coin offer more innovative features than Litecoin. And to those litecoin bagholders, who say that "Litecoins age and adoption" is something it offers, that's not true..There are NO reputable stores Worldwide that accept Litecoin, not one.

Verdict: Litecoin is dead, it hasn't been updated in years, it's a practically abandoned coin. I'm gonna feel really sorry to all the litecoin bagholders that are still "HODLING" when Litecoin reaches $1, 50 cents, 10 cents etc.

It just has no appeal anymore. I think the "first altcoin" (even tho is not) tag is just not enough to justify Litecoin. But at the end of the day all that matters for a coin to be successful is merchant adoption, so we'll see if people accept it or not, is all that matters really.

I agree. Unless a coin loses its value, it is not dead. The value might decrease but still, it has value. We cannot say the future of this coin. Devs may have plans for this but as for now, we should focus on coins which have the higher probability to have greater value in the near future.

litecoin is basically bitcoins only legitimate child . there is also some really curious math with litecoin. let's review. litecoin has 4x the supply of BTC. litecoin is mining 25 coins per block right now. litecoin is trading at $150. litecoin came out roughly 2-3 years after bitcoin. get in your delorean because we're going to look at bitcoin in 2015. in 2015 the block reward was 25 coins. in july 2016 it dropped to 12.5 which is where the runup started. by 2017 it was just an uptrend. in 2015 the average price of BTC was around 600 which is exactly 4x LTC. literally...if you missed out on bitcoin you have virtually the same tech in litecoin only better in some ways staring at you right now. people may slam charlie lee for selling most his holdings but consider this. he didn't want to have litecoin be his personal plaything. he didn't want a centralized coin, he wanted litecoin to stand on it's own. personally speaking LTC and ETH are two stories i really love.

Nope.... not among the top 5. The last time I checked, EOS has overtaken Litecoin in terms of market cap. So Litecoin is currently at the 6th position, with a market cap of $8.20 billion. It is still a great achievement after all these years of struggling.
