my antminer s1 has cgminer   3.12.0-1 is this ok or is there a later version

Well, you can update to Kano's Firmware if you go here:

https://github.com/kanoi/cgminer-binaries/tree/master/AntS1
EDIT: now the correct one

I run the newest Firmware on my S1 and I am verry happy with it.

Diff is purely cosmetic on this pool, and ckpool is designed to give you the best diff for your hardware very reliably. However if, for whatever reason, you want to try choosing a diff, you can set a minimum diff if you are running cgminer with the stratum protocol standardised --suggest-diff command which is supported by both current cgminer and ckpool. If you're not using an up to date official cgminer then you are confined to letting the pool choose.

It seems to take forever for cgminer to down regulate share difficulty (and only then start hashing) on low HR miners. (a 1.5Gh thumb and two sidehack sticks, the former on my pc and the latter on a minera-cgminer pi).
I was given this to use on the pi- but it doesn't work.
/var/www/minera/minera-bin/cgminerStartupScript: line 4: --suggest-diff: command not found.
I did add a space and a number(80) after 'diff'.
Am I correct that the pool will not down regulate until I find/submit my 1st 1K share? Seems so to me and this can take a long time.

Diff is purely cosmetic. You are wrong in thinking it only then starts hashing. It is hashing at the same speed whether you submit one 1k share every 10 minutes or hundreds of diff 1 shares.
You have 4 choices:
1. "It takes forever" - be patient
2. "It doesn't take --suggest-diff" - use the latest cgminer
3. Ignore it.
4. Mine elsewhere

Decimal points. You know, like how 4.5 is 4 and a half.

LOL. I knew that, but wasn't sure if it had another meaning or such. LOL
Didn't think you can have a bestshare that is less than '1'..

Congrats!
You gotta love those solo hauls.

I was able to see my name in lights after solving a block on kano.is a couple of blocks ago. I was fairly stoked to see that. I cannot even think of how excited I would be soloing here at the master colo pool with an S3.

Keep on keepin on... hashing

Transaction fees go to the pools and the pools decide to pay them to the miners. Anything else, including off-chain solutions are stealing and not the way Bitcoin was intended to function.
Make the block size set by the pool. Pool = miners and they get the choice.

I've never seen this much hashrate on this pool before...

Code:
{"hashrate1m": "8.26P", "hashrate5m": "6.86P", "hashrate15m": "5.25P", "hashrate1hr": "2.77P", "hashrate6hr": "1.41P", "hashrate1d": "1.21P", "hashrate7d": "1.05P"}

Not sure how long it's going to stay there though. These bursts are usually very short lived.

And it's gone as quickly as it came, alas without a block for them.

Received with much thanks! Maybe you'll even find more blocks.

A man can dream. 3 blocks in a year with under 10 TH/s is damn lucky.

Luck? Psssh. Make me your apprentice Smiley. Teach me your ways lol. I just want 1 block once I start up😁

2TH is just fine. You can try with a USB stick miner (30Mhs) and still win. It doesn't matter what the network is doing. With solo mining the only thing that matters is what you're doing.

Solo mining is alive and profitable!

Anything is possible, people in this thread have solved with an s3+ when the network was at 350PH.
Just depends how long you run.

Looks like you might find a block in roughly 6,000 days assuming the network continues at the same rate.

I pulled 2 billion with a compac stick mining at 9gh.

So 31 x 2 billion = 62 billion  or winner.

My point is 9gh x 31 = 279gh.

We had an s3 winner at 50 billion diff.

The only "good" share is one that is greater than network difficulty.  Yours is 30 times too small, so no, it's not a good share, sorry.

It's probably a bit above average for a typical S3 share, but none of that matters in the end.

It's a great share! Anything over 100,000,000 is worth being proud of. However, like Mike mentioned you only get paid for anything over ~64 billion. (64,000,000,000)

Still, it's a fantastic share. Nice pull! The highest one I've seen ever was pulled here a few weeks ago at 611 billion.  Shocked

If you're interested, I have an S3 running on a year-long experiment to solo mine a few coins. Read about it here

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1132914

Good luck! And congrats to the solver in the previous post!
