or a DDos attack?
The dns is working
A huge Denial of Service attack is currently underway tainting the celebration of the found block. It was bound to happen sooner or later since solo hadn't yet suffered one. Fortunately I don't really give a shit nor will I give into any ridiculous demands so you can point your miners at one of the backup servers until it's over.

What is the point of DDOSing a small mining pool?  Money?  Some kind of payment?  Beside, CK has provided a bunch of great stuff to bitcoin....
People with teensy dicks stroking them trying to pretend they're big. That and making demands for money.

That's for virgin coins - i.e. the ones you get from the coinbase transaction of a found block.  if you're using the standard Bitcoin Core wallet, you'll see those coins show up as "Immature".

I don't know why people doing it?
If they want money, you are the last who benefit from the found blocks (0.5%).
And as you said, the backups are working!

Head up!

Thoose Idiots are just waisting their money!

Not if they work for f2pool...4 consecutive blocks in the amount of time it's supposed to take for 1.
That pool just created 100BTC ($43,000+) in TEN MINUTES.

F2pool is Chinese. They have most of the hash on the planet in huge farms. And they confirm their own blocks so they're the cause of a lot of US orphaned blocks as we've seen in the past. IIRC they were also the reason the first orphan happened on CK's pool.

They're also responsible for a fork that happened because of their crap SPV mining practice.

I'm not accusing them, I was just using it as an example.  There is a huge incentive to disrupt pieces of the BTC network.

Seems like the pool is still down. Can a DDos prevention service like cloudflare or similar be used to protect the pool?

Who's gonna pay for it with the piddly profit this pool makes? The size of ddos prevention scales according to fee and this attack looks rather big...

I can confirm that the other server is working fine with my set-up.  There is slightly more lag time but I highly doubt it will matter.  I'm just hashing away with a few hundred gh/s.

Ah ok I understand what you're saying. Hopefully everyone has set your other pools as backups.

Fingers crossed it doesn't continue for long.
