Or if you want to save a ton of money over the EVGA's you can use 2880w server Psu's w/ boards, that are more efficient and less than half the price...
Just throwing it out there. For my SP20's I shoot for around 1400-1450 Gh with .67 starting Volts and ~225w per loop. Able to run 3x SP20's per PSU.
Unfortunately already have/purchased the EVGA's. I suppose I could resell them. Just now learning about server grade psu. Do you have a specific brand in mind?

I've had success with the DPS 800 GBA's as well as the IBM 2880w PSU's that I am also conveniently selling Boards for Honestly, I've hardly heard of any problems with any server PSU's, you just can't kill them. And, even in worst case scenario the actual PSU's are cheap to replace if you re-use the breakout board. Holybitcoin.com sells boards and packages for the smaller PSU's produced by J4bberwock, and I'm selling the IBM 2880W Bladecenter H boards. The only issues with using the 2880W PSU's is they require 240V and the fans are quite loud (Slightly louder than an SP20 at full tilt). I am currently working on some alternative fan solutions to make them more home-miner friendly. Other than those points, there is no better solution on the market for PSU. Alternatives are gigampz for the DPS 800GBA (1000w) Sidehack on this forum also produces boards for various PSU's

server psu's are safe they do niot break or burn up. they can be very loud. some are power hungry.
if you get a delay on an evga 1300 g2 it can be 150 usd. 10 year warranty.
for me since I still build custom pc's for people I get the evga's. if you give up mining they can repurpose easy

The DPS 2000's are nice, but still use 240V, require setting up your own fans and are not quite as efficient as the Bladecenter 2880W's (80+ Gold vs Platinum). Phillip, for $150 you can get the IBM 2880W setup with cables and have twice the power. As far as warranty, when you can replace the PSU itself for ~$50-$60, it's simply a non-issue. And as for being power hungry, the EVGA 1300W G2 is more power hungry than the Bladecenter 2880W, and is even with the DPS-2000BB. Honestly, the only issue is noise, and I'm hoping my fan solution works out to solve that. Re-purposing, that is another matter. You'd need a heck of a PC to require 2880W of power!

I also never bothered to do 240 volt wiring. not knocking server psu's for many your psu is very good .

It's not mine, it's J4bberwock's board (and he did an incredible job on it). I'm just re-selling his gear for North America. I just happen to be passionate about it. Ever since burning through a few cheaper ATX power supplies when I first started and made the switch to server power supplies, I have never looked back. And I'm not saying it's the ideal solution for everybody, I'm just saying everybody else should just buy earplugs and learn wiring I kid... It's just that the margins nowadays with mining equipment are so slim with manufacturers profiting more from self-mining then selling at ROI-able prices, that we need to save every dollar we can to get our equipment running, without settling for in-efficient PSU's. Anyways I'm done my sales pitch, sorry for getting so off-topic with your thread. I'm not trying to convince you to make the switch, I know you are happy with what you have (and as far as I'm concerned, the EVGA PSU's are among the best you can buy as far as ITX supplies go) I'm just adding alternatives to what has worked for you to people who are starting out.

You are correct it is a good choice if you do not have a psu on hand. running 3 sp20's or 3 s-5's or 4 avalon 4.1's is possible. with the 2880 watt psu.

@philipma1957, or anyone with experience.
At this rate, since I'm using 600W'ish, can I run two SP20's off one (120v) EVGA 1300 G2? Safely? I recall you trying that somewhere in the thread, but don't remember the results, if any?
If so, how do I hook it up if I only have two more VGA red slots off the back?
I run two SP20s off of a single EVGA 1300 G2. Actually I run 6 of mine that way, I run two volt settings via the crontab because of heat/noise and electric cost issues during the day. They've been running like this for two months now without a single issue. Here are my volt settings: miner-FL1451099043# cat mg_custom_mode_day FAN:0 VS0:605 VS1:615 VS2:605 VS3:615 VMAX:620 AC0:120 AC1:140 AC2:120 AC3:140 DC_AMP:170 miner-FL1451099043# cat mg_custom_mode_night FAN:0 VS0:640 VS1:660 VS2:640 VS3:660 VMAX:665 AC0:160 AC1:180 AC2:160 AC3:180 DC_AMP:170 During the day 900GH/sec I'm using around 430W at the wall At night I get 1.2TH/sec and I'm using around 610 at the wall There are 6 outputs on the back of the PSU, I use one of their "double cables" and plug those into loops 1 and 3 (AC0 and AC2 internally) so I'm sending a little less power down that wire just to make sure I don't have overdraw issues down a single line.

It's in my signature, and here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=966135.0If you want to save some money and have the time, PSU's do pop up on e-Bay for cheaper than what I'm selling them for, and shipping will be cheaper if you're in the US (mine ship from Canada). Remember that these PSU's are loud (slightly louder than an SP20 w/ fans on 100), and require 240V.

posted it already in the Spondoolies-Tech Thread, but here again: Can anybody tell what just happened? I just checked my miners and saw a lower Hashrate on one of them. One of the ASIC Loops seemed down. Checked the cables and saw this: As you can see one of the Pins seemed to have burned?! The ASIC hasnt been running for a week. It was even underclocked. (to about 620watts). EDIT:: A switch of the cables seems to have fixed it. It was a 2x8 Pin cable, powering 2x 6 Pins on the SP20. Might it be that the cable itself has been overloaded? How do you connect your EVGA Supernovas to 2x Sp20s? It has only 6 VGA Connectors.

EVGA has 6 cords, but 8 connectors (two cords are branched). Phil has a scheme, but, actually, powering one machine with four connectors (originated from two branched cords) and another machine with four cords works fine, albeit I only tried it on S5, NOT SP20. I don't see why it wouldn't work on SP20, providing you are doing an extreme downclock to ~600w/machine. I am powering SP20 downclocked to ~670w using CX750W , which has two branched cords, and it is fine so far ( although I do have some airflow toward the connectors from the external Vornado fan).

One of the biggest things is quality. The SP20's are rock solid with the metal case and I love them. I was running full blast since i got them. Now I have underclocked them. It is impressive to have such a wide range of power.
Also with them I never have had to babysit. It is pretty much set and forget until I want to change pools.
Are you same notlist3d that stole money from me at BTCjam.com https://btcjam.com/users/43568https://btcjam.com/listings/23012-upgrade-mining-capacityFunny that you brag about having miners running and you refuse to repay the money that bought them for you.

SO many crooks in crypto , its amazing we can even get anything done these days. Personally im on the self sufficent route now -no cloud mining -no group buys (most likely) -no hosted hardware (if i can't run it forget it) only thing i will do is order miners from bitmain and other trusted companies that have been in business for a few years or so. Crypto is full of crooks its like it attracts the worst types of individuals.

Hey guys, This is my first post! Been lurking the forum and I appreciate all the information. Was hoping someone might be able to answer a couple questions. I recently acquired a used SP20E(?) Not sure what the E stands for or if it makes a difference in terms of configuration/settings. I don't pay for electricity so I'm trying to (safely) get as much hash power as possible. The ASICS on the last loop (loop 3) get hotter than the others (they are almost always running at 120C). Does it make sense to lower the 'Max PSU Power' for this loop? How would you configure your SP20 if you didn't pay for power? Here are my current settings: https://i.imgur.com/uq7VrDs.pnghttps://i.imgur.com/0skSt9W.pngThanks in advance!

Bump the fan up to 100, and lower the wattage on PSU's 2 and 4 to under what they are running at now in your ASIC stats page (above the clip you have posted is what they are actually drawing per loop) Also make sure you are on current firmware.
What PSU and cables are you using?
