Ive been reading a plenty and maybe its a good idea to make some info found here available as we are closing to 400 pages on the kano.is homepage in  a tips & tricks page. Same for a do's and donts page ;-)

While it is fun goofing around and mucking up it might scare away some new members.

Thinking about firmware updates for miners by kano(something i still dont understand tbh) or something that explains how to do it, reccomended settings for miners, fan mods etc etc .....

This way we can point new members to that page instead of littering this forum and experienced members can share their knowledge and proven setups more easily.

Guys,

Do you buy your devices straight from china or from the US ? Im located in europe but the communication with the guys from china is lacking and i cant order psu's for some strange reason.

Ive found articles sayin a certain Yoshi sells them in the US but the sites seems old and outdated.

Is been told the S7's like heat and will hash better if you run them on the hot side. I have my fan speed set at 38% and they run at 54-55 temp

Bought thru Bitmain in China many times without problems, but I do live in the US. Not sure why you cant order the PSU? It shows on the website forsale? If I had my choice I would buy direct from Bitmain instead of Yoshi. There was a problem a while back where Yoshi went silent for a while and he lost a lot of trust with some.

BTC Help, please. Kano sent me from the IRC Node to ask for help in solving this problem.

I have recently switched from another pool to Kano's (kano.is) because I was having this problem and now it is occurring on kano.is. I am registered on the site and have put in the stratum .3333 at kano.is for my configuration. And then of course I click save and apply. However, immediately upon doing so, this screen appears.

https://i.imgur.com/xmNZ0O2.jpg

Whenever this screen pops up I am immediately disconnected from the pool that I have (in this case kano's) put into my miner's configuration page whereas kano's URL was showing up under my status page's pool URL section. Now this Mr. Nice Hash appears. I have tried resets and reboots, disconnected the power, and shut down my miner altogether. The problem persists. I've got an s4. Please advise. Thank you.

You're configuring kano (or any other) pool in your S4, but it gets overwritten by what's in the screenshot?  You've been hacked.

EDIT: here's that address on blocktrail.

Jonny's Pool - Mine with us and help us grow!  Support a pool that supports Bitcoin, not a hardware manufacturer's pockets!  No SPV cheats.  No empty blocks.

That's horrible news. What can I do to get past this and back on track?

Um... well, you might want to flash the firmware as a first step.  Go to S4 Firmware to get it from Bitmain.

Also, make sure you don't have that miner exposed to the outside world (i.e. you don't have port forwarding to it).  Change the password for sure.

Reset it to factory defaults and change pasword at first id guess, reflash firmware iff it persists as it should be in the code somewhere

Glad to see the pool having a lucky day today! Now if I could just win the Powerball tomorrow.....  Shocked
Great way to start the weekend with all these blocks.

If I win power ball I'm building myself a little bicoin mining farm.  Yee-haw!

Same here, hit the Powerball and buying 500 SP50's and building a hanger in greenland. Kano will be 10% of the network very shortly

Wow, where did you get the miner? Maybe seller flashed it with his own info but looking at the address your not the only one this is happening to, this hacker made over 8btc so far with this hack.
