I really am wanting to go back to this pool.  Any information on if still being affected by DDOS?  Or is it safe to change to main pool again?

You can try it now!  But Please always set a backup pool

Thank you I will give it a go!  I have backup set up and will give report how it goes.

*Initial results look good.  Not losing hash to attacks, and miners all seem to be connecting good.

BitmainWarranty

but it is possible that I can not understand me with bitmain webmaster? I bought 2x antminer s5 last week by bank transfer, and it was credited to the account correctly, but still on the site bitmain is unpaid, and those that I paid with bitcoins are shipped, now I paid 2 times the shipment, and 2 times Italian customs, this is not right, and I felt stealing. Huh Huh Huh

I suggest contacting Bitmain through email vs in a forum for their pool.  I would email info@bitmaintech.com since order issue.  Make sure to include order numbers and situation.

Just by what you are saying I would think it's possible bank transfer is still depending on if you payed via ACH or true Wire Transfer.  It sounds like it's been less then a week.  BTC payment is quicker.  I have always paid BTC so I cant help much on how long it takes.  But again email the email above and I'm sure they will help.

And to get back to thread Smiley.  Pool is working great so far!  No disconnects or slowdown all day.

Why is bitmain still pretending to run a p2pool server?  Huh Huh Huh

BITMAIN announces Antpool: Pushing forward Decentralization

We support p2pool protocol

The p2pool protocol prevents hashing power being controlled by one central entity (the pool owner), and has been significantly developed during the development of Antpool. All p2pool code will be open sourced and uploaded on BITMAIN’s Github link in the near future https://github.com/bitmaintech/p2pool. (We hope open source it in one week but don't blame us if it delays a little bit.)  we hope that we can optimize the p2p protocol and network with other interested engineers around the world.

We believe p2pool protocol has great potential, however, it is not developed very well till now.

Firstly, p2pool protocol's total hash rate is low compared with the whole network's, which is around only 2% of it as of Nov 2014. So p2pool's output is still not quite stable. There is a network effect barrier we need to break, then the p2pool protocol will have stable output and more miners will join the protocol. One of the most import reason for this is that there is not a well developed p2pool agent mining pool. If there is a well developed agent as the p2p.antpool.com, the total hashrate of p2pool will be significantly increased.

Secondly, the protocol of p2pool network is already optimized a lot, but for average miners, it is not as efficient as it could be, especially for some low bandwidth miners, whom will not be affected if they are connected to a normal solo mining pool. We hope our efforts will help the community feel easier to set up p2pool mining nodes running with high efficiency.

If p2pool protocol can provide a more stable output, and the code is published, we hope that there will be more and more independent p2pool mining nodes around the world. There are lots of enterprise level miners around the world. I think it will be in the best interest for themselves to run their own p2pool mining nodes, if we can develop it into a convenient, reliable and efficient tools.

As a noob, If this means what I think it does, I would think antpool is doing quite well.

Pool Lucky (24H / 3D / 1W / 2W / 1M / 3M / All Time) : 126.00% / 111.00% / 111.00% / 103.00% / 103.00% / 104.00% / 102.00%

Someone please help me understand the concept of the "difficulty" setting.

So far, I get that I have 3 - s3's on antpool with a recommend difficulty setting of 512K.

Next week, when my S4 comes in, I set the difficulty for that 2THS/S machine at something bigger because it is more powerful.  I forget where this is set right now, but I know it is a setting.

Would a S5's be set somewhere in between an S3 and S4?

Does this mean that the S4 is more efficient because it can take on bigger chunks of work?

Is work or shares dolled out according to the level of difficulty?

Does the higher dificulty level of a faster machine like the 2TH/s S4 mean that the machine will remain profitable to operate further in the future?

So far, I've read two "beginners" level books but they do not explain this.  This is keeping me awake at 3:45 AM local time so please help put my mind to rest so I can go to bed!

Thanks,

Tom

If your mining on Antpool, then just go to sleep because the difficulty is set by the pool software with what's called a dynamic diff. You have absolutely NO CONTROL over what it TELLS your hardware is the minimum  acceptable share difficulty.

I understand but is a S4 better than 4-S3's (if S3' ran at 500MH/S)?  Is the S4 going to produce more/faster/better hashing at the end of the day because of the level of difficulty it can take on?  I am also assuming that power is the same.

No, the 2TH/s of S3s will produce the same payout as 2TH/s of 1 S4.

If your S3's are running at 500 MH/s you have other problems, I assume you mean 500 GH/s.

And share difficulty doesn't matter. It has absolutely no effect on your miners and no matter what they are set at, it should even out in the long run to what it should be running at. But basically, when you submit work, it could be at 1 difficulty, 2 difficulty,3 difficulty... and so on.  When you submit 2 difficulty work, you get twice as much credit as when you submit 1 difficulty work.  When the minimum difficulty is set by the pool, it discards anything under that to reduce load on pool servers.

Basically they all run as efficiently, but your faster gear has a greater chance of finding higher difficulty solutions before slower hardware, which is why it is recommended to use a higher minimum difficulty.

2TH/s is 2TH/s no matter how it is achieved.  Doesn't matter if you've got 1 S4 or a room full of block eruptors.  The "level of difficulty" is only a falsified setting introduced by pools to help reduce the amount of traffic they need to accept and process.
