One of the main problems is that many of the coins DON'T look beyond the next month.  My logic is that since NONE of the alternative currencies have been successful in crossing the mass adoption threshold, most of their tactics don't work.

Technological innovations do not happen in a week.  Most of the "altcoins" had shiny "new features" that were simple to implement, which they used to attract attention, but had no real use beyond novelty.  That did not help cryptocurrency cross the m.a.t.  

Now, we are in development on a short term project, and making plans for the larger scope now that we know for sure that we can develop for the next 3 months.
