Has anyone tried to overclock this miners Huh

yes and this miner  does this

600 watts 1180 gh fan at 40

750 watts 1350 gh  fan at 50

1200 to 1250 watts 1650-1710 gh  fan at 90-100

there is not much reason to try the over clock

but if you have ery cheap power

and  if you have a cold room

do not mind a loud fan

use good and I mean really good pcie wires

and a psu or 2 psu's that will do proper watts    say an evga 1600g2 or evga 1600p2     or 2 corsair 750 watts psu's.

You can get 1650 to 1750max..   no on has shown better then those numbers.

For a long time period.  those numbers use crazy power..

It looks like this miner was really a 1.5 Th/s miner and it's been "pre overclocked" like some GPU's for the user. Like I said I may slightly underclock it to around 1.5 Th/s not because I care about power usage, just for the longevity of the componants and fan noise. I'm assuming if I get it around the 1.5Th/s mark I can use only 70-80% fan correct?

It would seem the power jump and fan noise is not really worth a measly 300 Gh/s if you ask me.

Ie.

1350 Gh/s only 750 W

and extra 300 Gh/s:

1650 Gh/s ----- 1200W!<---wow totally ineffecient. Theoretically it should be around the 1000Watt level max but I guess you have to crank the voltage and watts per channel alot just to get to that level.

I hoping to find a middle ground and get around 1.5 and maybe hit the 1000W mark.

I got some dps2000bb from delta... wires are fine and i can disassemble the miner and cool each board separately with 1 or more fans. Got ~5celsius atm and i can go lower Grin

Anyone want to see a 360 of the SP20? I've got these in 4k, but I don't think anyone's internet would appreciate 170mb. Hard as hell to balance lighting on a silver, shiny case - and ignore the floor shadows that didn't come out right, I'll remove them at some point.

I checked my miner this morning after running for 24 hours and it was running at 1163 gh/s at 607.  This works for me since I can squeeze more th/s out of my space.

I checked my miner this morning after running for 24 hours and it was running at 1163 gh/s at 607.  This works for me since I can squeeze more th/s out of my space.

nice I have five of them and can't quite get that low.

I sold all my s-3's and will run 6 or 7 sp20's vs 12 s-3's.  I do have room for 7 and i can power 7.  But I think stopping as 6 is more practical.

I have 5 really good psu's

3 evga       1300 g2  I can run 1.5 sp20's a psu  x 3 = 4.5 sp20
1 evga       1600 p2 I can run  1.5  sp20                 = 1.5 sp20
1 seasonic  1200 plat  I can run 1.5 sp20               = 1.5 sp20

comes to 7.5 maybe 8 sp20's max  if I clock them at 750 watts and 1350 gh

so 6k watts and  10800 gh looks close to max for me

is I do 6 I would be 4.5 kwatts and  8100 gh  about .55 w per gh

I have recently updated my SP20s to latest firmware, and one of them is having problems hashing since I updated to latest version :
It mines at about 1600 GH/S and then stops to 0 and then starts again with 1.600 GH/S.
Before the firmware update it was hashing stable at around 1600 GH/S

anyone could know what could cause this sudden losses in hashing power ??

Has anyone tried to over-clock this miners Huh

Yes, me.

I think these device are totally made with no "space" for OC.
Heat sinks are just enough to not burn the asic chip and they are as small as possible. They live just because of good thermal politics of asic chip.

There is one way to OC, 100% fan, extremely cold ambient air and enough power.

My result in ambient temperature  around 10/15 deg celsium is fluctoating around 1.65 and 1.7 TH. actual power is around 950/1000 watt nett power.
Dont forget that if you OC device then the efficiency is very low and you probably will lose profit due to higher electricity bill.

yeah oc is only feasible if your power is really cheap and you have lots of it.

750 watts does an easy 1350 gh
1200 watts does a hard 1650-1700 gh

you are getting the better watts because of great ambient temps.   but I would guess you will burn the gear up or the psu's without very careful monitoring.

I wonder if someone tried mix and match PSU, like CX750 and CX500 to power one SP20 at the lower total wattage, like 800W?
Unfortunately, i don't have CX850, only 750 and 500 plus evga 1300. If i can mix and match, i might order more, otherwise I will have to run one Sp20 on two CX750, which would be suboptimal, of course.

my problem is I don't have many small psu's.

I think I have a seasonic 650 gold and a seasonic 450 gold fanless.

Maybe I try testing that on sunday.  I will need to use a fan on the fanless  but I have sooo many fans I can do that.

I used a 1000 watt (3 cables) + a 850 watt (1 cable) until I learned how to underclock it.  Now it's running just on the 1000 watt.

Phil - Thanks for this thread! My SP20 arrives on Monday and I am trying to decide how I should power it. My goal is the most GH I can squeeze out of a single PSU (I am almost out of space is my issue). My options for the single PSU are: Corsair 1200AXi, LEPA 1600, and Silverstone 1500. These are all PSU I have left over from my GPU farming days. I am assuming since the Silverstone only has 25 AMP rails it is out. The LEPA has 4 x 30 AMP rails, and the Corsair is a single rail. I am leaning towards the Corsair, but will it provide more than the LEPA? If anyone has some thoughts on this let me know!

Edit: I do not care about power consumption - just GH!

use the corsair.  run thesp in the 1400gh range (yeah I know not 1700)  and add a s-3 to the corsair run that at freq 237-243

you get 1400gh + 475 gh = 1875gh

I have the 5 of them  and to run it to the max is like taking my little Kia Forte and driving down to Atlanic City to play some craps.

It is a 60 mile ride Almost all highway.  Now my Kia Can go 120mph on the speedometer.

When I go down to AC I just drive at 75mph it is an easy drive. I don't try to run the car at 120 or even 110 mph. Even if I have free gas.

These machines run really well at the 1350-1410gh mark. The amount of extra power to go higher could be spent on an s-3 on the same psu.

It is easy to get just about 1800gh  with 1 sp20 and 1 s-3 on your corsair.
It will be hard to get 1700 alone with the sp20 and your corsair.

I figure you can do 100 to 200gh more blending the 2 on the corsair rather then maxing the 1 sp20

( both setups will use same power in watts around 1200-1300)

Isn't the Corsair multi-rail but you can select some virtual “single rail” or “multi-rail” software modes?

I remember people had trouble with them on KnC gear.

I'd stick with the LEPA

I run evga's and seasonics.  years ago I had  a fire (not mining) with a corsair was very lucky to have no one hurt.

So I feel a bit superstitious about using a corsair.

The lepa has a lot of rails and can be a bit confusing to use.  But if you hook it up correctly it is a good psu.

I told him the corsair because I thought it was single rail.

How does SP20 shipping works?
I got "your item was shipped" note, but no shipment number to follow up.
Does the number comes in a later email?
For SP30 I got the airbill at the same time with shipment notification.
