I'll open a bottle of beer and enjoy life.

(I'd do that anyway.)

Onkel Paul

That is a good idea, i would get away to the beautiful Caribbean by the sea and just chill with my lady and some "bottles" then i would probably choose not to return and just buy me a love shack over there and pretty much do what i am doing now but looking out to the greatness. It would be a perfect life and i am a little sad i am not already there but hold hopes it may come in the next five years with a rise to 1000.

Analyze.
Yes, I will analyze the price, is still the potential to rise? If still going up I will sell part of my bitcoin. If the bitcoin prices reversed course I'll sell all my bitcoin and enjoy life.

I think I would be all in or nothing. I wouldn't just sell off half if it rose a bit, if I really thought it would go higher I would keep saving until I am happy with my profits. I don't think I would ever just sell half

Definitely not now but I really don't have plan in mind on when to sell. Maybe i will continue to hang on and if one day bitcoin has gone mainstream, there is no point in selling and then having to buy back again at higher price.

The general feeling seems to be that $1000 is still a mental barrier. Many people have said they will "sell some" and keep the rest. I suspect enough people would be thinking that way and unless the upward force were so strong we probably wouldn't go much past $1000 line. At least not yet. Next time it hits $1000 it will almost inevitably fall again.

the 1000 $ is not the only barrier we have now, its every round number between here and 1000, and once the 1000 is passed, then the barrier will once again be in our advantage
because people will say , oh the price is 1300$ it may fall a bit, but its not getting below 1000..
If the last bubble didnt happen so fast, we would still be above 1k. this way we just scared away a lot of people, and a lot of people lost nice sums of money

cheers

Profits you say, what so you would cash in back to paper and call that profit?

I will hold this coin until it gets mass adoption or it dies either way i am here until i can no longer be why would you want "profit" when we have a chance to escape the bankers hold.

Each to their own but i would be laughing at the dumpers who cashout if we got to 1000 because this time it would not be a pump but the real deal and you would never be able to get back in with the fake paper profit people want so much.

My advice forget the btc/usd and think big btc/btc/goods/life Wink

TC is the worse thing to happen to default, needs to open his eyes and not jump to conclusions, not everyone lies!!! Anyway as promised I have left, pass word changed to long random which I will forget like that plonker who ruined a perfectly fine account.

Even though we touched it back in 2013, $1000 just seems so far away in 2015... Cry

I know 1 BTC is still equal to 1 BTC, if you never sell, but sometimes being a bag holder is as much mental as it is digital, no matter how much you believe in it...

...

Not long ago I bought my "Last Bitcoins" (well, we´ll see).  From here on I will HODL them (except probably spend some on gold), in which case I would approximately replace the spent BTC by buying some more.  Gold and platinum are the ONLY things I buy with BTC.

I do like how many of you think BIG, even if it takes a while I too think that any of us would be happy to HODL most/all BTC at just $1000 with the hope of selling some at $5000, a few more at $10,000, some more at $50k...

Let´s hope some of us get to meet at The Happy Crypto Pub on Easy Street sometime.  First round´s on me!

Someone in the thread made the point about every round number being a psychological one. When the price hits $300 again, it'll drop some, but then if it breaks $300, it'll rise to $400, and then drop some. Making some basic trades on this to grow a larger position. Start with bitcoin at $250, it rises to $300, sell it, it drops to $275, you buy, it rises to $300, sell it, it drops to $275, you buy, it rises to $400, you sell, it drops to $350, you buy. Each time, you're growing the total number of bitcoin you have on the same investment.

Naturally, it's hard to time these things. But you can analyze previous "round numbers" to get an idea. People like clean numbers. It's why people will leave $5.08 on a $20.92 credit card bill just so they can round up. It makes no difference, but hey ... It makes them feel better.

Tragically, none of us are free from this miserable existence until all of us are.  A few slaves gaining their freedom through bitcoin doesn't solve the problem that is capitalism.

Remember Aaron Swartz, a 26 year old computer scientist who died defending the free flow of information.
