Added the new section to the guidelines:

Quote
Tokens (Altcoins) (child board of Announcements (Altcoins)) - Altcoin token (an altcoin entity / thing that relies on another altcoin's infrastructure to function) announcements, generic (usually announcement like) token discussion threads.

Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

Because it's happening en masse in the Bounty board. We don't allow campaigns to encourage users to post their addresses in the threads but this is no different and is still essentially bump spam.

I read the rules. But I did not find that insult people in a thread without any reason is mentioned.  So is that allowed?  I can go in some thread and call all that replies there a morons and all is fine unless I threaten them with death?

Or calling someone a moron is considering a trolling so forbidden?

No, they're not (as per rule 1). I usually nuke the newbie accounts that post these (that is when the rest of their post history is comprised primarily of similar or just generally low quality posts) but the second I finish cleaning up 10 accounts, 30 more pop up. As for users of higher rank, IMO a short (3 - 7 days) temporary ban would help but considering the percentage of my recent ban requests that were acknowledged, let alone granted, this seems unlikely.

See the FAQ:

Q: Someone insulted me. Why aren't you deleting his post/thread?
A: Possible (since we don't have the time or resources to check) insults are also allowed as long as they contain any kind of constructive opinion, info or something else substantial and aren't off-topic. For example, posting something like "you are dumb" will be deleted as it contains no meaningful content. However, if the post is somehwere along the lines of "You are dumb. This is wrong because this website/thread/etc. has explained it's not right", it's in most cases accepted.

Yeah, I'm not going to waste my time giving these idiots warnings so I'll just ban them if almost their entire post history is this. Maybe you should sticky it in the bounty section so they have no excuses because far too many people are spamming it.

Quite a few of them participated in on-forum altcoin giveaways (looking at their posts in now trashed threads) so I don't think they're even aware of the existence of stickied threads. I'll draft one up anyway; tomorrow probably.

Is there any change on this rules?
As I see more and more translated announcements threads posting here
All Local boards - Discussion of various topics in the appropriate language. Posting translated coin announcements is limited to languages that have their own section (a.k.a. dedicated board with sub-boards).

∙ Is there a Filipino version of this Rules and Guideline thread in the Local Forum - Philippines?
  - If there's none, I will translate this during my free time.

∙ Speaking of NSFW content, if ever happened that I posted an Image to a "for sale" personally made Advertisement Banner to be used for Pornographic Anime sites, does censoring(mosaic or bar) the images make it SFW?

There are a couple of stickies about the rules in there but for some reason they're mostly in English.

As for the NSFW content it'll probably be taken on a case by case basis. Having a woman showing a bit of cleavage vs a topless woman with a pixel over her nipples are two different things. However, if they're in a thread clearly stating what is likely to be found inside and marked as NSFW it shouldn't be an issue.

I have a question about rule: “21. Old bumps should be deleted. [2]”

Does that apply to all posts without analyzing if that post has a good present reason to be bumped?

Because if so, this post https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2183872.0 where I posted after someone bumped it, should be deleted as well.
I would see no sense in that, as the subject in question has become breaking news again after Catalan parliament declared independence yesterday.

Anyway, I don’t make the rules, but it would be surprising for me if it had to be deleted. I’ve been trying to find a deep explanation on why all bumps should be deleted but I can’t find it.

Imagine someone posts the following subject: “Bitcoin will reach 37.000$ by mid-February 2018”. Imagine that post has two or three replies and then dies because that price seems too high to most of us. Wouldn’t make sense to bump it if bitcoin actually reached that price at that time?

Regards.

I think that rules refer to bump in sales thread, not a discussion thread. Users are allowed to bump their selling/buying thread once every 24 hours and according to rules #21 they should delete their previous bump regularly.

Your example is correct and it's OK. It is not against the rule to reply to an old topic as long as it is relevant to the latest condition. Another example is "I am pretty confident we are the new wealthy elite, gentlemen.". Posted in 2011 when Bitcoin price was pennies. In 2013 when Bitcoin hits $1000, that thread, of course, gained more attention because the OP prediction was correct, the early adopters are now the new wealthy elites, and it only becomes truer as time goes by.

Thanks for your reply but I don’t think it refers only to a sales thread.

I posted this here because recently it happened to me twice that I received a message saying: “A reply of yours, quoted below, was deleted by a Bitcoin Forum moderator. Posts are most frequently deleted because they are off-topic, though they can also be deleted for other reasons. In the future, please avoid posting things that need to be deleted.”

In both cases they were old bumps (not too old in my opinion) that someone else had bumped and then I commented on them. So I’m a bit paranoid now.

Well you're obviously doing something wrong and I suggest you read the rules in the op because posts are not just deleted for being either off topic or useless, though making posts like the following is pretty useless:

Hi, im a newbie here,. Can you give me strategies on how can i start in here?

What exactly do you want to start? That doesn't tell us anything. This is a bitcoin forum where people discuss bitcoin so I'm not sure what you need help with. Be more specific, but there are already several threads stickied that can probably help you and threads are often trashed when the info you already need can be found in one of them.

hello mprep first thanks  for making this post .

I am a translator
I want to translate it into a local panel (Arabic)
Do you allow me to start?

edit

really Great topic , clear language and good format

+1 to you

i translate it but have problem

Do you know why my topic cut  before end ?? (only half appear but when use preview i see all topic)

check https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2345906.msg23892028#msg23892028

Sure, feel free. Post the link to the thread and I'll add it to OP alongside other translations.

Not sure about the cut off though. There's a 60000 byte (not sure, theymos mentioned the limit some time ago) for posts so  it could be that Arabic characters are stored inefficiently so they fill up the limit in fewer actual characters.

Thank you very much! At least there is a list of rules wherein all participant will be guided. I commended the FAQs section that was pretty spoon feeding, lucky us!

If you are posting a reply on a thread, and your answer is relevant. Would adding your referral link instead of the plain url be a problem?

For example, you are suggesting service a-dot-com as an answer's to OPs question. Would a ref link (a-dot-com?ref=my-ref) be allowed?

If the post is directly on-topic (like in your example) and is constructive (i.e. not just parotting content that was already posted), it's allowed.

Also, it would be neater if you enclose your referral link in
Code:
[url=http://(ref link)](then type the actual link)[/url]
which will make the thread flow much better since there is a tendency that the topic will direct to... another concern.

Just recently, a certain user seems to be running through one particular board and just replying to EVERY thread they see regardless of when the threads were last posted to... There was one example of a thread where the previous "last posted" date was from 2014!!?!

It's fairly obvious the guy is just spamming semi-coherent "Google Translate Output" in an attempt to raise "activity"... I'm thinking future SigSpammer or Account Seller.

I can't find any reference in the rules to "necro-posting"... What are the rules on this? Is it worth reporting to the board moderators? Maybe as spamming? Huh
