You know it would be a lot less scammy if your ICO release was based on actually having any of your torrent integration actually in the client AND working. Otherwise this is just another pipe dream scam and we already have enough of them.

Hey! At launch the torrent integration will be in wallet and working, the possibility to add torrents will only come when the website is live though (and we will add some as an experiment in the beginning of January).

That's not really the same thing. I could throw some jibber jabber into a github and make promises

This post sums up why all this bullshit is a scam

I can confirm that there is torrent code in the wallet, though I cannot test it since the blockchain is not moving yet.

Granted and you are a respected and trustworthy member of this scene but my point is that if the dev is going to ask for BTC upfront, he should have an actual functioning feature/tech/whatever or its no different then any the other bs scammy ICO's on these forums.

[edit] and to add to that, I'm not trying to hate on the dev(s). If I wasn't interested in what you were up to I wouldn't bother critiquing what you are doing.

I understand you, maybe a video of the wallet "in action" on testnet or a "old blockchain" would be nice... True

Hey,

The references in the code to torrents are a wallet tab that is going to feature the torrent magnet links. There won't be any torrents on it for the first 1-2 weeks as we stated before, since the torrent adding system will feature on the search engine website (and that is not ready yet).
This tab is just a gimmick though, user will feel much more comfortable browsing for torrents in the actual website.

I think the difference here is that it is stored in the blockchain rather than on some servers

There is no difference. You share torrents/magnet links via p2p, just as you share a blockchain via p2p. Weather its a file containing  blockchain data, or a file that is contains a magnet url makes no difference.

There is a big difference. We were gonna release this in a few hours but we figure it might clear some of the confusion.

In my understanding:

The Magnet Link is a clickable Text-Link, for example something like: magnet://ajhdauhaofhfhsdjfhskdjfhwohr0w9iefohjdnowiefoiewf

If the site where the link is stored is down, you cannot click it ...

The Blockchain is a copy on every users PC using the wallet... So its quite hard to get it down.. The Wallet retrieves the magnet links from the blockchain..

Ok side question, can you search for torrents in client?

Also, better argument than prospect and DHT: http://www.tribler.org/about.html

Yes, you will be able to search for torrents in wallet.
It will be easier to do it in the website but we are also pushing the in-wallet search in case the website is down.

The website will also be open source so everyone ca make their own versions and keep it always online in different domain.

You have no idea what you are talking about. Click a magnet link? You dont have to click anything. It contains data that a torrent client can parse. The data can be downloaded via DHT by any torrent client today, fully p2p, fully decentralized. Searchable.

Hmm, i must admit i never used torrents for more than downloading a Linux distro or some big files which had no decent public mirror but interesting that every client should be able to search in an Index of every torrent available. I will have a Look for Sure..

What about "private" torrents? Sometimes you maybe dont want to share them with every other client...

So 7.5 Million coins at 7k Satoshi = 525 BTC or over 165k At todays rate. You think the work you did was worth 165k ? Jesus

How does that change when it is on the blockchain? Private trackers restrict DHT and local peers because they want to keep the content exclusive. No other reason.
