Added the rule to Unofficial list of (official) Bitcointalk.org rules, guidelines. Advertising mining pools is no longer allowed, including, but not limited to, altcoin announcement threads. Mining pool ops should make one thread within the Mining section of Alt Currencies. Do not make a separate thread for each coin. Most OP's already link to pools available so advertising your pool is unnecessary and leads to too much spam.
How the Hell do you intend for people to find pools to mine the coins with, if not in the OP I quote you .. maybe you mistyped what you actually mean "Advertising mining pools is no longer allowed, including, but not limited to, alt coin announcement threads." So a new coin cannot have links to the pools for their coin is what that says ... I wonder if it's just not clearly written because you go on to contradict your self here with "Most OP's already link to pools available so advertising your pool is unnecessary and leads to too much spam. " So can we have some clarification to this.... otherwise I think it's time to community found a new forum to work from ... .... .... damn nazi's The submission of pools to be added to OP can be done via PM. I don't understand.
1. If coin has dedicated "mining" thread is it allowed to post there? 2. Is it allowed to post in "local branches" of the forums like Russian, French, etc?
1. Yes 2. Yes, if they have an alt coin section in that Local board, they post in a dedicated thread for their pool and that thread is in the appropriate language. what next? This is the bigger stupid i ever read people can not promote they pools is fuck why You do not stop the people stolen to others

Hi BB. W/R/T to your OP, is this sort of thing OK or not-OK? Posting once to announce a mining pool in a coin thread is allowed as long as the post isn't structured as an advertising (see my previous posts in this thread).

I understand one-time announcements are OK. Does that mean crackfoo's repetitive "update" posts in multiple coins' threads are not-OK? The answer would seem to be No, but an explicit ruling from a mod is needed to convince a couple people claim to like this poolspam. They are obviously "structured as advertising" given that only the numbers in the first line change, and the other four are static ad copy: Imagine if Slush auto-posted his pool's daily stats in BTC threads outside of his own. Methinks the outcry would be swift and deafening!

Does reporting posts get them removed in the sub-forum? it seems every other post is someone advertising pools/faucets

Yes, however, before you do so, see this: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=718124.msg9184818#msg9184818

How about an introduction to a new currency? It is a form of advertising but I only want to introduce the coin to raise awareness?
Thoughts?

According to the thread you posted, it seems more like an announcement and as such I've moved it to Announcements (Altcoins).

this is bullshit rule that fucks over those of us who want to find pool fast and grab some of the first low difficulty coins, i don't want to be checking the mining subforum or waiting for dev to get pm and add to op, this only wastes time and allows ppl with their own mining hardware and insiders to get more of the easy coins
its only spam when pool owner post their link in the same thread multiple times, don't see the problem allowing them to post once
We've had some serious trouble with pool spammers (those adding any coin and posting (nearly) an identical message to all altcoin announcements). They just clutter up a discussion and can be avoided simply by making people add pools through PM. If you want to mine a coin early, mine it solo. If you can't, don't worry - probaly nobody will be until the coin author adds the info. I agree, I think it is fairly obvious when someone is spamming multiple threads and when announcements are being posted to keep communities informed. It is unfortunate that a few make life more difficult for the many but it seems to be the way of things.

pool spam can be annoying, but new coin owners should watch out for the offers of free pool setups
most are great and help get your coin started, but many have the background idea of using their own pool to mine every new coin that comes alone, including yours, that is not a big deal and they can do it without your permission, but if your coin thread promotes a pool and it gets popular, that pool is probably banking some of your coins and if the roof flies off and you get on an exchange, they can swoop in, cash out and make your coin lose value.
best to choose a good pool or two and ask to be added, any pool can add you, but make sure your coin thread is self-moderated and you can prune back the obvious pool spam, keeping your coins pretty safe along the way

Without a spammers in game we can play nicely what do you mean by this? he simply mean that without spamming. using of forum will be more interesting and enjoyable. he's actually right. if there would be so many spam then the forum will turn to just a dust and nothing else.. (sadly this is happening right now. so many spammers still around here.)

But if nobody moderates then threads will become unreadable.

erhaps an improved answer would be to limit the dimensions of pool advertisements, that is what is therefore damn annoying. No a lot of 500x500 graphic logos and ten lines of big text. i'd haven't any downside limiting my pool announcements to one thing that would slot in perhaps five lines approximately, if such pointers were printed.
