This force to move to Slack with XC and Blocknet SUCKS! Don't blame the dev team but I no longer keep up with what's going on with these 2 projects and it REALLY sucks cause I have been a supporter since XC started. I personally cannot fricken stand Slack, I tried it for a bit after they moved their but I just can't follow, the notifications SUCK compared to the forum which just simply sends you an Email when something you are watching updates. Slack won't do this and must be open and logged in, for each project you have to be singed in to a separate tab. I have a pretty damn fast computer and having just one tab open with slack disturbs all kinds of shit with my computer, it's ridiculous!
Fucking people have to screw up everything:-(
I'm sorry you're not enjoying Slack, IMJim!
Slack was never intended to completely replace BCT as a source of updates/information, but to serve as an alternative platform for the XC/Blocknet team and supporters to interact and collaborate. As has always been made clear, all important information will be made available here and through other mediums as well.
The reason you may have not been getting Slack email updates is because there hasn't been much to update lately. Did you receive an email update this week when I used the @everyone command in the #announcements channel of the XC Slack to alert everyone about the updated wallet release?
Slack does send an email when your requirements for receiving one are met. I get several every day. Perhaps you need to tweak your settings?
I do understand, however, that Slack on Windows is not as enjoyable as it is on Android or OSX. Hopefully soon Slack will release a Windows app, because the Slack OSX app makes using Slack far less CPU-intensive and you can have all your teams open in one app and see notifications for all of them all at once.
I certainly hope it doesn't seem as if I've been forcing anyone to use Slack. In fact, Slack is really not all that necessary if you have no intention of participating in or following the daily interactions. However, if there is anything I can do to make Slack work better for you or anyone else, please let me know.
