Yeah and squirrel pelts have also been used as money prior to coins in northern Europe. "oravannahka" is a Finnish word for money, derived from "squirrel pelt". (src)

Hey guys, I have been considering possible directions for SmartCoin development and could use some suggestions.

There seems to be good potential for innovation (and profit) in automating corporate control structures and financial processing.

But SmartCoin needs to be a payment token for some kinds of goods or services in order to be successful, as the "claim on labor" element gives backing to the foundation of a currrency, while the blockchain makes it easy to distribute revenue from business activities to the holders of a digital currency (or DAC investors).

So the question is, what are some products or services that can be powered by SmartCoin?

Also, I was thinking that the hash power of crypto currency network can probably be applied to something besides finding a hash with a certain amount of zeros at the beginning. For example, neural networks used in machine learning are GPU resource intensive in training, and so there could be useful tasks currently requiring supercomputers that could instead be outsourced to "miners", reducing computing maintenance requirements and costs.

That looks good. I have considered online poker, but the security for that has to be really good, and that's already enough work for more than one person.

I am working on some basics with the client -- multi platform installation, auto update, stuff like that. I may have some ideas about functionality, but it's probably too early to talk about a release.
