Design One by iawgoM

Design Two by elianite
I present to you the most secure physical Bitcoin ever designed: The Double Universal.

It is Luxury. It is Power. It is Symbol.

The Double Universal has it all.

Description of symbolism:
The rim is normal, shiny gold, encircling the work of art. The outer side rim has a binary code spelling out “January 3rd, 2009”, the date of the Genesis Block. A matte gold base highlights the shiny raised Latin text, “Strength in Numbers”, in between which is a number: Five.  5 BTC. Four arrows on the coin appear as those of a compass leading the way for universal adoption, but also hold a greater significance. This arrow containing the Bitcoin amount is the highest, pointing to the astronomical upward trend of it and other digital currencies, figuratively all the way up to the North Star. Contrasted with it is the downward arrow, which has the text “2 ozt 999 Au”. Though having near equal value to its sky-high counterpart at the time of the coins inception, the arrow signifies the declining importance of gold in the future of wealth, pointing it back towards the ground from which it was mined. Physical value is the past, Digital value is the future.
In the Center of the coin is a beautiful scene; the incorruptible bitcoin is shown amidst the Earth, Moon, and stars. To the left, is an arrow, as if a rewind button with the year ‘2009’. A small triangle symbolized the initial idea of, the completion of, and the presenting of the Bitcoin Whitepaper by Satoshi Nakamoto while the year signifies the beginning of the Bitcoin Era as the first block was mined. Next, one can imagine pressing the opposing fast-forward button to visit the year 2140 when the last block will be mined. The great Bitcoin transition will be complete, with all 21 million Bitcoin remaining for eternity as signified by the infinity symbol following the year.
Now we zoom out to view the entire face, where three major constellations each bearing seven stars poke out as intrusions to the mirror-like gold surface. 3 constellations of 7 stars each add up to 21, with each star symbolizing 1 million Bitcoins. As the stars, the incorruptible code will outlive this planet. As such the meaning of the lower text (H) becomes apparent: Universal Currency.

The Star Constellations displayed:
-Great Bear (Big Dipper)
-Little Bear (Little Dipper)
-Cassiopeia

More Description
On the BACK of the coin, you will find the standard information of year; hand engraved serial number, company name and ‘5 BITCOIN’ denomination, all separated by circuits to symbolize computers and mining which power Bitcoin. The hologram is where things start to get special:
The Hologram itself is the most secure ever created. It contains the popular safety feature of having a private key ‘window’, but it goes much farther than that. There are two more windows, showing both the Denomination AND serial number so they can be compared to those written on the coin. This takes away the possibility of someone somehow obtaining another hologram and using it. The hologram also features LASER RIMMING which has been utilized by Casascius for some of the most premium coins. The Hologram features a swirl-like chain to symbolize the blockchain which holds everything together and protects private keys and balances within it. The hologram is mostly black with gold and rainbow sparkles shining through, contrasting perfectly with the gold. there are also two smaller swirls and they key logo, both demonstrating the Cryptolator brand.

Hologram colors: B is bright gold, and private key windows are gold-like. The 'empty space' is mostly black, with gold sparkles and purple and red/yellow undertones. The Laser rimming is golden and blends in with the metal.

There is also an EASTER EGG under the hologram: If one redeems the coin they may find under hologram two circles of currency symbols that is otherwise hidden. In the outer circles every major world currency; Dollar, Yen, Euro, Pound, Ruble is represented, and another circle with the signs of various alt-coins. A Bitcoin symbol reigns supreme in the middle. None compare with Bitcoin, and are buried underneath it's private key.

FRONT
Gold in text section is MATTE, with text being raised and POLISHED.
The face is POLISHED, with the B, Earth, and Moon in MATTE.
Compass arrows are POLISHED
BACK
POLISHED, except for raised MATTE letters and under the hologram for grip.

Presentation:
The coin will be presented in the standard Coinographic box, but with a twist! The front will indicate that the coin is to commemorate 5 years of bitcoin, and showing the 'Bitcoin Era' of 2009-2140, and onwards to Infinity.

