Could also have something to do with the Titan's warming up and Bitmain mining the shit out of stress testing their L1's before shipping them.

yeah its definatly the new bitman and titans coming online... crazy increase in network size over the last week

Another thing to keep in mind, in scrypt there are many switching pools. For example Clevermining has 300.000 Mh/s or 300 Gh/s. They are known to fully mine LTC from time to time if there is nothing else profitable to mine. If they'd move 80% of their capacity away to all new altcoins they'd have LTC drop down. If they'd move back they might tip profitability down and move away again. Wink

lol at wafflepools stats Smiley

scrypt   Hashrate: 9.89 GH/s   Mining: litecoin   vsLTC: 64%

somehow mining LTC is 64% as profitable as mining LTC ... erm... Smiley

man difficulty is skyrocketing...
BTC diff increases are much nicer now^^ It seems many miners switched to scrypt, maybe
now the time is right to get back into BTC mining..

Excuse me, BTC mining is 6000 times greater than LTC mining!    They aren't even close.   If bitcoin miners were switching over to scrypt, the difficulty rating would be going up 100% or more every 2 days.
But you understand the difference between the SHA- and the Scrypt-Algo, do you? I'm not claiming BTC-miners
switch their mining devices to LTC (which is not possible of course), I claim they are pumping money into
LTC-mining operations now instead of into BTC-mining operations.
Of coarse I understand the differences.   But think about the relative wealth differences.   It only would take a small percent of BTC miners sending their money into scrypt to totally crush the market.   Do you realize how much a 10 PH of sha256 mining costs?   We would be seeing a lot more increase than a few hundred GH.

I'm sure there is some cross over, but it doubt it is anything large scale, LTC mining is just so small scale compared to bitcoin.

LTC mining is just so small scale compared to bitcoin.

Hmm, I was doubting that, but maybe you're right.. Tried to run the numbers, but the problem is: The LTC hashrate is useless,
most miners do multipools. If I take just the LTC network + Clevermining and assume 4k5$ per GH,
I get 9m$ for Scrypt. For BTC at 500$ per TH I get 144m$. So at first sight (and I know, this calculation
is a crude approximation at best) it seems there is 15 times more money in SHA than in Scrypt. But I have
no idea what is the influence of the various multipools I ignored here.

Another way to look at it is LTC has 24 blocks an hour at 50 coins a block which is 1200 LTC an hour or only about 12 BTC.    Bitcoin should have 6 blocks at 25 coins a block per hour or 150 BTC.    So that means there is 12.5 times as much money in it per hour.   That probably doesn't look very attractive if you are a large bitcoin miner.   Small guys sure.   Now if LTC were still worth $20 that would be different I think.

Variance my friend Wink

This happens when they hold some coins for a better price. You will usually see a bump the next day that puts them above the average.

Same could be said for Alpha T looking at their latest dev update.

Sorry, off topic i know

Yeah, and it may turn in to 10 - 12 weeks after the added scrypt ASICs drop. However, there will be some kind of multiplication and 10-12 weeks is still a pretty solid return time frame.

Other manufactures of scrypt ASICs such as Bitmain, KNC, and the one's we don't know about. I would always take a conservative estimate when investing in mining. Hopefully, I am wrong and the difficulty will not jump significantly in the next month.

EDIT: If you buy from the link I posted before, it is an estimated ROI in 6.5 weeks with LTCgearcal  Tongue. I just added 200Mh myself.
