Even if you use Bitcoin through Tor, the way transactions are handled by the network makes anonymity difficult to achieve. Do not expect your transactions to be anonymous unless you really know what you're doing.

With BFL shipping way over power spec, how would one modify existing cables to make them compatible with the new hardware? From what I saw, they will draw upwards of 160w, which is more than what 1 line can offer.

Would it be possible to splice something up where for every 3 12bv lines, you can run 2 BFL ASIC? The theory being that each 6 pin adaptor provides 3 12v lines, for a max of 360w, while 2 BFLs will consume 320w. Would that be safe to run 24/7? Or would you suggest 2 dedicated 12v lines per BFL to be safe? Most PSUs have pairs of 6 pins, which would give you 3 BFLs powered total.

Ideally what needs to happen is BFL get their act together and deliver a unit with the specs they promised but that is another story.

If you have my 18AWG cables then we really need to see what the final power numbers from BFL are. There is a lot of talk that they will ship more units at lower chip counts and power. This should be satisfactory up to 10amps which will be over the maximum for the minifit jr connectors on my cable and the PSU. Very short runs of 18awg out in the open so there is some cooling should be able to go to 14amps and be still within spec. It is not my comfort zone but the handbook does say it can work.

16AWG wire can go upto almost 20amps safely in short runs and out in the open. The problem still lies with the minifit connectors though, as with 16AWG they can do a max of 11Amps. Your last statement is correct by the way.  Smiley

Let us just be patient and see what the final delivered specs for the BFL singles will be. I can help you more when all the question marks are gone.  Smiley

FYI the BFL FPGA cable works fine with the BFL SC Jalapeno (I'm only using 32W on my Jalapeno)

FYI the BFL FPGA cable works fine with the BFL SC Jalapeno (I'm only using 32W on my Jalapeno)

Originally they were also intended for the SC singles but it looks like that ship has sailed.

I have been using two cables (three barrel plugs each) to power 6 BFL FPGA units for about two weeks now, and everything is working perfectly. Where these 6 units are located, sometimes the power is not clean, so switching over to a PSU and Chris' cables have given the units consistent, clean power and may have even contributed to helping one of the units get over its incessant throttling. I have tried to fix that throttling with everything I could think of, including upgrading the internal fans (it runs the coolest temps of the group), but couldn't get it to behave until I hooked it up to the PSU with Chris' cable. Problem solved. Thanks Chris, for a quality product.

Just wanted to say if you want quality service and quality cables, Chris is the guy to go to!

I realized i made a mistake with the type of plug i wanted after Chris already made the cable, and he had no problem fixing my mistake for FREE!

My cables will only work for the BFL FPGAs and SC Jalapeno units currently.  The SC Little Single and 'Big' Single will use 6pin PCIe connectors instead of a dc coaxial plug as they draw too much power now.

Originally my plan was to do the whole BFL lineup in addition to other FPGAs but that plan has fallen through.

Cablez, if you are willing to do special orders, I would be interested in a cable.

I would like you to start with one of your switches like this:


But, in addition to the switch, I would like you to use the available 5V lines to give me as many 5V 3.5mm plugs as possible (up to 10).  Each plug needs to be capable of 3 amps.

I need about 8 feet before the first connector and at least 3 inches between the plugs.  If you can do something like this, pm me a quote.
