so whats the formula to figure out hardware errors from the one line a the bottom? or the real time monitor?

i see HW errors, but no % vs. what was accepted. In other works how do you figure out the actual % of HW errors?

thanks!

Well I'm dr. spock I'm here to rock y'all

The easiest way (not entirely correct) is to multiply the amount HW errors with 100(%) and divide it by the number of accepted shares. (this is what I usually do)
A better way to do it is to multiply the amount of HW errors with 100(%) and divide it by the sum of accepted shares, rejected shares and HW errors.

I tried it on my A2mini 30MHash from MinerEU. But on 1300MHz it is hashing a little bit less than with original 1200MHz (on ghash multipool about 0,5-1MHash less).
Tried on 2 different units and on various pools and the same (bad) results.
Probably I have some "B quality" from supplier...

I suspect the PSU that is delivered with most of these devices is part of the problem as well. It is running on its max as it is, so overclocking and requiring even more is even tougher. Using a good PSU will help to cut down on energy use as well.

I have a 1st batch A2-90, but it never goes above 82Mh/s, I've tried many ways, but still no dice. It may have to do with the fact that 3 out of 6 of the blades have less than 430 cores in them. Could this be the issue??

So you are using the original cgminer shipped with the A2s? 3.9.0?

Its same with my miner, the early series have higher HWs and can use max 1200mhz.

Hi Emdje,

If I were to over clock my A2 5 module 75mh/s miner to Max 1300mhz. Would it be fine to run it, directly under an air-conditioner sitting on 20 degrees Celsius, without making any changes or adding any heatsinks etc to the miner?

All I will do is keep the lid or top of the miner opened.

There may be a way to setup the miner and the wall mounted aircon, so the aircon, points directly at the intake fans, on the device.

Although will aircon air, blowing over the top style cooling, be just as effective?

Thanks again for this great IMG file. Appreciate your work greatly. Smiley

I'm not sure I would take the lid off.  Essentially you will be letting air go up, yes hot air goes up but the airflow then would not be making it as easily to end of the blades.

Be careful if you are overclocking and thinking about doing things such as leaving case top off.  Most likely it would be better with case top on and extra cooling going in from front or adding extra exhaust.  And of course temperature of room is a factor.

Thanks for the advise mate. That sounds very logical. More reason for me to set up the office to suit the miners needs. keeping a close look at the temperatures of each module.

Thanks again Smiley

Hey peeps, whats the maximum and also average temparture you want your individual cores to sit at, when overclocking to 1300mhz for example?

I was chatting to afew mates, they think maximum 60 degrees celsius. And thats cut off point. So therefore, an average of 45 degrees celsius wouldnt be too stressful on these asic cores would it?

We have A2 units running in an 80 to 85 degrees F environment clocked @ 1300 with no problems . Innosilicon A2 is the best miner made to date. When they release their kernel you'll be able to get about 118 MH/s from these.  Cool

Do you think they will ever release their cgminer? From what I heard Innosilicon is done with A2s.

We know of people that know people that can obtain it but it may take a month or two.

Hi I have been on a holiday, but here I am agian.

My advice is the same as quoted above, taking the lid of destroys the airflow. The blades can take a lot of heat by the way, mine has run without any fans for 10 minutes on 1300 MHz before I realized I had not turned them on. And my A2 Mini still hashes perfectly: https://www.miningrigrentals.com/rigs/3166

You can change that on the PI. Ssh into the PI and follow this tutorial: http://www.penguintutor.com/news/raspberrypi/linux-static

For Ssh follow this:  https://learn.adafruit.com/adafruits-raspberry-pi-lesson-6-using-ssh/ssh-under-windows

Hope this helps.
