This to me would open so many more doors, especially to those who find acquiring BTC equally difficult. Build a separate in-wallet market to buy and sell SDC directly from payment processors dealing in various fiat currencies and payment methods.

I have a workstation pc that I rarely turn off.  Due to storms, the power went of several times over the last week.  Now when loading the wallet it will not sync and my wallet balance is missing like 5,000 SDC.  I've tried rebooting and restarting the wallet.  Anyone have some suggestions?  Do I need to clear the folder and re-download the blockchain?

The fastest way is to use the ultra fast sync:

A cheap uninterruptible power supply (UPS) might prevent this.

IMO having in wallet BTCdirect negates the need for an alt crypto entirely such as sys. Now having a tool in wallet to grab SDC from a community pool/direct from exchanges @ current exchange price with in-wallet BTC would be neat but exploitable and unnecessary.

Silly me, I thought  this was SDC thread but I see  Scofield must have been mistaken about which thread he posted his bullcrap advertising in. This thread is about privacy and consumer protection through multiple layers of anonymity which is entirely different from sys.

RASPBERRY PI STAKING!
I have now run my first solid week of stakes with no errors. On two coins actually at the same time. Running your OS and blockchain from USB is MANDATORY at this point for any staking on a Raspberry Pi for any coin if you want it to be a reliable performer. This guide on how to do that works perfect for UBUNTU MATE which is the distro I used and recommend. http://www.instructables.com/id/Boot-the-Raspberry-Pi-from-USB/

Make sure to use a FAT32 USB. Not a 128gb exFAT. I used the Samsung 32GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive (MUF-32BA/AM) since it is the best performing on the market (fastest read/write speeds). You might be able to swap your ROOT over to a 128gb exFAT after setup, I just haven't tried it yet.

Once you have your BOOT (boot partition) on your SD card and your ROOT (OS partition) on your USB you can run through the following guide in terminal.
Code:
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get upgrade

$ sudo apt-get install git qt5-default qt5-qmake qtbase5-dev-tools qttools5-dev-tools build-essential libboost-dev libboost-system-dev libboost-filesystem-dev libboost-program-options-dev libboost-thread-dev libssl-dev libdb++-dev libminiupnpc-dev libqt5webkit5-dev

$ git clone https://github.com/shadowproject/shadow

$ sudo apt-get install dphys-swapfile

$ sudo nano /etc/dphys-swapfile
scroll to: CONF_SWAPSIZE=
change it to: CONF_SWAPSIZE=2048
Ctrl + O to write/save
hit enter
Ctrl + x to exit
$ sudo /etc/init.d/dphys-swapfile stop
$ sudo /etc/init.d/dphys-swapfile start

cd shadow
qmake
make

$ sudo nano /etc/dphys-swapfile
scroll to: CONF_SWAPSIZE=2048
change it to: CONF_SWAPSIZE=
Ctrl + O to write/save
hit enter
Ctrl + x to exit
$ sudo /etc/init.d/dphys-swapfile stop
$ sudo /etc/init.d/dphys-swapfile start

make sure you are in /shadow and run ./shadow
The cool thing about this is that the resource swap actually uses your USB so if you have the room you could set it to whatever you want and since it is USB you don't have to worry about burning out your SD card. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me.

Also to update simply cd into /shadow and run:
Code:
$ git pull

Any involvement of btc at all creates a weak link for anonymity.  Plus another factor of volatility until btc gets their act straightened out.

Best would be a network of in-person exchange and that would get a lot of money guys interested in keeping sdt in stock thus supporting the price. The mobile wallets will be needed for that to be  practicable.

I cleared the shadow folder and got the blockchain downloaded.  Wallet says up-to-date now but now all my stakes have been mined but not accepted.  Any others having issues?

Check you have the most recent client, the latest is version: 1.4.0.3

If you need to get the latest download you can get it from https://shadow.cash

(do not download directly from links on this forum as they may be replaced with viruses)

The cool thing about this is that the resource swap actually uses your USB so if you have the room you could set it to whatever you want and since it is USB you don't have to worry about burning out your SD card. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me.

Also to update simply cd into /shadow and run:
Code:
$ git pull

I've got the wallet up and staking on Lesbian, same procedure works. It's also running Peerbox for Peercoin. I am using the SD card, no sign of heat or performance issues after a day, I'll let you know after a week! So far it's all running just like it did on a desktop.

The reason I'm confident is people have been staking SHA-256 full nodes with Peerbox for a couple of years now and there are no reports of any problem with the SD card. So it might have been a one-off, or something specific to Ubuntu. Of course all wallets are backed up, just in case.

