That observation is spot on. These days, the more a coin gets trolled, the more you should buy into that coin. No one spends that amount of time and energy on anything if it is not going to bring them some profit.

In other projects it's about big releases in a relatively short time frame. In Neucoin they hope to get an update of the rich-list "this year". That's not just Crypto. It's Zen-Budhism, lessons in patience. It seems to work.

Highly doubt there was a million dollars collected.  it was just for show
to make it look bigger than it was. popularity bias, etc... probably
they made a few thousand bucks after subtracting the costs for
their corporate shells...i'm sure Dan minimized costs by making
pie in the sky promises to programmers as well.

There is no real market for Neucoin, not on the buy-side and not on the sell-side. If you look at Bittrex: Just 3 Bitcoins would be needed to move the price to 3000. The same is true the other way around. If somebody sells Neucoin for a few BTC it goes down hard.

The price can't be stable and is not an indicator in any way. The Volume says more: 0.2 Bitcoin in 24 hours. And that's a diagnosis like "coma" or "brain-dead". Even if the team would keep on with the development, and there isn't a single sign for it, there would be no chance - which is a reason why they don't work on it any more.

Sometimes I read in their forum and I really feel sorry for those who try to show optimism while hiding how angry they are. But it's also obvious that the majority is pretty naive. And some of them lost a lot and if they would have used their Bitcoins smarter they could be rich now.

There still is the problem mentioned in the blog post, i.e., "perpetrators" in foreign countries with depressed economies who are happy to earn a fraction of a dollar an hour to feed their families. They dump the coins as soon as they earn them.

The biggest weakness of neucoin is that it has the appearance of having been made to enrich one person. It would feed the business of Jango, if successful, and distribution would be tailored to the interests of the creator of the coin.

What the coin should do is partner with some recognized charity that works in the 3rd world. That way the perpetrators would be seen as a positive for the coin and people might be inclined to help development, publicity etc.

Um...Jango belongs to Dan Kauffman too...the "one person" that was enriched by the Neucoin scam.  There were no businesses NOT owned by Kauffman interested in NoKoin.
