I asked very simple questions, yet to receive any answers. For the mods benefit, here are the questions again:

Having 6 open topics about the same thing isn't OK. It's not fair to people who read/post other topics, since they'll tend to have a disadvantage when it comes to position in the topics list.

Post the polls in Archival, and lock all of them. Then link to the polls from one topic in Hardware.

Thank you for the explanation and the solution how to do the poll.

However, it raises more questions:

Why not simply to move the poll questions to Archival and ask Philip to change his post ?
Why the aggressive delete without any explanation ?
Are you covering for another mod action with an explanation after the fact ?
Was the deleting was done due to another Dogie complain ?

Yes, spam.  As in a crapflood of unsolicited commercial messages, posted by a single paid minion.

The dictionary and common usage say it's spam.  The admin, staff, and mods say it's spam.  tss and I say it's spam.

Don't turn this into a conspiracy. Why would he be covering? The threads got deleted because posting all those topics when they could be included in one thread is ridiculous.

Why does it matter who deleted them? They got deleted. It shouldn't matter who deleted them. There's a reason why the modlog doesn't show who deleted them.


The issue has been dealt with, theymos gave you a way which he would allow. It's been done and should be forgotten about instead of looking to attack members.

Why would we do that? We get hundreds of reports everyday. We can't -and don't have to- send a message to everybody and explain why their post is considered as spam.

To be fair, I'm planning to upgrade to a SP31/35 (as per the thread wtt request) so not being a total jerk/ingrate in selling/trading it.

The moderation guidelines say:

Topic creation should not be annoying. There should not be too many topics about the same thing in a short time period, and individuals should not post too many topics. "Too many" depends on the quality of the topics.

If an entire page is taken up by Spondoolies reviews, then that's probably too many topics. How this should be handled is more tricky, since I don't want to suppress anyone's honest opinion. We'll see if ckolivas' locking solution is helpful.

btw, it's ok to admit that the moderator action in this case where too rush and severe. Deleting a poll forum members took time to reply is a brutal action by a mod in my book.
Philip did a technical error when setting the poll, Dogie reporting was childish and expected, the mod should have been more cautious.

6a) Which manufacturer pays legendary members who are known to be positive towards their company, to commission and adjudicate polls that are biased towards their company, because they were unhappy with another user's ranking, and then tries to hide that they're actually the company paying for and commissioning them?
6b) Which manufacturer used a preorder model? [can't do this one on the forums, should really be doing this on survey monkey anyway]
6c) Which manufacturer should just be patient and await their perfect '100' score in dogie's rating if they follow through with promises, rather than going through all this and making things worse for themselves?
6d) Which manufacturer should stop trying to drag other's name through the dirt in order to fit a short term agenda, which through the virtue of NDAs can not be discussed, even when the topic / question is directly brought up by themselves?

As I said above, your concentrating on me when I have absolutely nothing to do with it. If I'd gone to bed a bit earlier and not reported the one post, we'd STILL be waking up to this meta thread because your threads STILL would have been deleted.

A mod still would have attended and done the same due to other reports, or a few hours later a patrolling mod would have seen them and done the same.
