Spooky. If pirate is related to SR he better be good at becoming invisible because if bitcointalk can figure this out then the DEA and their sister agencies can as well. Furthermore if a link between mtgox and SR becomes provable then the DOJ ban hammer could be coming eventually.

Just about every US bill in circulation has traces of cocaine on it. Doesn't mean anything more or less than does the fact that coins sent to SR eventually end up on MTGox.

That's true, but irrelevant to my comments. If MtGox is processing coins for fiat to SR ringleaders/big volume dealers, then guess who is going to want to know where the wires are going.

I doubt DPR is that stupid. Most SR dealers aren't going to be either. I'd do an OTC trade if I wanted to get my Silk Road profits turned into fiat. Or just buy something I could sell legally for fiat. It's probably safe to say that any coins in Gox's accounts are at least one untraceable transaction - and probably several - away from anyone connected to SR.

I dont know, whether this has happened before but the FAT address just received some freshly created coins from mining (not sure what that means). Look here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=35083.0

or here (2012-08-17 00:33:11): https://blockchain.info/address/1DkyBEKt5S2GDtv7aQw6rQepAvnsRyHoYM

Is it possible to identify the miner?

It's great if you care about what it accomplishes! It seems many don't. I used to promote it heavily, I don't bother anymore. You can lead a horse to water...

do i sense that P2Pool diminishes performance compared to traditional pools?

@ Holliday:

Can you pls give me (noob) some explanation on a couple of things?

- So the FAT address is chosen to receive payouts from the pool in exchange for some hashing power provided by some miner, right?

- Can you identify the miner? Is it necessarily the same person that has control over the FAT address?

- How could this be used for, lets say mixing services (because the amount of "out of the mint"-fresh coins in miniscule)?

Hmm, interesting if that would be the case, 5k BTC is just the amount needed to blow this 5k BTC BID wall to peaces, making way to 11.20$ just nicely.

Interesting, 3 confirmations needed by MtGox before funds can be used.

0 confirms so far..

Look at the receiver address, it was generated exclusively to receive the funds.

Let's wait, it can be another exchange market.

To sabotage and provoke further evidence: Just add some 2k or 3k BTC more to that wall if anybody has that much BTC on MTGox right now!! This way the FAT address has to dispense more BTC to tear down that wall!!

1 confirm and counting

Sold into. Two simultaneous transactions, first for ~350 BTC then ~3650 BTC.