There will be a certificate card which will have an identical hologram attached in the middle, so as to make it visible when the box is open (so one can admire both the art and the hologram). The first bits are BLANK on the hologram, so it cannot be used for fraud. The denomination and serial number however are visible in the windows of the 2nd hologram, as to confirm the certificate belongs to the coin and is original. There is also a gold thread placed inside the hologram so it wraps around the card. For extra luxury, this could be replaced by a real gold chain!
In the box, the coin arrives in a classy black slab that can be opened by the buyer. (alternatively, it can be in a standard coin capsule)

About the artist: I am the author of a 30 page ebook about Casascius coins, and am working on a 150+ page book detailing all physical cryptos made to-date. To arrive at this design, I looked at dozens of coins by various makers, drawing inspiration. I humbly present you this coin, which I hope the community will find to be most symbolic, touching, and representative of Bitcoin; demonstrating both the past, present, and future hopes of all Bitcoin supporters.

Design Three by bit0

Design Four by S4VV4S
My idea is to create the coin using both yellow and white gold as to give attention to detail (yellow gold only version also included). I wanted something that truly stands out in terms of design, material, craftsmanship and presentation. A true luxurious coin that would make any coin collector proud to own one.

Design Details:
FRONT:
First as you have probably noticed, the Bitcoin logo is placed on top of an image of the moon (TO THE MOON!!!!) which is escorted by another 7 circles (or planets) giving a total of 8 planets – as much as the planets in our Solar system – as to state that Bitcoin is Universal currency.
The moon behind the Bitcoin logo also resembles the earth.
The circle containing the number 5 is earth – 5 continents - and the number 5 also symbolizes the years of Bitcoin and how fast it has been widely adopted.
The stars are also symbolic as there can be as many (maybe more) Bitcoin addresses as there is stars.
(Total number of Bitcoin addresses is: 1,461,501,637,330,902,918,203,684,832,716,283,019,655,932,542,976)
The two circles containing stars have a trail which is also a simplified version of open wings, symbolizing freedom – monetary freedom without any third party or middle man involved (banks, etc).
Around the edges the binary code translates to “five btc”.
On the sides of the coin (rim) the word Coinographic is engraved going all the way around.
BACK:
The hologram contains all the important information and has a geometric pattern (the one right after the bitcoin keys) that symbolizes the use of the net and the blockchain which is the basis of Bitcoin’s success. The trustless distributed consensus.

PACKAGE:
For the package I wanted to create something unique that will accompany the coin and give it the class and projection it deserves. It allows the coin to be displayed in all sides and provide protection at the same time. No need to open a box to view the coin. A coin like this should not be enclosed in a box.
The base will be plastic and the coin itself will be placed in between two, hard plastic sheets (plexiglass?)
The shape of the coin will be laser engraved on the sheets as to allow the coin to fit in properly.
The sheets will then slide in to the side of the base.

Design Five by bonksnp2
Here's an another version of my previous submission, plus the box to go with it.  I apologize for the graininess but I tried to illustrate how the engraved lines should look.  I'm unfortunately out of time so this is as pretty as it's gonna get.   This is what I was originally going for anyways, so I guess make this my official submission.  Grin

The back is almost the same as previous except I added a little black gloss to match the front.

The box is gloss black with a "BTC" window to look in and see the coin.  Engraved gold lettering on the front and sides help match the coin.

BTW, There have been some AWESOME submissions!  I think whatever design gets chosen, it's going to look amazing.

Best of luck to everyone!

I vote for design 4 by S4VV4S. Even though I submitted two of my own designs, I acknowledge their design as the best. I would be proud to own one of these coins in my collection when they win the final contest. Good luck!

I vote for iawgoM. Not only I know his great work (i.e. Urocoin logo, tons of work for FTC and other project) but it is simply the most slick logo in competition.

I vote for design number #1 by iawgoM.
Great design

As far as the copying goes the only similarly is the number 5 which I believe is older than either design.
Your older design has a 5 inside a bitcoin logo which is very different.

How can you patent number 5? The logo with 5 inside B is actually more clever but is inferior in details.

It's is about the concept to celebrate 5 years of bitcoin, which has been copied.

Not about how detailed a coin has been made

That doesn't prove that I didn't already had my design I was working on. What, I was supposed to give up on it after you posted yours? Really?? Don't blame me for making it better than you. Smiley

Coinographic, what is you opinion in this matter?
Coinographic asked for luxury design. Yours was too plain and simple tbh. Shall we compare the details of our works? You really think that two words "five years" made the whole difference? I don't think so.

