Hey everyone,

The opal team prides itself on responsibility and honesty.  One of our pentesters found a flaw that must be fixed in order to protect Opal users.  The launch will still happen, hopefully within 24 hours, but we cannot make any promises.

Thank you for your support, and we'll make sure we make this worth your time.

~Bass

Thank you for your trasparency.  However, it is not a big delay and it is nice to know a flaw is going to be patched.

In summary, the Intel Management Engine and its applications are a backdoor with total access to and control over the rest of the PC. The ME is a threat to freedom, security, and privacy, and the libreboot project strongly recommends avoiding it entirely. Since recent versions of it can’t be removed, this means avoiding all recent generations of Intel hardware. details https://libreboot.org/faq.html#intelme --- https://tehnoetic.com/laptops --- https://store.vikings.net/x200-ryf-certfied

Opal Market Update

First off, We want to thank all of you in the Opal Community for being so patience and being so active about getting the word out about the market. We are as frustrated as you are about the delay, but as we've stated before we only want to release stable developments.
We are currently working to patch the site for security purposes before full release and will be continuing to improve and upgrade the site in the coming weeks and months.

However, we did not want to leave you empty handed today.

We are opening the Opal Marketplace up for preregistration today and if the patching goes well you will be able to begin selling your goods soon. Feel free to send us feedback on your thoughts on the Marketplace, we are always looking to improve.

So, without further adieu

http://market.opal-coin.com/

Please remember, the site is open to registration only

Thank you,

Opal Team

The market is based on the opal network (p2p), isn'it?

Thank you for the response. Great job anyway, this project is getting better day by day thanks to the awesome team behind it.

Thanks a bunch for the update.

I know the marketplace is beta and there are still plenty of things to come.  With that said, you guys should really look at how Themeforest.net and the rest of the Envato markets are designed. (http://market.envato.com/)  Working towards a platform that can contend with these guys would set Opal apart from any and every coin that is out there.  http://themeforest.net/ brings in millions of dollars a year from website templates.  They have wordpress themes that sell millions just for 1 theme.  The Opal marketplace could be perfect for this.

If we could skim off just a small part the template market and add that with the other digital goods that will be sold on the platform, will create a huge amount of usability and buy pressure for Opal.

For those of you that are not familiar with ThemeForest, you use paypal to deposit funds into your Envato account.  You then use those credits to buy themes or other digital goods.  You get a discount when you deposit funds before a purchase or pay a slightly higher price if you are making a one time deposit to purchase 1 item.  The same can be done with Opal but using bitcoin.  The fees to sell on the Envato market place can be as much as 55% of your total sales.  http://themeforest.net/make_money/become_an_author  If Opal's fees were less than this and the market place grew, we could see an influx of authors moving from other platforms to our marketplace.

Usability and buy pressure.  That's what all coins strive for and Opal could do it if they can build a competitive platform.

Hey guys!  We're getting closer to squelching this flaw!

We had to do a db reset, so you will have to sign up again if you did already.

Also, you can now list items, but purchasing won't work until we give the go ahead

Thanks for you and the OPALTEAM keeping the community updated and being so transparent with what you guys have been up to.  Very professional and honest of you guys and that's why I have no doubt in my mind that OPAL will definitely be a long term hold coin and achieve a good positive look for coins in crypto to follow Smiley Keep up the amazing work guys and Congrats on everything so far!! Cheers Wink
