We just finished discussing the situation in slack, i'm sure you've noticed the most active members post lest here these days. A temporary fix is already on the master branch on github and i am now trying to build a windows version rc with support for assets.

i did ask polo cryptopia cryptsy all on the coin to be added.
maybe the other active users did as well, when was asked to do so.

why another slack channel with password needed to chat on the coin's progress, this channel is pwd protected, private.
now i have not yet got access to that channel, i did read has not got to be my real email address.

my email here is not secret,

and now two wallets giving stuck blocks again,  am waiting on that wallet, could you provide a newer bootstrap, since the latest one at post 4147 i guess,

i always even in new empty wallets have got to do reconsiderblock or so a few times, this not good right, thanks again dear bit..

Can anyone explain a little about the new asset system being developed, what type of thing/s can be assets and just generally how the system will work?

Here's an attempt to give a very simple explanation.
The asset system is based on "colored coins". That means
that an amount of coin is assigned with a "color marker" that distinguishes
it from "unmarked/colored" coins. It appears as a special coin amount
to a color-enabled wallet.

Now you can link that color marker to a resource, say a contract on web that
says that "I will redeem these colored coins for X amount of Bitcredits after date Y".
The marked coins are thus linked to a future promise of some kind, and so they
become a true asset that can be transferred and traded. See https://www.coinprism.com/
for examples that use the same asset protocol.

This is the most primitive use of colored coins, actually there is no end to their
uses. It is the gateway to 2.0 cryptocoins. All kinds of smart contracts are in theory possible.
Unfortunately there are only few guides and tutorials available and many of them short, dense and
technical. Perhaps this community will popularize their use and bring it to the
masses?

Exactly, once we familiarize with the code we can expand it's uses. As for popularizing it , i intend to push hard to get partners and as many businesses as we can to try it out and issue assets on the chain.

We will also issue example assets and bonds with varying options so users have templates to start building their own from.

hi again bit..

where to find a list of nodes or should the wallet find its own peers, no download of blocks or connections, in two of the wallets.

it typically finds it's own peers

feel free to create a config file that has "listen=1"
also theres always a list of nodes on https://chainz.cryptoid.info/bcr/#!network click nodelist on the highest version

fyi chainz is behind currently. current block height can be seen here on this explorer http://bitcreditsp2pool.website:3001/

$MAID & $BTC other than that some short hodls and some long held garbage.

no it wont work out of the box.
colorcore runs in python3.4 program which is trivial to install see: https://www.python.org/downloads/ download a version of 3.4.x that fits your operating system/ platform type
run the installer and choose the default directory, and when it lets you pick packages, tell it to set env path. (this is unchecked)
youll need to install ssl also which is a bitch. Bitcredits recommended getting it from here: https://indy.fulgan.com/SSL/ so use that at your own risk. if you use this just unzip it into you c: drive. and add it to the environment path.

youll need to configure the colorocore server to talk to the bitcredits wallet. in the assets folder open config.ini and at the very end change http://88888:999999@localhost:8880 to match your bitcredit config
rpc user
rpc password
rpc port
so it looks like this:
Code:
http://rpcuser:rpcpassword@localhost:rpcport

then in windows for example:
open a command prompt as administrator
change the directory to the bitcredits assets folder found in the most recent download linked above by bitcreditscc
type:
Code:
pip install --upgrade -r requirements.txt

then type
Code:
python colorcore.py server

then in the wallet you can see the assets already created

This should really get rid of reconsider block, finally.

Also in the rare event that you need use it, you no longer have to restart the client.