Don't be a sore loser. I'm not going to discuss this any more because I'm tired of having to defend my work because it's actually better than someone else's.

You don't have proof. I do.
If you would have thought up facebook 10 years ago, but would have realeased it yesterday, it would have been a copy, even if you thought of it first.
Be a man/woman and just admit you copied it and we can move on.

Here is my two cents....

What a crappy selection....  in fact  I refuse to vote...

First, your contest rules clearly stated that entries must design everything... including the box...

Quote
You should design all aspects of the coin from the coin itself to the hologram and the packaging it will be supplied in.

Yet you awarded a winner who didn't follow the rules twice, by submitting ONLY a coin.   iawgoM. shouldn't even be considered, let alone getting early votes....  where is his box?  It is past the deadline and I don't see one.  How did he get selected as a final vote?

Also, you said

Quote
We are looking for people to be as creative as possible.  It is our intention to create the most luxurious & exquisite physical Bitcoin ever minted. We believe with the help of the community here we can do that!

Despite that, you selected 5 plain ol' round coins...  When the submission entries had

A CUBE

A SQUARE

AND BY FAR THE BEST OVERALL DESIGN THAT WASN'T EVEN SELECTED

If it were just these issues, possibly I wouldn't have posted in my frustration, and yes... my coin is the square one that wasn't selected but so far you selected a coin that had no box (should be disqualified) and also you selected this!!!

I MEAN HONESTLY WTF guys???

That coin is silver!  How could you possibly make it two grams "SOLID GOLD"?  The designer even states "engraved gold lines"  WTF!  How?

Overall this was a pathetic display Coinographic.  You could have actually taken a day to make sure you picked correctly.  This was terrible.

This is my idea guys WTF - I send it in earlier. He copied the who five year idea. Come on!

I've had the 5 bitcoin/year idea before you posted your suggestion. How can I prove it? Don't really know...sorry. Sad

where is your box?

It is required for entry and you didn't make one.

Guess you're out

No dude, I also send design for the box

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=693176.80

Final version

Where?

I see no post by you that includes a box...  I apologize if I am wrong but I see no post by you with any box.  Instead of linking me to the forum, can you quote the post?

I'm still voting iawgoM, I have worked with iawgoM and always been happy with the results, he is professional.

You clearly liked his design and you managed to overlook the box when you picked the finalists, I think it's wrong now to go back on that :/

Go back on rules?

LOL

Mr Umpire sir, ummmm  Buster Posey is clearly talented and all, so can you give him 4 strikes?  He shouldn't have to follow the same rules as everyone because of his talent and I played with him and he is very good.  Yeah 4 strikes and lets go with 4 outs too.

Oh people calm down please.

OK, I clearly missed the box part - because I got confused with this post by Coinographic: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=693176.msg7866076#msg7866076 I figured they already decided about the Bitcoin box, but that was for Litecoin - my bad, should have read it more carefully. But in post after that they said:

We will be using this supplier for all our boxes from this point on - very happy

Creating a box isn't a problem for me - and it will be better that yours for sure Wink If Coinographic wants me to do it, and they won't be using that wooden box...

Besides:
The winning designer confirms that;

1)   They agree to work with us after the voting is complete until the final coin design is produced, no matter the amount of time this takes

And yes, I agree to work with them as much as needed on anything that needs to be designed: the box, the toilet paper...blah...

As for some things that might look similar to other people's designs - I'm waiting for some kid to acuse me for using the word "Bitcoin" because he used it too Cheesy

You are not the ones who decide about any kind of disqualification - only Coinographic can do that. They make the rules and can change them if they want to. There is obviously the reason why they selected my work to top 5, and as far as I can see people here support my design too. Gold coins are serious business, not a flea market... Sorry for you not making it to the finals.

Whatever makes you feel better bro.  You made a bull on a coin and a big 5.  I am not impressed in the least.  I am not even saying that I should be in the the top 5 or the top 10. I never even said that your coin was bad. You didn't follow the rules. Neither did Mr. Silver Gold Lined 2 oz solid .9999 Gold silver coin. As I said, I am not a sore loser, congrats to you all. What I am saying is that you and gold/silver didn't follow the rules. That's all. And now all I have to choose from is 5 almost identical looking round plain coins. I am not even slightly interested in buying one of your coins. They are everywhere. Sure, I'd be interested at $4,000 but with the mark-up one of these would carry, I'd want something unique and different. Hell it is 2 oz. Solid Gold loaded with 5 btc. Why would I want a coin that looks like the silver rounds and every Litecoin they make. I won't vote or watch this thread cause I don't care who wins.  I already know. It is a round coin with a design on one side and hologram on the other.

