Hi Tribesman,

I've hit a little problem.

Since my PC blue-screened (I discovered it was caused by Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, now binned) I can't start my Kobo wallet. I just get this...

What should I do to fix this?

(My other 2 staking wallets re-started with no problems)

Try this:

1. Backup your wallet.dat to a safe location. Do not proceed until you have done this and also read the steps below.
2. Delete your current installation and delete the contents of the appdata\Roaming\Kobocoin directory
3. Download and install new wallet (See OP)
4. Download a blockchain snapshot from the link here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=920290.msg14191606#msg14191606
5. Unpack the contents of the snapshot and copy into your appdata\Roaming\Kobocoin directory
6. Start the wallet and make sure it starts syncing. Once you're sure it's syncing, stop it.
7. Goto appdata\Roaming\Kobocoin directory and delete the existing wallet.dat. Then copy your backed up wallet.dat into the appdata\Roaming\Kobocoin directory.
8. Restart your wallet.

Any issues, let me know.

I don't think there's an easy fix for this. It will have to be a reinstall.

Sorry for the lack of development updates. My day job has taken precedence. An installation has gone a bit awry and fixing it is taking up my time at the moment.

Once that's resolved (should be later today) the next thing is to get the js libraries for Bitsoko resolved once and for all and get some addresses sorted out then we're good to go. That's the top priority now. It's been a week of troubleshooting but I need to get my head down and get Bitsoko issues resolved.

After that it's finishing off the UberPay integration. The Electrum server is built and UberPay has been testing it out. It's just finding the time to pull it all together.

I've got in touch with a developer to get the js lib sorted. He might be able to speed up the process. Doing everything on my own (while trying to sort out the issues in my day job at the same time) has cause a massive delay. I'm hoping he can turn it around in a few days so we can get the Bitsoko integration finalized and get onto the next steps.

Bittrex have sent an email out saying they are going to de-list Kobo.

It might be worth sending them a quick email outlining recent developments and future plans to get them to hold-off from this.

I've already sent one, but more is better.

de-list? I thought Kobo has been delisted already 6 mos ago...   Thank you for you hard work Tribesman!... I hope the coin will not lose momentum this time..  I can sense a strong buying support that is just waiting for the bitsoko development... we are at now the level of 0.00001 BTC, and selldowns are rare..

read carefully, it's not about delisting, which happened long ago, it's about final wallet removal

Lol.

I had just woken-up and that was the first email I saw.... I even knew Kobo had been de-listed already!

Too tired, I'm going back to bed....

Yes, I posted this earlier on. The tipping was going very well. I'm looking for a replacement. Might have to build one myself but the problem is the online wallet. You have to be very vigilant. There are people out there who just want to hack it for the coins.

NEWS: COINWALLETCO IS CLOSING

Pleas withdraw any KOBO you have on CoinWalletCo before 1st May

Official Announcement
https://www.coinwallet.co/closing

There was a data breach. Your coins are safe but CoinWalletCo has decided to close. A real shame.

We will soon be a part of the moBUinet network

UPDATE:

I've been fighting code on 3 angles. Unfortunately there's no help or support with any of these products so I just have to fight my way through them and get help where I can from other helpful devs (when they have the time):

1. Javascript Libraries for Boitsoko
This is still being worked on. I'm currently able to produce a private key with the javascript libs but still cannot produce an offline address as is required. I've spoken to another dev who's taking a look at it but no positive result yet, If you know anyone who is proficient with bitcore-lib and alts please send me a PM. I'll accept any and all help here

2. Electrum Server for UberPay
The server is up and running OK. UberPay are having an issue with X15 hashing. I've sent through details of how it may be possible to get over that but still no positive outcome yet.

3. New Kobocoinj for upgrading the Android wallet
I will be upgrading the Android wallet. I want to add the following features:
  • Pin to Send
  • Sweep Paper Wallet
  • Splash screen on Entry
  • Regional/Relevant Links Page
The new Kobocoinj does build correctly but is having issues connecting with the blockchain. This may also be something to do with the X15 protocol being used. Once this is resolved I can get started on getting Android Wallet V3 out.

I was hoping to have some good news on at least one of the issues to update you with this weekend but that's not the case. I'll keep on at them. I'm especially looking forward to getting past the Kobocoinj issue and getting the new Android wallet out with the added features. It will have a links list that any crypto enthusiast will appreciate. I won't be embedding features yet but it will definitely be a good step forward with the mobile tech.

I think the best way to slip in digital currencies at this point in crypto is the use of a Trojan horse. ( not virus...) But a grand idea that fosters real world use.

Mpesa had real world use its side effect was that it began to be used as currency.

I have a great idea but no coding skills.
