Advertising spam is not allowed, this includes mining pools, gambling services, exchanges, shops, etc. Mining pool ops should make a thread within the Mining section of Alt Currencies. Most OP's already link to pools available so advertising your pool is unnecessary and leads to too much spam. Exchanges, shops, gambling sites, etc, should make a thread in the Marketplace section of Alt Currencies.

I own and operate Lifeforce.info pools and I did what you asked and guess what? - you guys deleted the thread....

and I do agree with your decision to stop the spam - many pool operators have consistently hammered thread looking for free advertising - that's why I pay money to have my banner ads run on various sites promoting my pool.

the other very real problem is that pools fall by the wayside everyday and I can pick at least 10 coins right now where the OP has links to pools that are not even in existence any longer and the devs are long gone, but yet the coin still has a very active mining community and there's no one around to update the OP - so I want to know HOW us pool owners are going to let the miners know we have a new (and sometimes) THE ONLY POOL AVAILABLE TO MINE A COIN IF WE ARE NOT ALLOWED TO POST A MESSAGE MENTIONING OUR POOL?

Exactly. As I said, this rule is arbitrary and capricious. Granted, this is a privately held forum, but if it were subject to any sort of common law test, this rule would be found by any court, even the Kangaroo courts in the United States, as overbroad and deliberately operating in restraint of commerce. In short, under any theory of common law that I've ever heard of, this is ridiculous.

i think mods know this rules are not good but.. they just want to make altcoin forum to die in natural way. without kicking out people just puttign rules that will make it hard to use the forum.

You are absolutely right, sometimes my frustration gets the best of me

...but the fact remains that the rule addresses a problem by making an untenable rule...Meanwhile, the mods in general do NOTHING about open slander, vicious attacks, known scams... I actually like some of the mods (Greg Maxwell in particular has been very cool to me), but the way the rules are made and enforced on Bitcointalk betrays either a total lack of forethought, deliberate malice, or hallucinogens.

What did anyone expect. Lazy cunt devs, dickwaded mods. The problems are easy but they have their heads in the sand. Crikey one moderator was actually proud that the dev chose an old insecure version of SMF and patched it a little, rather than use the already updated and secured version.

Oh but he DID install the trust addon. So we should be happy. What a fucking farce. There are so much bigger issues at hand, what kind of tit choses to tell everyone to fuck off somewhere else rather than address issues properly.

They even admit, NOBODY reports the pool posts. Because NOBODY GAVE A FUCK!