And now you decide you will make a box? How nice of you.

Some people...

I did not bash your design bro.  I said you didn't have a box in and it was in the rules. So cool that you went and designed a box in 5 minutes.  I could win a lot of contests and auctions if I were allowed an extra 12 hours and paid no attention to rules...

Then, like an asshole you say,

Well, in my opinion it is pretty easy to get lots of early votes when it is 10am or 11am where you are and you post this....

Pretty sure you just told the entire Croatian board to come over and vote for your coin and what do you know, you have 4 or 5 people that have come over to say they vote for you.  You are really proud of yourself aren't you?  Shut up and be happy and humble that your 20 minute design went through despite your lack of paying attention to rules.  Also, the coin is supposed to be picked because it is best, not who can tell their buddies the best.

Last post and I am going to bed

FIRST - COINOGRAPHIC ALREADY MADE THEIR DECISION, BY NO MEANS HAVE I ASKED THEM TO RE-DO IT. IT IS DONE. I WAS POINTING OUT THE MISTAKES

And I have no issue with you pointing out the coin, but to go shove it on our faces, "and it seems everyone else here is happy with my coin." You mean everyone you just told to come vote for your coin including your alt account and FTC friends?  Just makes you look desperate to hold your spot.  You stole the box design clearly, so yes, I can see it took you 3 minutes just like the bull you put on a gold coin I've seen a thousand times.

We are not trolling in any way. You could have been humble and not tried to boast about your "superior design" and lack of care for rules.

That's all.  Again, congratulations on sneaking through.

And a side note....  the contest was about being unique.  Different. Original

We are all very impressed at your 3 minute box design.  TOTALLY UNIQUE

Much like your coin which is OFF THE CHARTS UNIQUE AND ORIGINAL

But, it seems like a trend in this contest, originality all over the place....

Yeah, you deserve to be very proud and boastful.

Why inventing the hot water? They said they will use this box. I just made a quick draft based on it... doh!

Much like your coin which is OFF THE CHARTS UNIQUE AND ORIGINAL

Do you even know where my bull is from? Wall Street, no? You get it...Bitcoin, finance etc...? And that one didn't go to finals at all.

Thank you very much, I did had 2 more people liking the design before the Submission ended.

To be honest there was other coin design I did like too, Mr. Iynx Design and had potential, yet again was not included in the top 5.

+1 on Mr. Bau  I thought it was very nice.

I'm off to sleep and won't be following this thread any more... no need.

Spoiler Alert

I know the winning coin...

Round, with a design on front and a hologram on back. Exciting as watching paint dry.

But I will be interested in buying one of these fabulous coins.  My offer is 4k... maybe

btw... not making hot water. I was pointing out the bad selections until one of those decided to start saying he was the Jesus Christ of coin making with all his followers....

This contest is a scam!!! I demand the community does a revote for the 5 best designs. All the coindesigns that don't at least contain a 3 minute box and that are not solid gold should be disqualified!
Coinographic you truely failed!

First I would like to say that my vote goes to Mr. Bau.
I had expected his design to be in the final 5.
Even though I was curious what do gears have to do with Bitcoin, it clicked.
Bitcoin, it just works like a Swiss clock.
(that was your idea right?  Wink)

Secondly, I too have some comments to make but I believe it is wise to wait for Coinographic to make their comments/statements first.

Third, to anyone reading the description of my design please keep in mind that, that is specifically for my first submission (see pics below) even though the elements/details are more or less the same for this one as well.

Ok, i wanted to post to deal with some issues and respond to people’s comments.  This will be the only comment we make on these issues on this thread, if you want to discuss them further then please send us a pm, email us or give us a call and we will happily discuss it with you;

This is my idea guys WTF - I send it in earlier. He copied the who five year idea. Come on!

