Website http://silkcoin.moniq.sk/ belongs to bitcointalk user moniq https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=352179.
She created the design and will communicate here as soon as the user account is online long enough to create comments. The donation SC address for design is still valid.
She may decide to publish new donation address for future work Smiley
Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

Why a self moderated topic?
There is no rational reason. Of the 20 largest altcoin threads, only UTC, XC and ZEIT are self-moderated. Come on, with most people still bitter from the losses after the demise of the first team, Silk needs every bit of credibility it can get and I don't think this is helping the coin at all.
Lol  Sorry to explain that... are you new to the Silk threads?
Nope not new, I'll just quote what was said on the first page again and then try to explain my point better.

I'm not too sure about the main ANN being self-moderated. I have no serious suspicions myself but It's a red flag for many people as it restricts free speech, among other possible things, so it's not actually beneficial to have in my opinion, even if it makes sense from the viewpoint of an honest Dev team. But everyone is more cautious and trust people less than ever now, so they have little reason to blindly trust this specific case when a red flag is apparent, so many people will turn away without so much as reading the first post and never look back, so that has to be considered if we want the coin to succeed.

The main threads are supposed to be "anything goes". Whatever criticism, chaos, trolling and FUD may take place - all coins have to deal with it, and a strong coin will endure it and come out stronger every time the FUD gets debunked and every time the Dev team delivers their promise. You know what they say - no such thing as bad publicity, even in the cryptocoin world.

It's still early and nothing would be lost if the main ANN was relaunched as unmoderated.
And I suggest a new "Serious discussion" thread be made too, and that should be the self-moderated one. A link to that one should be easily visible on the first post.

Please consider this, I do want SC to succeed.

Understand where you're coming from but to be honest, I didn't grow up playing in punk and metal bands to be the foul swoop of oppression of freedom.  If the mod in this forum turns into oppression, I invite you to draw and quarter me. Now I don't want to be drawn and quartered.  So we should be safe here for a fair and open thread.
The only aim is to not have a garbage heap of a a thread, to stay on topic and stop people from killing each other.
There will be very light moderation - no worries there.
 Grin
Just wanna say - it doesn't bother me personally, but your answer did not provide any arguments for why self-moderating is more beneficial to the project than the default setting where if someone seriously disturbs the thread the a forum moderator would take care of it - why is anything more than that needed at the cost of losing many people's trust?

Take a look at this thread to see that people do consider Self-moderating as a sign of a scam. Plain and simple. To many of them it looks like this:

"Self-moderating? Dev can and probably will delete all criticism even if it's valid, which is NOT something a strong coin would need to resort to. Or the Dev is preparing for the day they abandon ship and run with coins, while silencing all those who voice suspicions."

This was a paraphrased quote of what I read on IRC after telling people about the new Silk. So yeah, guess what people think about a coin that needs to feel the safety of a censor button? That it's WEAK and can't let people criticize it! It doesn't mean that is true, but that is what people logically assume because they have been burned by trusting someone before already and they have no reason to trust you! If we want to change that - start a new normal ANN thread for the interest of the general public where all concerns are free to be voiced. Then, change the title and the first post of this one so it becomes the self-moderated "Serious" community thread which won't have any of the garbage you think would befall the ANN thread.

We have a responsive community now and people being around to prove critics or fudders wrong will improve the coin's credibility! I repeat, I only want what's best for the coin as a stakeholder myself, which is why I want people not to run away with doubts because of a small matter such as this. It's good to stand up for our coin, but the way people do it on this forum is by using proof and arguments, not just deleting whatever they don't like!

Few more things - do we have an IRC presence? We should! We could take over both #silkcoin and #silk if someone with the access to github goes to #help on irc.freenode.net and PM's one the voiced (+ in front of name) people there and tell that you represent SilkCoin - the brand with its name in #silkcoin and #silk chat rooms that you would like to get ownership of, as the rightful representative of the project) and , then prove it with github and you will be passed ownership of those channels. Alternatively - /message Wavey (the owner of #Silk) or silkcoin (owner of #silkcoin) but they both appear offline so just ask the admins at #help Wink #silkcoin is being spammed by a shitty bot owned by the previous operator of the room, I think, so as new owner you should also ban that. I think with help of admins it could also be possible to seize "silkcoin" nickname, as that is our brand too.

As many people as possible from the dev and management team should be hanging in the room - it increases user confidence A LOT if a dev is sometimes there to chat, answer to questions, tell some ETAs... And then a lot more people would join the chatroom because it would be a source of possible exclusive info. Smiley

Also - I think it would be nice to see much more details in the first post, I would personally like to see a list with all forum names of people involved in Silk and their main roles if any. The public doesn't see what happens on Trello so they have no idea how many people have actually volunteered to work hard as a team and deliver the true potential of the coin.

