In paper SA is better team than SriLanka, but in the ground its not easy to play against SriLanka, Sri Lanka's win-loss record against South Africa in ODIs between the two teams since the last World Cup is 7-6. In this 13 match 8 of them won by the team who batted first. Also SriLanka have a good bowlers like Malinga and speedy sensation Dushmantha Chameera. Batsmans like Kumar Sangakkara, Dilshan, Jayawardene etc. they all performed better than SA players in this world cup. So I am going with SriLanka now, and I will take SA when the odds get high.

If that is the case, then the bookmaker did a very good job! I have worked in the industry and when someone decides to push out the odds on a team they are basically sticking their heads out and it could very easily backfire. Making SL longer odds against South Africa was pretty brave but will have reaped them the rewards they were after. I may be aftertiming, but I fancied the Saffas, their batting just seems more explosive to me. |