The coins are not similar in anyway regarding the design.  It is true that you posted the 5 years of bitcoin idea before iawgoM.  The "5 years of bitcoin" had no bearing on our reasons for selecting this design over yours.  Thank you for your entry

I'm really surprised that my design didn't got selected on the top 5 even if it had 2 likes already,
If the problem is the printing thing that was mentioned on the post then the same thing applies to the iawgoM design.
Coinographic I'm disappointed on you, when I asked if I should continue working on it you should had said the truth, I wasted some time working on it.

There are other designs looking awful compared to this the quality is higher on mine

When we said you should continue working it, we had not made any decision as to who might get selected for the final 5.  We are sorry you are disappointed, but we had to select 5, ultimately there will always be people that are disappointed.

We made a decision when reviewing the entries that the coin needed to be round.  Whilst we do like the creativity of the odd shaped coins, we just felt they are not representative of a coin.

Regarding the boxes…  It’s important to remember at this stage all designs are just concepts, not final products.  The designer will be required to design a box should that design win.  When the voting is over we will work with the winning designer to perfect the concept and complete the product design.

As far as your comments go on the design by bonksnp2, we saw this very much as a white/yellow gold coin.  It is the concept of this design that we like and that’s why we chose it.

We are happy with our selections.  5 of us in the office all rated each coin from 1-10, then all votes were added together to form a total score and select the final 5.

Can i please remind everyone that this is a thread to post a vote for the coin you like the best.  If you don’t like any of them, please don’t vote or post.

It seems this thread is filled up with posts from designers that didn’t get selected, this is inappropriate and unprofessional.  Anyone else notice how there are no negative comments from anyone else?

I would request please if a moderator can clean up this thread and keep it for the purpose it was created

Thank you

Coinographic the 5 designs you have choosen clearly are fails. The coin from iawgoM has no box so it should be disqulified and the other coin is not a solid gold coin design, so this one also should be disqualified.
Also the 5 people whos coins have made in the top five are sending pms to buy votes.
This whole contest is a failure and I will not be voting. I can also tell you that you will never sell the 100 coins.

You could have actually taken a day to make sure you picked correctly.  This was terrible.
+1 - I totaly agree - this was more than terrible, this was an epic fail!

My guess coinographic just wanted come free ideas, the prize was too big anyway, should have listened to Robert: Whenever there is any doubt, there is no doubt.

My two cents....  well again, so 4  Huh

and I know I said I was done but when I saw Coinographic replied, I had to see...

You may find my comments unprofessional if you like.  Yes, I did lose. Again, I did NOT think I'd be in the top 5 but when I saw the top 5 I was bewildered.

Let me tell you what I find UNPROFESSIONAL

Here is your exact words from the contest description....

Quote
"To give you some specifications of exactly what we are looking for...

Firstly the coin will be a limited edition of just 100 coins, minted in 2 ounces of .9999 solid gold.  The diameter of the coin will be 41mm.  The BTC value of the coin will be 5 Bitcoins.  You will need to leave space on the back of the coin for a 33mm hologram. You should design all aspects of the coin from the coin itself to the hologram and the packaging it will be supplied in.

We are looking for people to be as creative as possible. It is our intention to create the most luxurious & exquisite physical Bitcoin ever minted.

someone else says:

"I know you didnt mean this, but i actually think a square coin would look cool. Definitely uncommon..."

Quote

Great idea! why not? These are the kind of ideas we are looking for.  Cant wait to see some submissions start coming in...

Then you come and reply to us that have some issues with...

Quote
We made a decision when reviewing the entries that the coin needed to be round.  Whilst we do like the creativity of the odd shaped coins, we just felt they are not representative of a coin.

No shit a square is not a coin.... Yet the square idea was "exactly what we are looking for"

Quote

Regarding the boxes…  It’s important to remember at this stage all designs are just concepts, not final products.  The designer will be required to design a box should that design win. When the voting is over we will work with the winning designer to perfect the concept and complete the product design.

Oh the winner has to design a box?  Hmmmm, nice to mention this after 30 of us designed a box.

Quote
As far as your comments go on the design by bonksnp2, we saw this very much as a white/yellow gold coin.  It is the concept of this design that we like and that’s why we chose it.

