Currency isn't the same as sound money.  Until that is changed, there will be problems with economics.  CC could be the replacement money system.  What other system would come close to ease, security, and robustness?  People can't be trusted to control the issuance of any form of fiat currency.

As long as there is a fixed or predicted pattern of issuing currency, it is good.

Bitcoin has a lot of advantages that most people don't realize yet. It is much less expensive to send Bitcoin across the world than it is traditional money. The big problem Bitcoin currently faces is that most people do not actually realize how superior the currency is to fiat. In time I figure, more people will know, and Bitcoin will really take off.

I am paying 0% for any online  and offline shopping by credit cards/debit cards. I can transfer funds  to other person via any payment processor instantly.

Yes, it takes from 1-3 days if I am sending bank wire.I am sending it for a large amount only and I am feeling in safe by using a bank instead of any Bitcoin or Altcoin.

..... the online wallets are not safe at all.

Bitcoin wallets aren't 100% safe, you can say the same about bank accounts but more than likely if your bank account gets stolen, they have some protection for you, if your Bitcoin wallet is stolen, goodbye money!

" Why would I keep the money in a system like Bitcoin when we have credit/debit cards?"
So, why would I use Bitcoin?

You might be paying 0% for shopping with your card, but the stores have to pay for that service to the banks and in the end, the customers end up paying the costs.
Bitcoin hardware wallets like Trezor are as safe as you can get.
For me, (nobanks4me),  the main reason I would like to see Bitcoin adopted is to minimize my reliance on the banks and the banksters.

A very bad point of view of the future of bitcoin. A very bad perspective. Naturally nothing is impossible. Or better, everything is possible. But I don't think that the future of bitcoin will be this end. Maybe because is perfect as an invention (as is told by various developers and specialist of this field). Maybe because is the first materialized product of peer to peer and this technology will be its protector too. Maybe because is to much loved by to many people around the world.

And maybe because (and this is my first choice) being no owned by no one (like the other i-coins which will be owned by the countries to which those belong) it will be the currency of currencies; the point of reference of all i-coins. Every i-coin will be valuated in the international market according to its change with bitcoin. This wonderful thing (if it will happen) it will be the only right place for bitcoin. The place that no one i-coin produced by whatever country can have. That this thing happen needed only one thing. Collaboration and acceptance of its priority by the most important countries firstly and from all the others after. See an idea more expanded and make comments (if you want) in this thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1191118.0

BTC has a fee too and the miners will have a fee in the end. Nothing is free in the financial world. Would you open a business and processing transactions for free? No, because you won't be able to sustain it. Smiley
The credit cards/debit cards +mobile payments are the future. BTC is just another trendy e-currency for now who has a lot of buzz in media because the media was paid for that Smiley
Nothing bad but the people will never adopt it as an universal payment system. Yes, it's good if you want to make quick money because Bitcoin value is going up and down very fast. You may say that it's a niche e-currency for those who wants to "play" and for "shadow biz"

The regulations(the exchangers are requiring more and more papers) will make the dark markets(including Ponzi schemes) to go other e-currencies (Altcoins) and this will be the end of Bitcoin.
Now, more than 80% from Bitcoin is "sustained" by the black markets.

The proportion of bitcoin usage in black markets when reduce dramatically when we use it in daily life.

surely bitcoin won't last forever, but itll certainely last another ~100years or so. bitcoin is life
I agree with this.
Bitcoin will never die. It is a mainstay. How can you kill something that is a fabrication and not substance?

if bitcoin will remain a niche market, not much will change in comparison to its dying scene

i want it to have a bigger price, bigger adoption, to be considered, as a true contender to fiat trash or maybe even replace it in a very distant future, not only a palliative...

I don't think that Bitcoin will remain a niche market. Bitcoin has too many use cases to stay just a niche product. All these use cases will definitely bring us a lot of users and much higher adoption.

Of course, some of these use cases are not yet completely developed, this will take time. As they get developed, our user base will grow as well. And this will prevent us to stay just a niche product.

Maybe BTC would do better if people stopped expecting or hoping BTC to be worth 10k in years. I'd be very happy if we reached 500$ in a few years and 1200$ in 10 years. For BTC investments, as long as BTC get a steady price raise, then you can make a very nice amount of money, so definitively, think small, think smart.

It could be happen earlier than you think. 10-15% growth a year is fine with me.

It's very hard to predict what is the future of Bitcoin but there always be a market for cryptocurrencies for sure. I don't think that cryptocurrencies will ever go away and nobody can do anything about that.

In the next 18 months, I will be happy if Bitcoin hits a stable price range. When the price is stable, adoption is easier.

It is to hard and very risky to do this. And big amounts of bitcoins or money. But even some others thing. Speculation need patience and a little luck. You need to stay in front of your computer following the price of bitcoin with the other currencies all the day. And maybe will have the chance to make some earnings. This is a little hard for someone which have other things to do and have to do a job to maintain its family.

Good point but many people from this forum are dreaming to become millionaires overnight just because they own few bitcoins. Smiley

At the beginnig of something can be risky to invest and people who take these risks can be more successful if these investment can be true in the future. Bitcoin is like that. People who took risk at he beginning of bitcoin, could be millionaire. But now we are not at the beginning. So nobody can not dream to be a millionaire with bitcoin.

The question you brought up about whether governments are considering buying up bitcoins is an interesting one.

It looks like the classic Prisoner's Dilemma problem. All governments would be better off if bitcoin died out, but the first government to initiate a bitcoin-reserve buying program would be in a much better position than other governments if bitcoin does become ubiquitous.

I think in the world of American hegemony we lived in between 1990-2000 there would be no bitcoin buying, but in an increasingly bipolar world of East vs. West that is developing today along with a few fragmented rogue states such as North Korea and Iran, someone will defect and start buying bitcoin which will trigger a cascade of strategic buying.

Disagree about the creation of i-coin though. No nation has enough power to unseat a truly global currency like bitcoin once it becomes ubiquitous, unless they conquer a super-majority of the world.

Exciting times are ahead for blockchain technology in general. It's main effect will be the expansion of the global economy by providing economic resources to the worlds unbanked, thus adding the financial weight of 3+ BILLION people into the global ecomony
