......... How much more secure is my wallet at home which is running on my PC when a wallet with 7000 coins in it - presumably kept safe by smart people - gets stolen? Yes, targeting a 7000 BTC worth wallet is more lucrative than mine, but still.
I suspect it was an inside job, and the smart people who should have been keeping the cold wallet safe robbed it themselves. I though about it too and many others on the forums as well. I'd say let's wait and see what happens. We don't have to assume the worst at first. Usually the worst is likely to be the right answer.

Bitstamp hacked and price dropped from 300 to 200 usd
Bter hacked Hongkong government blocked bitcoin investing and 328M $ may decrease from bitcoin market OkCoin scammed 5M Usd worth of btc
And yeah its a good year for bitcoin
I am not telling bitcoin is not secure even banks get hacked too. The problem is who is in the game after these much good news.
Bter, bitstamp and.. Wallets were secure enough. The problem is anything is possible to getting hacked but can they revoke stolen money? I guess not. So what if they want to buy back with half price..

A purpose of cold wallet is to be disconnected (better never connected) on internet. I think they had created the cold wallet in the worst way.

Asked them how long - they replied they don't know yet. Asked them if BTS is affected, they ignored question. Doesn't smell good if you ask me.

Who knows how many bitcoins does Bter have in the hot wallets, i.e. at their disposal right now? This wallet belongs to Bter (100%) and has a total balance of 130 BTC at the moment... The balance increased to 140 BTC. It seems they are consolidating the dust from their wallets... Or run the exchange secretly!

It dropped from 265 to 230 after hack if you didn't know. I think this site is scam.

It dropped from 265 to 230 after hack if you didn't know. The drop was due to a natural correction, though the fear helped.

What a bad handling of delicate situation! No update, no word for over 2 days, nothing! I mean Jesus, there is at least 7000 BTC worth of ALTs in their wallets. That is other peoples' money and they don't write a single word for over 2 days!
