Isn't that what they really want, i.e. to be left alone ("Grexit")? Greeks seem to be blaming the European Union for their misfortunes and severe economic downturn as of late. Besides that, many in Europe loathe at the idea that Europe’s economic crisis coincides with Germany’s rise as the dominant power on the continent, and Greece is no exception.
A friend in need is a friend indeed.
They don't necessarily want to leave, but they can't stay within the European Union accepting their premises since it's literally killing people. The problem is, if they leave, they are equally fucked or most likely even worse. They've been vegetating quietly and happily for more than two thousand years on end, after Ancient Greece had come under the Roman rule in 146 BC. So what's the difference really if they drag on for another thousand years?

Euro just dropped further! 12 year low it's going to drop even further. nothing shows any sign of recovery any time soon. i only hope it will not go below the us dollar. for me as european it's horrible. Some say it may reach dollar parity in the next decade and potentially lower like 85cents. If you are Greek you better have a lot of Bitcoin already. Or Russian rubles since Greece is now trying to make friends with Russia as its savior and companion in their disdain for the European Union and dislike of the U.S. world hegemony. I think Greece may end up getting betrayed by Russia if they don't fully adopt dracma again, they may end up alone. Isn't that what they really want, i.e. to be left alone ("Grexit")? US will be raising interest rates this next year because its economy is doing so well, they don't have any new stimulus planned and no new money being printed gives people the impression that our currency is stable. Because of this, people will think the US dollar is more stable than the Euro which is why the dollar is gaining value over the Euro.

Indeed, but it's all an illusion, they are pumping more magic dollars to create a fake sense of trust so people keep supporting it.

Is it possible that EUR might drop below USD in 2015? Syriza & ECB QE program pushing price even lower against USD or do you think euro is at it's bottom right now and is going to rise soon? Discussion.
I wish I would have believed this one month ago... Now it's getting late...

EUR's QE is just beginning and the follow of interest rates of US may be raised. All of this could make EUR might drop to equal USD, or even below USD. I can't believe EUR lost 20% in the past year.

There is higher justice in that Europeans are now paying off for what they had tried to do to Russians (being Washington's puppets), in an effort to make life miserable in Russia. Evil boomerangs on the evil-doer.

lol this is hilarious. IMO, Socialism makes everyone equally poor by crashing the economy and the leaders get very rich thanks to massive corruption. "Profit is bad for people so we take everyone's money".

The euro exchange rate has just crashed below 1.06$, the lowest exchange rate since 2004. Expecting more fun to follow (gold is also being trashed at the moment).

Now you seem to be crying that it is not Russian business, right? But where you and your government had been before when Europe (egged on by the U.S.) interfered with what is none of their business? Chickens always come home to roost. Show must go on!

It's pure shit seeing your currency get worth less and less.
And it will only gets worse if they keep feeding Greece billions of our money for nothing.
Some days ago I checked the rate, and it was 1.11 and today it dipped even below 1.06....
I never thought I would say this, but I am soo glad I converted a good bit of my EUR into USD a year ago at ~1.3X

Poor greeks aren't responsible for having shitty corrupt governments and living on a global scam economic system to boot. I don't like when people blame the normal people when it's all a small % of corrupt elites.

USDX can hit a 100 mark any time now. 2003 was the last time this index exceeded 100, with an all-time high of 165 in the beginning of 1985. Euro is now close to 1.05 (1.0525 at the moment), and the carnage should definitely continue!
