It seems we have run into issues with the installer version that was previously released for windows 8.  

If you have run the installer version of 1.1.0.12 -

backup your wallet.dat file

please click on your start menu - Programs - The Silkcoin Team - Uninstall.

enter into  computer - c:/programfiles(x86) - and ensure silkcoin folder has been removed by uninstaller.

enter into your hidden %appdata%/roaming/silkcoin

delete everything but your wallet.dat

restart computer - this is required for full uninstall

download the win32 1.1.0.12 .zip and blockchain download. https://github.com/silkcointemple/silkcoin/releases/tag/v1.1.0.12

unzip blockchain download, and place all contents in %appdata%/roaming/silkcoin

your appdata folder should now have the following files and folders

textleveldb (folder)
db.log
blk0001.dat
.lock
wallet.dat

if this is correct,

Run the 1.1.0.12 .exe file you have extracted from the 1.1.0.12 .zip file.
this should remedy the errors.

Unfortunately there seems to be some error between Win 7 and Win 8 regarding the installer.
We will be releasing the next version within the next day or two.

Unfortunately I have re-installed per these instructions and still can't send money from my wallet.
One question:  Does it matter WHEN I replace the wallet.dat?  Example, I replaced it before running the setup.  Should I have done it afterward, or does it matter?

Anyhow, upon starting the wallet, I get this message:

Seems like what I've already tried.  But I'll follow your procedure when I get home tonight, in case I missed something doing it on my own.
It's about time I get an imgur account anyways, I suppose

I'll cross my fingers and let you know how it goes.  I know this community will help make this work.  Getting these bugs smoothed out is just part of the process that leads to success.

Have you tried starting an older version of the wallet if you still have one around instead of the newest one?
I would go for silkcoin-qt_win_1.1.0.0beta5 that has two versions one for 32bit and one for 64bit

This is probably totally a long shot, but could it be possible that with my upgrade to Windows 64, C++ didn't get adequately updated?  I think my IT guy put on 2005 and 2010 or something like that.  What are the requirements for the qt software, and how to I ensure I have the right version(s)?

Suggestion:

When you are in the Transaction Page and you scroll over the red clock, yellow clock, green check mark or question mark, could we have a little note pop up explaining what it means? Just feels like something should pop up when scrolling over so when people don't know what they mean they'll get a quick explanation.

Ill forward this correspondence to the dev team and see what they can come up with.
I cant say that i know what they all mean, i expect green tick means confirmed, and the clock probably means awaiting conformation? IDK, but ive seen similar icons on most other wallets.

Yes it quite possible you are missing an update on your windows.  The installer seems to have a bitch dll somewhere that caused problems for a few users between win 7 and 8.  Try the new beta from Bishop and see if it fixes the problem.  If it doesn't, please pm and we can do a screen join to fix the issue.   Your case does seem to be isolated, but it is good to get to the root of the problem.
  Mac, Linux, Win7 and most Win8 users aren't experiencing any problems.

I've forwarded your tech issue to the coders as well.  Let me know how the new Beta works.

Have you tried to dumpprivkey your SILK address, delete all files (including wallet.dat), make a clean install with latest version and importprivkey ?

Hey Joffmac, Just reading through all of your posts.  It seems you have never had any version work for you?

Can you send a screenshot of transaction conflicted?
I haven't seen this error yet.

Also please provide which operating system you are running.  
I believe I remember seeing you mentioned your computer would shut down when loading wallet.  I've never heard of that before.
So, as well please provide the specs on you computer.

As well, how long ago did you send to cryptsy?  
Please post your Silk address, so I can send a tester and see what comes up on my end.

Can you send a screenshot of transaction conflicted?
I haven't seen this error yet.

sorry i can not share a screen shot on for some reason but if you tell me how i can try again,the time of the transaction was 17.54 my time,i am using windows 7 my address for wallet is BExBKCqRcU77VtPXpev88Rf8bYNiodBFnQ ,it also happend before while i was syncing the old wallet but no coins were missing that time so i did not worry as i thought it was down to me syncing,p.s i do get my coins for minning

The conflicted state does not affect your Silkcoin balance.

yes i done one when it was syncing which did not affect balance which was ok,but then i done one when it was fully synced which did,which did not work.

i am say that all fine with mining coin i get them ok,
and as you can see i sent two transactions one for 5000 coin while it was syncing which did not affect my balance at all,but one when was fully synced which did that one was for 6000
