But what amount are you going to make the PoW phase?

How many blocks?

You also need to hardfork the chain again.

If we are planning to add a 3rd PoW phase, I would like to propose a PoW phase of 7 million coins. (that will give us approx 50 million coins total)

Maybe 7000 blocks, that gives us 1000 coins per block.

in 24 hours we are passing 1500 blocks.

We can consider to implement the new PoW phase at block 105000-110000, that gives us 8000-13000 blocks to implement the new code and hardfork the coin. that is 5 days-9 days

This is true... what is the difference in benefit from a short pow phase, a shitload of coding work, or all of us emailing every single multipool that is in existance to make a choice of permanent homes for miners wanting silk?

It is a good discussion and may be something for the polls when they are up.

Any dev who has done it before can easily set the main.ccp nSubsidy schedule for the new blocks.
https://github.com/shnurf/silkcoin/blob/master/src/main.cpp#L977

Recompile the wallets on all systems, start a new Silkcoin ANN thread titled reboot, and put out Launch advertisements calendar ect. 7 days in advance. Reboot it on the weekend.

If the camel is going to bounce back the Silkcoin team needs to be prepared to do whatever necessary to make that happen. If the camel can bounce back without a third pow phase then that's great too, but time is ticking.

Yeah i would be OK with that, it would spark interest back in the coin i think, the key may be in setting the right block reward, to spread this POW phase over a month i reckon, not a week like last time.

Interest only for getting coins in the cheap and dumping them. Care to explain how it sparks other interest in the project?

It just gives a chance for people to get into the coin as a relaunch, but i do agree that a multipool is probably a better option at the current prices, i think there are advantages and disadvantages to both options.
Either way, a multipool is a must.

New PoW stage is only cool for communication/marketing/visibility of Silkcoin, nothing else.

Small yearly inflation could do the coin good aswell.

Making another PoW.. I dont think this is good.

What if the coin is on its back again in few months... We take another PoW..?

Like I said yearly inflation to keep the network alive could be a good thing

Your right, probably no real advantage in adding another POW stage,  perhaps we can tweak the POS phase to increase the reward slightly for a few blocks as an incentive to get people staking and keeping the network going strong.

I'm not a fan of extra PoW unless it's very low reward.  The fact of the matter is that no miner that is in it to pump and dump would mine a coin that is selling for 493 satoshi on Cryptsy, especially if the block reward is small.  Now, that being said.  If want to do it for the novelty miners or people getting into it, that's fine but would it be worth the time spent by the team?  That's the question we have to answer.

IMO, I think the time is better spent promoting, marketing and coding the new features.

ALL of that being said, I think a multipool that pays out in SC would be an amazing idea.  I would gladly point my 15MH to that pool because that would save me a step.  I'm literally mining x11 startups, dumping and buying SC.  Every day.  Haha Smiley

Can someone please tell me what block we are on currently. I have the wallet syncing and want to make sure it is correct before I send any silk to it. Thank you.

I talked with a staff member of Coinking, there is a possibility of adding the coin, but he wants to speak with one of the devs first.

You can connect him on Freenode #Coinking, and private message Jool

Don't they have the chance to get in now? What do they want? Ahhh, cheap coins? Well... there is the market to get them. Supply and demand. Generating new coins makes no sense to me. Sorry. Smiley It will lower the value of each coin and it will bring us to the same exact point in about a month. Useless.

The excellent work that is being done should be convincing enough for anyone with long-term thinking to get in.

Agree 100%