Wow!  You have lost all credibility with me....  I will not ever buy from you...  WHITE GOLD!!! ARE YOU KIDDING? Your rules say .9999 SOLID GOLD

--White gold is an alloy of gold and at least one white metal. In order to make the gold white, it is combined with metal alloys that are white in nature and plated with an extremely hard element called rhodium. Although strong, rhodium may wear away over time. Replating is a simple process that can be done to restore whiteness to rhodium-plated jewelry.

Quote
We are happy with our selections.  5 of us in the office all rated each coin from 1-10, then all votes were added together to form a total score and select the final 5.

Maybe I'll run a contest some time.  Have you spend a few hours on it. Then change the rules and try and make you feel like you are in the wrong.

You are a joke.

Your design isn't solid gold and clearly fails to meet the contest rules of designing a "solid gold coin". You should also be disqualified!
So basically we have 3 designs that shouldn't even be in the final 5 because they fail meet the contest rules.

Couldn't agree more with the guys above, Even if I'm not chosen I don't reply in hatred,
But there were other designs better than what you choose.

We are happy with our selections.  5 of us in the office all rated each coin from 1-10, then all votes were added together to form a total score and select the final 5.

Coinographic, you and the other 4 guys are blind. This is a total joke and your company will not be taken serious anymore.
I am no designer and I also did not post a coindesign for this contest. I collect gold coins and I can tell you the 5 designs that you and the other 4 guys in your office have choosen are weak, very weak. Also 3 of those designs don't seem to comply with the contest rules. You and your company are a joke. I will definatly be buying my gold coins from somewhere else in the future. Also that "elianate" guy was sending pms offering a payment of 20$ in BTC if anybody can designs his handdrawn coin with photoshop. So actually 4 of the 5 designs clearly should not be in the top 5!

Your design isn't solid gold and clearly fails to meet the contest rules of designing a "solid gold coin". You should also be disqualified!
So basically we have 3 designs that shouldn't even be in the final 5 because they fail meet the contest rules.

WRONG.
My design is solid gold.
Have a look at my submission.
A solid yellow gold version was also submitted.

@Coinographic

Actually, one of my designs was selected yet I have some comments to make:

1) One of the designs you have selected is already facing 2 claims of copyright infringement and it was not complete, it is missing the box.
Specifically speaking about iawgoM's design who's front side of the coin is a copy of Mr. Bau's and LitecoinCollector's designs and the back, the center of the hologram is a copy of your existing hologram.
Apart from that he/she has not provided ANY details regarding “his/her” concept.
It would have been nice to know how they came up with “their” idea.

Your rules have been broken both in terms of delivering a complete design and in terms of violation of copyrights.

And to quote:

Quote
You should design all aspects of the coin from the coin itself to the hologram and the packaging it will be supplied in.

Quote
The winning designer confirms that;

1)   They agree to work with us after the voting is complete until the final coin design is produced, no matter the amount of time this takes
2)   That the design does not infringe on any copyright and is an original work created for the purpose of the competition
3)   They agree to sign a copyright release for the finished design over to us

Those are your rules right?
And you are firm about sticking to the rules right?

2) It has been proven that two of the finalists are asking people to vote for their design.
Specifically speaking iawgoM and elianite
So this voting thing is not working simply because it is he/she who knows the most people not the one who has the most skills and creativity.

And to quote:

I vote for iawgoM. Not only I know his great work (i.e. Urocoin logo, tons of work for FTC and other project) but it is simply the most slick logo in competition.
iawgoM +1

I vote for design #1 by iawgoM. I just like his work the best and consider it most appropriate for this competition Smiley

Btw I am already familiar with his work and I can assure you that he is best choice for winner.

Vote: iawgoM

I'm still voting iawgoM, I have worked with iawgoM and always been happy with the results, he is professional.

You clearly liked his design and you managed to overlook the box when you picked the finalists, I think it's wrong now to go back on that :/

Samo treba ukratko dati vote za moj design, ako vam se svidja...minutica posla...Hvala!

(it seems like a lot of people know iawgoM very well, they even support him even though they know his idea is stolen. Apart from what is quoted above some of his votes comes from members who didn't post anything in quite a while.)

One or some of the contestants are blasting out PM to members to vote on them.
Just FYI.

Quote
This was me. I sent dj6230 a friendly message linking to this thread, since I had bought a physical bitcoin from him some time ago. I felt this was appropriate and well within the ideals of fair play. I encourage everyone to vote for the coin they see as being the most worthy.

