If we are considering services that could be UNO/DVC/Un-Ex for goods I'd be happy to provide for Australian residents Steam, Humble bundle etc... This is more for those people wishing to stay outsde the banking system since these services already accept paypal, bank card and in the case of humble bundle Bitcoin.

Also I'd keep it Aussie because steam gets upset sometimes when shifting games across regions. Sometimes...

I'd also like to broach a concept with the community soon (When I'm not so hungover from work holiday parties) regarding the facilitation of large crypto purchases i.e. Laptops, Motorbikes Cars and how that can be achieved without shattering the exchange market floor price with community support and a trust network.

When market volume is large enough, the price hopefully wouldn't be affected much by a large shift, though keeping it 'in-house' in the interim somehow would be the obvious answer. Of course, another way to do it while volume is still small could be to simply use BTC instead!

Thanks for your time, BTS.

And @ using BTC: as a 'default,'  of course. What I think Ian is saying is that we should 'cram' as much Uno and DVC and general TT-trading volume through here (and then 'the mall') as we can: transactional volume

It's going to be quite some time before there is enough velocity to buy a car with UNO and likewise a Car merchant willing to accept UNO for something so expensive, but there is a stepping stone to offer the facility now.

Im wondering if anyone could do some rough figures for me on how much effect say 4,000 USD of UNO being dropped on Cryptsy would have. I imagine 4K covers a small second hand car in ok condition.

My rough estimates put cryptsy UNO price at 0.00409997
after only a 4K dump and thats a small purchase. What about a new car or a house.

It can be achieved but done through an exchange everyone loses, the coin, the holders, the community and the seller(dumper)

Email isn't private unless you use encryption/PGP /etc., but honestly you should be safe enough using PM here for the transfer. The other option could be to take a photo of the card's PIN and share it privately on imgur, for example - only the recipient gets the share via email. Or, upload a text file on mega.co.nz and PM the url and email the encryption key, so you'd need both to access it. More than one way to skin this cat!

Verifying cragv:

"Here is an album of my two legit photos for TT verification. Note the same silver bars (thanks IMZ!) in different settings, angles, light - this is difficult to convincingly fake. Also note the album contains an example of a faked verification photo (plus a Making Of collage for reference). This is why two photos in different settings makes sense to me for comparison - it's easy to create (just take two different photos and post them) but difficult to fake (image editing can only go so far for the average person). Cheers."

"craigv was sent some bullion, just posting to confirm that." BigTimeSpaghetti Post 814

Would someone please check cragv's Verification photos? and say 'Second!'

cragv has a P-WIP underway -- but that's with me, so it can't count for Verification.

I vote that cragv be required to (a) complete several more trades, and (b) be a presence on Un-Ex 'til, say, the fifteenth of January

It's a good idea to have a duration for the process, but I just don't think it's practical, at least not 30(+) days.  Just too long.  If I was a newcomer, I wouldn't bother to go through that process.  Plus, people in crypto want things, 'Now, now, NOW!'  (Hmm, ...but that's the mentality where dumpers come from~.)  Well, those are my rambling comments, and you are lobbying for comments.

As long as they show their phizz and BCT handle, and have a star or two, and 3 In-House trades, I'm cool with it.

Would be nice to hear from 10 more people about their verification process opinion.

JIMHO.

No problem with BN and IMZ-Mark getting verified and getting your DVC's, since we know the money's in the vault.  (Silver is real money.)  Wink

"I second Mark and BN" - Benefactor.  (...Or was that BCharlie; I can't remember~!  Well, you know what I mean, anyway.)

"I also second cragv."  I don't want to give anyone a hard time.  We are just trying to establish protocol, etc.

...
"I also second cragv."  I don't want to give anyone a hard time.  We are just trying to establish protocol, etc.

I'll happily be a guinea pig for verification testing. How much do you actually know about me, anyway? Can I be trusted? What is my post history here and can you find any dirt on me via my handle (cragv) anywhere else on the internet? Is it even worth doing that search? Etc. etc.

On OCAU (Australian technology forum), new members need to wait 90 days before they can buy and sell in the trading sub-forums. Seems like a long time, but it certainly helps screen out the shady characters and as a result, trading on OCAU is a fairly safe experience (as long as common sense is applied, as with all trades anywhere).

For Un-Ex purposes, it doesn't seem unreasonable to me to require a verification process involving something like a 14-day probationary period where 3+ small trades must be made with good feedback for each. Follow it up with 2x photos of the same precious metals holdings of a set minimum value (2oz silver at current prices, for example). Lastly, two trusted members would post in the thread confirming they've eyeballed the 14+ day period's expiry where 3x successful trades were made and both photos are acceptable, and you're done. Sounds tedious, but all security involves some compromise of convenience and for the new member, making 3x trades and then posting 2x photos doesn't seem a big ask.

By the above logic, I have one trade to go. The following is experimental and I'm also happy to pay via fiat if this ends up being impractical on account of my geographical location:

cragv trade #03: WTB 21kg UNO for 3oz Intrinsic Tender XAG 1oz Cast Silver Bar
(At time of posting, swg's ticker reports 1kg UNO = USD$2.40 and 1oz Ag = USD$17.06)

Shipping:
- Pickup in person by arrangement from Hurstbridge 3099: free
- Australia-wide via Express Post: +3kg UNO (you'd send 24kg total)
- Tracked shipping to USA: +7kg UNO (28kg UNO total)

Terms:
- I'll send first then when you receive the bullion, you'd credit the agreed amount of UNO to my address.
- I'll leave feedback here and on the bitcointalk.org trading system at conclusion of sale.
- This offer is only made to existing Trusted Traders (for reasons of personal risk mitigation as I'm sending first!)
- Proof of (recent) purchase of this bullion privately available upon request.
- Offer current whilst silver and UNO prices are within 5% of current ($17.06 & $2.40051 respectively).

If you'd prefer to sell me some UNO for fiat, my offer is for USD$2.41/kg for amounts of 1kg to 10kg via PayPal (ie. I send USA$2.41 to $24.10 via PayPal). Cheers.

"Would be nice to hear from 10 more people about their verification process opinion.” Yes.

"On OCAU (Australian technology forum), new members need to wait 90 days before they can buy and sell in the trading sub-forums.” Highly relevant datum

Cragv wins big points for his patience.

My Thought:

One: the two-photos-from-different-angles thing (cragv’s conception) is pivotal.

Two: let’s issue cragv his DVC straight after his-and-my bullion trade. Bitcoin National gotta get his Nxt wallet going, and post satisfactory bullion photos – then he’s in.

Then take a deep breath.

Verifying cragv:
I vote that cragv be required to (a) complete several more trades, and (b) be a presence on Un-Ex 'til, say, the fifteenth of January
It's a good idea to have a duration for the process, but I just don't think it's practical, at least not 30(+) days.  Just too long.  If I was a newcomer, I wouldn't bother to go through that process.  Plus, people in crypto want things, 'Now, now, NOW!'  (Hmm, ...but that's the mentality where dumpers come from~.)  Well, those are my rambling comments, and you are lobbying for comments.
As long as they show their phizz and BCT handle, and have a star or two, and 3 In-House trades, I'm cool with it.

So dual angle shots prevents or at least complicates the photoshop phenomenon,

14 day waiting period seems quite practical to me, although we might require activity

and 3 minimum trades (2 Stars logically) offers a basic level as a DVC candidate.

I have always been a little squeamish about the photo thing but at the starting point with so few of us it didn't seem relevant.

The verification of community members is not to protect us from DVC fraud an almost impossible scenario. It is to ensure the strength of community core for larger more complicated and more profitable projects in the future.
