Maintenance is taking a bit more than expected. I updated to Bitcoin 0.7.1, and he complained about errors on the blockchain database. I deleted it and now it's still downloading. I expect it to take another couple of hours before restoring the website service.

It's already at height 196200, so I think we just have to wait. Thanks for the info, anyway.

I configured a "courtesy" web server that will be active when I do maintenance. It's still rudimental, but better than nothing. I will improove it with time.

The website interface has been restored. I apologize for the long time taken by maintenance operations.

Site down again?

But I can't reach it, too.

Bitcoind was stuck and unresponsive. Service has been restored, and now I am keeping an eye on it. If it happens again, I will revert to previous version.

Since last time I received some PM of people concerned about the bitcoin mining activity: while the website is down, miners keep doing their work, there is no profit loss. It's only the web user interface that temporarily is out of service.

I am afraid I have to restore the previous version, 0.7.1 is not stable enough. I have to keep the site offline a bit more.

I wonder if other BTC websites have the same issue? Or maybe this is an issue because you use such a huge amount of addresses.

Anyway, you should probably report you experiences to the developers, or at last post it here:

I expect that the issue will be solved in a few hours. On other computers bitcoind 0.7.1 is running smoothly so I am afraid that this problem depends on the huge wallet.dat (~200MB).

Of course if this problem goes away with the previous release, I will write to the developers in order to let them know about this trouble.

If this is a bug in the system, then thank you for being an important corner case for them to test with, sorry about having to be a test subject

I already reported the problem on the 0.7.1 thread ( here ). I did the upgrade with confidence because I never experienced any problems in doing it until now. Next time I will do several tests before upgrading again. Also I am going to take a backup of the sane blockchain after it finishes to download it again, so should it happen again for any reason, I will not need to download it entirely.

Currently, backups of the blockchain have been done without stopping the bitcoind process and it seems that it leads to integrity problems. The problem doesn't apply to the wallet.dat because I export it with the dedicated command before backing it up.

Hy Pyramining,

you can report bugs directly to the developers issue list here:

Bitcoin version 0.7.1 is now available from:
  http://sourceforge.net/projects/bitcoin/files/Bitcoin/bitcoin-0.7.1/

This is a bug-fix minor release.

Please report bugs using the issue tracker at github:
  https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/issues

this way they will be directly in their todo list.

Also, I read your post in this thread, seems like you are running your own server.

This raises the question how backups are handled.

Are all Account informations and the Wallet backed up on a regular basis?

All previous versions of currency will no longer be supported as of this update