Now, I truly appreciate the fact that you have chosen one of my designs, however I am obliged to be honest here when I say that I feel that this competition is rigged in the sense that, well, like I said, some finalists are asking for people to vote on their design and you allow a stolen idea to participate as a finalist who just so happens to collect votes from people he asked to do so.

Apart from that, allowing ANY design that has clearly been marked as a copy of someone else's work and even worse proceeding with producing a such coin will also make you responsible in case of any legal claims since you have been warned and the work of the members who’s ideas got stolen are watermarked and timestamped.

All of the above being said I call upon theymos or any other moderator to go through all my private msgs as to verify that I had NOT contacted anyone as to vote for my design.
My thread posts are visible to anyone I believe.
Just to make that clear.

My apologies for having to say all this but like I said I feel obliged to be 100% honest about this whole matter, regardless of the fact that I will win at least 0.25BTC.
And there is quite a few people that feel disappointed about this and to be honest I agree with their reaction and frustration about the matter. It’s simply not fair.

PS: Also, I would have preferred if you have chosen the Octagon version of my coin.

@iawgoM
Do you know what is the difference between arrogance and self confidence?

An arrogant person thinks they are better than everyone else yet it has been proven that arrogant people are nothing but talk and usually steal other people’s ideas and present them as their own.

A person who is self confident knows that they can meet the deadline with something ORIGINAL.

Guess which one you are…..

After some deliberation with the partners of the business and in the interests of being fair, we have decided to open up all designs for the vote.

It was our intention from the very beginning of starting this business to be a company that had all of our products built directly from within the communities that drive them.

The prizes will stand.  1st place will win the coin and 2nd-5th will win 0.25 BTC.

This is by far the ultimate in fairness to everyone concerned and will truly ensure we get the best design as voted for by the community.

Can a moderator please lock this thread? we will re-open voting shortly with all the designs to vote on.

Thank you

Finally some common sense has hit you. Now how about you disqualify eliante for trying to buy votes and for paying a designer to photoshop his handdrawn design. bonksnp2 because he failed to design a solid gold coin and iawgoM for not posting a box and stealing an idea (even a one minute box would have been enough).
How do you plan on making sure that the votes comming from the community can not be manipulated?

Blah blah blah...yada yada yada...

1. I stole nothing from noone. Ideas were all mine.
2. Do you even know what copyright is? What they meant is "Don't put Coca Cola logo on the coin, because we're going to get sued for using registered trademark." People are accusing me for what? Using word "five". I mean, daaaaamn!?
3. People support me because I've done tons of good quality design jobs, with nothing but great understanding and cooperation so far. Kill me because of that, pls  Huh And actually I told some people to vote for me "if they like my design..."

I'm done with this...Good luck to all in open voting.

Oh leave me F-ing alone dude!? Yes, people who worked with me and support my work have the right to vote, right? You don't have any friends who respect your work? So sorry, that's not my fault.
Nothing scammy around here. I've lost many contests because some noobs made awful work in Paint and got bunch of their friends and even fake accounts to vote for them.

1) Yeah right.
"Ideas were all mine....."
"It doesn't matter that the front is a copy of Mr. Bau's and LitecoinCollector's designs who happen to have posted their ideas before mine."

2) Do you know what watermarks are used for?

3) People support you because you asked them to do so.
If I went in the Greek forum and asked all Greeks to vote for my design "if" they liked it I can guarantee to you that they would vote for it even if they didn't like it.
Also, I am really curious to see some of your previous work. I wonder where you "draw" your inspiration from.

Sorry to say this but Mr. iawgoM, but we all have friends, should we all ask them to vote for us and have a voting battle, or should be a fair contest and let people choose?

Coinographic, when you open voting through the community you should think about making this a fair vote.
For example each voter should verify him- or herself with his or her facebook account. No new facebook accounts that have been created after the 31st August. And no new bitcointalk.org accounts that have been created after the 31st August.
Just an idea.

Sorry Mr. iawgoM, but we all have friends, should we all ask them to vote for us and have a voting battle, or should be a fair contest and let people choose?

Your coin wasn't even gold...nor white gold...it was black?!...Great design I have to agree, but for screen, not sure is it possible to mint a coin with such a small details - would be great though. Did your work inspire me? Could be, doesn't have to be, I think it didn't.

