Can you place the bitcoin address of the crook into the forum so I can cut and paste?

Thanks
Crook has been busy.
I'll bet they are doing something stupid like copying over top of the config file.
It would be in the web script that happens when the save and apply is clicked.

script file is this on the s3
/usr/lib/lua/luci/model/cbi/cgminer/cgminer.lua

That is where the save and apply lives

/usr/lib/lua/luci/model/cbi/cgminer/cgminer.lua

That is where the save and apply lives

The config file is
/etc/config/cgminer

On the s3 the permissions are 664
you can edit the file and then set the permissions to 444

chown 444 /etc/config/cgminer

Then it cannot be changed until you set it back

chown 664 /etc/config/cgminer

This will lock the file so nothing can change it, make it read only

Awesome! I just upped my hash power the other day too, 20TH/s! Feel bad (not really) for the 2PH that dropped off Kano in the past day.

Beware of scammers.

Um... well, you might want to flash the firmware as a first step.  Go to S4 Firmware to get it from Bitmain.

Also, make sure you don't have that miner exposed to the outside world (i.e. you don't have port forwarding to it).  Change the password for sure.

Wow, where did you get the miner? Maybe seller flashed it with his own info but looking at the address your not the only one this is happening to, this hacker made over 8btc so far with this hack.

I bought the miner off of Amazon from HolyScott computers, although I swear when I ordered it it was from Centrix and was advertised as fully refurbished including a new image flashed to the SD card. I also updated it to the CG miner 4.8 myself from the Bit Main site.

Yes, I immediately tracked down this scumbag using block explorer and he or she has so far gotten a pretty good haul using this one address. It's pretty pissy but I think I've gotten enough tips from the good people here to right the ship. Man, I freaking hate thieves and liars.

@kano

I'd also suggest you contact not-so-nice-hash immediately and get them to block the address

That's a good idea and I'm going to do it. 14wsz2DGdQWLBgf63PXc14gboLFVgFyQ13

@omega015

how are you currently accessing the miner? is it on your local network or remote somewhere?

I access the miner by plugging it into my router and then going to its address on the LCD screen of the miner through my browser. I cannot open my router for some reason.

Quote
Try this website to see if your router is open to either port 80 or 22 (SSH) http://www.canyouseeme.org/
If it is, you need to get into your modem/router settings and close any port forward that's open.

In the mean time I also suggest disconnecting your internet (cable or dsl line but leave your modem/router switched (if its providing your IP address/wireless). Leave your laptop/pc connected as normal and the antminer. Then reset the antminer and using the default IP, login and first change the password to something else. Now you can setting it up how you want with your IP, pool settings etc.. and see if the problem returns.

EDIT: if the problem still persists after this then there is something dodgy on the miner itself that needs resolving in the software/firmware.  BTW are you getting the firmware from bitmains website?

I've reset all those things while the s4 was connected and operating. However, I do need to go and do that offline. I didn't know it was possible. Thank you. I am getting the firmware from bitmain's website.

I appreciate that you stepped up as the pool operator. Now I know I made the right switch.

I would open up the S4 and take the SD card out and put it into a PC and format and flash the SD card or use a new SD card.  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1204682.msg12647062#msg12647062

Also looking at the image it seems that anybody can get to your S4 with the public IP address.

In my research online I found a video on Youtube that mentions doing this and I am going to open this up tonight and reflash the image. Thank you.

Thank you for all of your help. I appreciate it a lot. It's very frustrating to have come into this problem. It alleviates a lot of the anguish when people more knowledgeable than myself will help me get back to hashing. I had to respond to everyone's replies in one post because I am new to the forum and there blockades in place that limit my ability to post. Thank you all again. I will update after I have tried everything suggested.

Good luck and I hope one of those things helps to resolve the issue. This is a great pool with lots of people happy to help out our fellow miner. If you need any thing else I am sure I speak for most here when I say that we are ready to help out (as you've seen already).

EDIT: its a shame you didn't get hashing today with those nice blocks we found  Sad

I can't believe it. 4 blocks today, this is madness! This is my first week in Kano's pool, and I can't complain haha.
This are great times to be here, but remember, not every day will be like this. We have to stay on bad luck times too.
CKPool family!

Thanks Kano, CK, and Zach.

Long Live Kano.is!

You're configuring kano (or any other) pool in your S4, but it gets overwritten by what's in the screenshot?  You've been hacked.

Not much hacking was needed for that one. IP address in the screenshot is a public one and resolves to what looks like a Charter customer in Forth Worth.
