It could be the control but probably the hash PCB gone bad.  what country are you located in?

S5 parts can be purchased from https://www.bitmainwarranty.com

if it was ebay purchase, may be easier to send it back and ask paypal for refund

it looks like one of my S5 has a problem...
Chain#.......ASIC#......Frequency...Temp...ASIC status
1................30...............350..........0......------ -------- -------- --------
2................30...............350.........40.....oooooo oooooooo oooooooo oooooooo

I restarted it after a few month of rest...

I swapped PSU for a known good one.... not to avail....

SAme problem @freq 275...

I have just bought an S5 off of ebay, it hashes on both cards for about 5 minutes then they both drop off to 0, I have swapped the ribbon cabels to the cards, and swapped the cards around - I have two 1300 Watt EVGA power supplies and have tried both with the same end results - I can only think the controller / beagle board is knackered, probably in the postage - the boards show zero errors when they power on in the control panel. Could I be correct in my theory? And, if so, does anyone here have a spare controller / beagle?

I am in the UK - on that site I could not see and controller board links?

Can you email support@bitmainwarranty.com with your contact info?  one of the staffs from Schengen area will contact  you with the shipping method/option in your area.

Daily profit of an S5 is pretty much dependent on the electricity being free. Sounds like you need to do some reading about what exactly goes into bitcoin mining before spending any money.

Cool, quiet and up to 1TH pod miner, on sale now!

The electricity isn't free here so probably i have to pay can you give me a specific value so i can check if i can afford it .

I already have a asic miner block erupter , so probably that's the only mining equipment i had , i have not bought big mining equipment and i am just starting out on a small miner and then will move on to the big one.

If you can tell the exact current cost's for it , i can make some calculation''s before i start using it.

Power consumption for 2 months would be 0.590 KW/hr x 24 hrs/day x 60 days = 849.6 Wh

Profit is much more complicated, what is your power cost, where are you going to be mining, what will the difficulty changes be, etc.

Not taking those into account:
The S5 would make roughly 0.001141 BTC/day x 60 days = 0.06846 BTC  at the current BTC/USD price that would be $48.63 USD
But difficulty will most likely increase so earnings would be much lower.

Subtract what the 849.6 KWh would cost you and you have your profit.

At $0.10 USD / KWh you are looking at 849.6 KWh x $0.10 /KWh = $84.96  so a loss of $36.33

At $0.04 USD / KWh you are looking at 849.6 KWh x $0.04 /KWh = $33.98  so a profit of $14.65

And again those are assuming everything stays static for the 2 months, IT WON'T!

So unless you have really cheap or free power, it is not going to be worth it.

Buy an Avalon 6. can't go wrong with that. (Make sure you got a Pie and the cable to connect to it)

It should be in the same price range as an S7. (1100 watt)

the s5 is great if you have no idea what you are doing and want to get started with the basics without spending a lot of money.. they use about 600 watts.. can be ran off a 750 watt power supply.. and can probably be found for less than 50$..

the problem is, you wont make any money with them if you pay anything at all for power..

the good news is, they do make ok heaters.. i have 2 of them in my shed i keep running at 150m (which is clocked under half) to keep the moisture out. i used to have a 500 watt heater in there.. so its win/win.

i have them mining on an altcoin pool..

you should do some research.. if you think you are going to plug in a miner and start earning a paycheck you are sorely mistaken.

ok got it Aoran's thank's anyway i know what mining is it's not about getting huge money, i am just gonna start a website and learn everything first then i will go for the big one's first .

It's not always about the money , need to experiment on a few miner's and learn and get it done first.

The money will come if you choose the right path and learn and do mining effieciently with small miner's first and then go for the large one's.

Anyone mining bitcoin directly with an s5 is a noob Wink Obvious targets are the pools that mine alts and have a higher value than BTC mining. The s5 is not dead yet!

I have found a better mining solution man , will probably buy and Antminer s5 / Antminer S9 later , for now i don't wanna setup all those equipment's and stuff , maybe later in 6 month's, when i am able to cover the current costs , with my investments.

Here's a link check the last post , it's ideal for startup websites and startup miner's.

With BTC over $1400 USD, is this miner profitable once again? I pay about 12 cents CDN for electricity and the exchange rate from CDN to USD is 37%.

No. These are so old and outdated you need free power to make a profit.

Stop buying industrial miners, running them at home, and then complaining about the noise.

I'm sure there's an underclock setting that's still profitable, replace the jet turbine with two two-wire case fans for a silent miner.

So bit of a weird story.

I got an Antminer S5, factory reset it, connected it to a gold 605W PSU and pool and was mining at 350 hz, 1150 GHz and everything was working for around 12 hours at 60 degrees. Before I shut it down I changed the hz to 150 to see if it quieted the fan and shut it down.

I bought a new fan, removed the stock fan and tried to connect the 120mm new fan. The 4 pic connector was slightly different on the back and it wouldn’t fit the plug. I put the stock fan back on and powered up the machine.

Since then the only lights on the miner are 3 green and 1 red on the control board. There are no lights on the blades and I can’t connect to the IP anymore. The 2 lights in the Ethernet cable are on but not the green or red lights on the right of the Ethernet.

I have tried everything to connect, it won’t factory reset and nothing I do changes the power up sequence. The fan turns on and there are just the 1 red light and 3 green lights in a row on the control board. The Ethernet cable is connected and it works on other computers. I can see everything connected to my router but the antminer has disappeared. It seems like it is not powering up at all.

Please help.

Hi peeps... i have some question regarding the hashing boards. I've found the following, comparing with dogie's photoshoot:

https://i.imgur.com/MUOYlYi.jpg

In this image, i've seen that the new hashing boards come with additional pins, with a 3-bit address and a plug pin. Is this a sign of a coming device with 8 hashing boards? Can i connect 8 hashing boards to the same controller with different address bases?

...

Hi!
I saw your old messages about different data connectors of Antminers S5 hashig boards of old and new batches.

Can you help me with connecting old hashing board to control board with data cables (16 & 18 Pin connectors)? Is it easy as I think? For example to connect '3v3' connector on hash board to equal connector on CtrlBoard?

Thank you!