See, I had and still have many comments of every design that was posted. But I kept my mouth shut. Didn't go around and whine, accuse, spit on other people's work. And you all just got scared because of two things:
1. It seems that I made a nice coin (call this arrogant, self-confident, whatever...)
2. There is obviously lot of votes for me

For those reasons, you all just stand united and try to find a way to eliminate me...

Really?

So how comes nobody is accusing me of anything?
Or Mr. Bau?
Or the LitecoinCollector?

Or anyone else for that matter - except from elianite who also tried to buy votes.

Mr . Bau your coin should also be disqualified. It was clearly stated that it has to be a solid gold coin. Your coin has a lot of black in it. Coinographic even asked you to make a gold coin design, which you did not do.
Also as a professional coin collector I can tell you that your coindesign is not mintable (the designs of the "clockwork" is to small and would break off).

That is not going to work.
As you can see some people asked already registered members who they are friends with to vote for them.

We will NOT be disqualifying anybody!  Every design submitted will be put out for the open vote.  If you don't like the design, you don't have to vote on it.  With boxes or without boxes - all designs will be included.  The winning designer will have to make all aspects of the design as per the terms of entry but this can we done after the winning concept is selected.

We are working on a clear set of rules for the voting, which if broken will cause a disqualification.

We will post the open voting thread as soon as possible.  In the mean time if a moderator sees this thread, can they please lock it

And we all know that iawgoM asked his buddies in the Croatian and Feathercoin forums to vote for him.

Mind you random visitors will vote truthfully, not because they have been asked to do so.

This is a difficult one.  We all have friends and i am sure we would all like our friends to support our work.  All voters would have had to have a bitcointalk account registered prior to the 31st August which will stop people registering just to vote.  I guess we could add a minimum post count for a vote to be counted as well, but its pretty easy to build that up.  I'm open to suggestions.  Maybe

you must have made a post on bitcointalk within the month of august for the vote to count / but that could discount a lot of genuine voters

open to ideas....

It is indeed a tough one.
I mean some of iawgoM's friends just vote blindly even though the voting in this thread was terminated.
they don't even go through the trouble of actually reading a bit of the thread.

Anyway, yes it is a very difficult task and to be honest I have no clue on how this can be done and be 100% fair..  Undecided

Here some ideas:
(1) Allow only hero and legendary members to vote. I am sure none of the coindesigners have friends that are hero and legendary members because these are the early adopters from 2009.

(2) Let the voting take place on three or four other forums and not here on bitcointalk.org. In the end the total votes for each design from each forum are added up.

(3) Vote on facebook only? But here you would have the problem that all the friends would also vote for the same designer.

(4) Vote with an envelope by registered mail only.

Let me guess, only fair voting system is where noone is allowed to vote for me?  Lips sealed

If it's like your buddy rob and wellenreiter (and others) who just vote for you (regardless of the fact that some of them did not see that there is no more voting) then no.
They shouldn't vote because that vote will not be true.
It's just your buddies doing you a favor which in turn is not a favor.
They just make you worse because they are not voting truthfully.
Therefor you are only having the illusion that you are a good designer.
Personally I think you are a fraud and that you are lying to yourself.

I was afraid this was going to get a bunch of people bent out of shape. It's a shame it turned out like this.

And I don't remember who all was not happy with my design, but I have every single saved version of the coin (the final submission was v15) if anyone questions my originality.  I saw someone comparing my coin to another one and while I have to admit the do look similar, I hadn't seen that coin until today.

Also, I probably should have included more of an explanation of what materials were used in my design. I did ask during the competition if using both yellow and white gold was allowed and was told it was.

Mostly irrelevant though. I agree with polyteam-coin (even though he's destroying my design  Wink) that voting might be most fair on forums that aren't directly involved. Or maybe reddit?

Or maybe just ask mods from here, Litecoin, Dogecoin, etc to vote.

Perhaps the designers of the contest should chosse a design, not the own obviously. For 50% of the count.

We put our time and effort in it and it is fair this way.

Of course you love your design, and of course you think it's the best, but honestly the gear theme is a little weird.  I've never seen gears associated with bitcoins before.  And like I said before all those little keys are almost impossible to carve into a working coin die.
