The network tries to produce one block per 10 minutes. It does this by automatically adjusting how difficult it is to produce blocks.

you'd think the bot would calculate and move the ask when the price moves...

Moving orders around frequently also bogs down Gox' inferior order system, creating lag in legitimate orders and execution. Those orders never make it to, say, btccharts for instance. So other bots have to get_info() more often in order to see where that order is located further creating lag.

I think Gox's API is stalled or something. I show as connected on clarkmoody, and just performed a small trade via the site which did not show up on moody or in my bot.. not sure what's up but I think anyone using automated trading is stuck at the moment.