Code:
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get upgrade

$ sudo apt-get install git qt5-default qt5-qmake qtbase5-dev-tools qttools5-dev-tools build-essential libboost-dev libboost-system-dev libboost-filesystem-dev libboost-program-options-dev libboost-thread-dev libssl-dev libdb++-dev libminiupnpc-dev libqt5webkit5-dev

$ git clone https://github.com/shadowproject/shadow

$ sudo apt-get install dphys-swapfile

$ sudo nano /etc/dphys-swapfile
scroll to: CONF_SWAPSIZE=
change it to: CONF_SWAPSIZE=2048
Ctrl + O to write/save
hit enter
Ctrl + x to exit
$ sudo /etc/init.d/dphys-swapfile stop
$ sudo /etc/init.d/dphys-swapfile start

cd shadow
qmake
make

$ sudo nano /etc/dphys-swapfile
scroll to: CONF_SWAPSIZE=2048
change it to: CONF_SWAPSIZE=
Ctrl + O to write/save
hit enter
Ctrl + x to exit
$ sudo /etc/init.d/dphys-swapfile stop
$ sudo /etc/init.d/dphys-swapfile start

WELL DONE SIR! I am going to try to add peerbox today.
Did you setup peerbox as a stand alone os or run their installer or compile from source?

Installed it with the apt-get. Nothing to it. But you need Debian, tried it, won't run on Mate.

It was about time that we wrote a small update on our recent progress. The decentralized marketplace is still in development, but a few team members decided to tackle **side projects** that are heavily intertwined with The Shadow Project.

We'd like to thank all the people who donated in response to the last update. We've gathered about **$130** in funds to support development. While it isn't much, we are very grateful for the donators. **Anyone who donated should hop on slack and the team will personally thank you for your contributions.**

  • Official BTC donation address: 1GiosBkSpN8RS9pm1kgZU8AZUBEnLKYFem
  • Official SDC donation address: SdcDevWEbq3CZgZc8UNbST1TaYLA5vLZTS

If you have never donated, please consider doing so. If you don't have any money, consider contributing your time and experience to our project. Hell, even popping by to have a chat and thank the team is a nice gesture.

To those that have donated, contributed and keep our chat alive: you are the people that drive us and we thank you.

Shadow Installer
Quote
"With all great software, comes a great installer."

A quote by a wise old Chinese programmer.

We have always aimed to be an easy solution without having to make compromises in the field of security or privacy. Our goal was simple: create an installer that takes care of everything we believe is essential.

THE LIST:

  • Secure deployment of software.
  • Automatically install and configure third party software such as **Tor** and **I2P**.
  • A clear interface that allows for dummy-proof installation.
  • Educate users about the risks and advantages of each component.
  • Support multiple operating systems.

The installer is currently *in development* but is already functional.
  • [✔] Basic interface [Linux, Windows, OS X]
  • [✔] Install Tor [Linux, Windows]
  • [✔] Download all files through Tor and HTTPS [Linux, Windows, OS X]
  • [✔] Install ShadowCash client [Linux, Windows, OS X]
  • [✔] Bootstrap the client through blockchain.zip method [Linux, Windows, OS X]

Not done yet:
  • [✘] A beautiful interface.
  • [✘] Update mechanism for ShadowCash and Tor.
  • [✘] Automatically check files against signed checksums for increased security.
  • [✘] Implement a smarter way to start Tor on Windows, the service deployment is a bit buggy.

Side projects
A select group of the team is getting involved in incorporating ShadowCash into new and established projects, which are not directly operated by the Shadow Team but form a great symbiosis and will certainly have the potential to become important pieces of the ecosystem in the near future. We're very excited about these, but we want to have something to show for when we release the news.

Official blog post
https://blog.shadowproject.io/2016/04/18/paving-the-way/

Cool. When the new installer will be released?

So there is no ETA for Shadow Installer?

Don't rush the team, they are working in their own time frames, just buy shadow while waiting, I bought around 25 and been selling for 32-34 for a while now, the market behavior works great for this kind of trading, getting very nice profit so far so just let the team work, every ETA for crypto is SOON.

Rather than selling off valuable coins to make a quick few bucks, I would suggest SDC is a very strong buy and hold at these prices. If the list of SDC projects in the works are successfully released in the near future, this coin will soon mop the floor with most of the current top 20 coins. A relatively modest investment will get you into the top 100 investors.

https://chainz.cryptoid.info/sdc/#!rich

Every trader has their own strategies, I am very comfortable making "quick few bucks" (around 4btc profit so far) without risking getting dumped, I minimize the risk, get profits and save a few just in case, without risking but profiting from it, don't get me wrong, nice tech, but im here to make btc.

Just saying, most of the real wealth has been made by picking a winner and riding it out. 4 BTC wouldn't keep me going more than a week.

Same can be said of people losing their money by picking something that seems like the winner and riding it out, change that to 7 now, rinse and repeat
