DO NOT BUY from Antminer.

I ordered two miners and got them.  Then the problems. First I had to pay a very high custom tax.
Then, one of the two broke after 3-4 months. Antminer will not fix or substitute it because the warranty was just JUST 3 months, which is UNLAWFUL in most countries, but in Italy for sure where they sold the miner.
I think I am going to sue them.
In any case, unless you have free electricity, you're going to lose money with their miners.

Best regards,
ilpirata79

Isn't EU custom for computers 0%? Are you talking about VAT?

Edit:EU does not have custom for computers, see

http://ec.europa.eu/taxation_customs/dds2/taric/measures.jsp?Lang=en&Area=&Taric=8471410090

You are most likely talking about VAT. It is totally up to Italy to decide what kind of VAT it has for computers. Bitmain nor any other company can't decide what VAT (propably 22%) Italy has.

EU / definitely in the UK you are right. VAT is the issue not Customs Duty. Here is 20% which is charged on the declared value + the Shipping cost, plus a handling fee.

I have a s5 that decided it would not power the fans anymore. It tries to hash then overheats. I can login to the gui and see everything and it says fan speed 0. Tested fans there good. Tested psu it's good. Factory defaulted the unit and applied latest firmware and still no good. All boards show up just no fan power. Also reconnected all cable to make sure they have good connection.

Any ideas?

Did you try both fan connector? And if they're both dead, thats pretty weird, but your only option then is pretty simple, you're going to need to power the Fans strait off the power supply. You would ideally get a controller so you can control the fan speed. Otherwise they're going to be running full speed at all time. But if thats fine with you...

Oh, i see what you mean. It may have a protection where it will just beep if there is no RPM detected on Fan1. I do not know if there is a hardware or software workaround to override this protection, if it is active on your miner.

But you said it would try to mine and overheat, therefore it is not?

Well It starts to beep before I can access the gui. And if I look at the hash it shows 30-40gh and then drops off. Now if it is hashing then realizes there's no fan. Guess I need to test. I don't see the chips getting super hot after boot as the heatsink D will barley be warm

It would take a bit of time to heat up, it would not get to 80c instantly, and typically you can access GUI before the hashing start. You might need to see if someone know a hardware fix to this. If not you may need a new controller or a image that has this safety disabled.

Seem to mostly depend on the PSU quality, on EVGA G2's i mostly get 393, one take 400 before a loss, for 1.29 and 1.32TH.

Np. If you get server PSU with adjustable volt, i suspect you might be able to get significant overclock upgrade, at efficiency loss.

A chain just popped after a soft reset at 28 ASIC and missing a bit of hashrate. Any idea of what to try and such? Beside the obvious replugging and power cycling?

A chain just popped after a soft reset at 28 ASIC and missing a bit of hashrate. Any idea of what to try and such? Beside the obvious replugging and power cycling?

I bought a broken S5 last year (end of it) and i got a blade with 4X. Nothing much can do done really ... power cycle may helps if you're lucky but mine always got the 4X now ;-)

This board is broken ... i cannot hash at more 281 for the freq and it also mien for like 1 hour before it stops.

I wish we had the schematics to fix them ...

I dont have any X, though. The o's are just missing. Its the two last oo's in the chain, if that matters.

OK you have the dash. ----

Power cycle should fix it, most of the time. Especially if the unit was running all good.

I dont have any -. The o's are just missing. Its the same i get if i change voltage on a S4 without a power cycle.

It probably means that there is a failure of some sort in the last pair of ASIC's in the chain. If it were earlier in the chain then usually either nothing works or all the chips after the failure do not work. The next step would be to check a few voltages, but if it is a failed ASIC it's a tricky repair and you also need another failed board to remove a chip from.
