It's also worth noting that on this last block solved (386774), solo produced a massive block of 974.8 kB even though there were 4 blocks solved in the 10 minutes previously with only 715.6 kB, 332.7 kB, 126.9 kB and 193.4 kB each. Provided the transaction has an appropriate amount of fees, it qualifies as a valid transaction. I do NOT use any blacklists for "censoring" transactions either.  The current modifications I've made to this pool are able to do full block verification AND include massive amounts of transactions and is still the reference for speed for getting block updates out to miners. Transaction spamming doesn't hurt it, and neither SPV mining nor zero transaction blocks are required.

The recent push with hardware is efficiency - efficiency, efficiency, efficiency; that's the big headline with any new chip or miner that hits the scene.  But look at what efficient software can do, too.  It maximized the effectiveness of the hardware.  Imagine how much more efficient the network would be if every pool took more time to pay this type of attention to their code.