Uh - there is one person idling there, while there are 28 in #silkcoin. I think it makes more sense to get ownership of #silkcoin and #silk cause that's what people would naturally join when looking for our room and like I said - we don't need to contact the owners of those rooms, just prove to a freenode admin that we represent Silkcoin project on github - and ownership will be given to us.

There is no voting and it won't be changed.

LOL, well I guess that's been decided then, guys, might as well pack up and go home -- SirChiko will take over from here.
As the dev didn't  say anything about changing the name or voting for change? If so quote it please and i'll apologize.
There are enought good arguments to why not change it just look throught the topic.

We had a poll on easy poll and silkcoin was the winner.  Ticker would either be silk or slk.  Folks were worried that easy poll wasnt fair (proxies and cookie clearing) so will likely do another.  Silkcoin #1 vote.  Silk #2 to date.
At a wedding today so wont have much time to post.

Everywhere is SC, why do you change it? It's the only good thing from past.

Name change would have the opposite effect, it would be suspicious. "Hey Silk are those of SilkCoin, they only change name"

Don't be afraid about past. Wink

Proud to be NEW SilkCoin! o/

OK. I also deleted my rather aggressive post.

The big problem with going ahead using the name silkcoin is that the old devs own the domain names and usernames/profile names on social media. This issue cannot be resolved easily.

Also, silkcoin was in no way a recognizable brand name outside of bitcointalk, so I don't understand why the name change is such a big deal for some members.

Oh, so that's the problem. I didn't know this coin was forked i thought you are suddenly for name change just for fun.

Made some edits

Everyone is allowed to voice their opinion freely criticize the coin.   Without that critisicm silkcoin is doomed.  It is essential for the evolution of silk.
Things that would of course need to be removed would be posts which have already happened in other threads involving death threats, physical harm, public announcement of personal residences of old devs etc.

Unfortunatly this is an issue, and was advised by many people who did get burned (if they sold(-;) to control the possibility of horrible acts being linked back to this thread.    Do not want to see any threats or speculation involving the safety of anyones life.  Im sure anyone interested in that can find other threads to post in.
I completely understand the view, but dont know if having both sides of the coin (no pun intended) is possible at this point.
Once the dust is settled it is a possibility to have a non-moderated thread, but at this point there are two more previous threads, and the linking is getting ridiculous.
Hope that helps to clarify a bit.

Well, domains for "Silk" won't be much easier to get, I guess. But without a name change it would also lack a clear indication to people who who lost money with Silkcoin that this project is not run by the same scumbags as before and that a lot of changes have happened - name change could be the first indication that things they are a-changin' Wink

I do believe you mean what you say about criticism - but not everybody does! People have seen countless coins abuse the self-moderating feature to advance their agenda, which more often than not ends with the dumping of their coins and disappearing. This happens all the time and people are tired of it.

I think the best solution would be to simply start the unmoderated official thread now already and let people start using that one if they wish to do so, while we continue to discuss things in a more civil manner right here, as before. However, Dev team presence should be felt on both threads (as well as IRC and social media) every single day - it is the root of all confidence people feel about a coin. If a dev can't post for a day, someone should do it in their place so nobody panics.

Let's get that thread going better late than never! And then link both of them together with VERY visible links in the first posts so people can participate in or follow both and it shouldn't be an issue. The old threads surely can be forgotten now?

The issue of threats and doxing that was going on should be dealt with by forum moderators who should immediately upon notification delete said posts and ban the culprit, right? It should NOT be the responsibility of the person who started the thread. They can't prevent it from repeating anyway and such posts will sit around visible to all until they are noticed by them. So, I think it's forum moderators who should be put to good use in such extreme cases.

Considering all this, why would it be 'impossible' at 'this point'? What is this point? It's still the stage of baby steps for the new generation Silkcoin and a lot of community management needs to be done - this being one of them and arguably the most important! Read around the forums to see what people's reactions are when they see self-moderated threads - that should tell you everything you need to know to make the right decision.

[Will respond to last post here in a moment]

This is a good point. Not everyone frequents bitcointalk forums as much as some of us and is not always kept in the loop. For all they know, the current existing social media outlets owned by the original SC devs are still the "official" ones. Ultimately it is up to the new management to decide if they want to change the name or not. If acquiring the old domains and social media accounts is not doable, then creating new ones and promoting it accordingly is recommended since the old ones owned by old dev are likely inactive anyway.

I vote for Silk for name and SLK for ticker.

Well maybe i should apologize as i didn't notice that my opinion is that SilkCoin is fine and better than just Silk. And changing name of something in use for quite some time will make people confused in my opinion.

As far as I'm concerned, I'd never vote for a name change for fun! Smiley I don't think a name change is funny at all, but in this case it is almost necessary.

Well after i know these facts it would maybe be fine to change the name but people would still be confused thinking it's some other coin even if it did not get outside of bitcointalk but yep it seems necessary so good luck.

The only online casino on which i won something. I made 17mBTC from 1mBTC in like 15 minutes.  This is not paid AD!
