I heard they were looking for offers in the region of 2k BTC as that's their annual revenue.
Second-hand info so don't go quoting me. If you're really interested, you could email them asking for a price tag Smiley (which is what the person I got this from did)

They probably started off offering a high price because they expected to have to haggle. It would be interesting if someone emailed them asking for a price, then only offered 500 bitcoins. They would probably immediately drop their asking price to 1K bitcoins.

It's a buyers market. I'd be very surprised if they got a decent sum for it. Who'd want to take on that debt/reputation?

IMHO 2k BTC is a reasonable price, it's pocket money for many investors.

It may well be, but don't forget that Bitcoin is officially banned in China (for companies, at least).

Maybe the hack was a follow up on that. Their way of closing business. But if they are reopening, then that would be void.

And how do you guys know if their annual revenue is around 2k BTC  ?

It is a simple "avarage" of all the fees collected in one year, but no one have the source of the "real" revenue of them. However I've checked their twitter account and their last tweet it is the same (https://twitter.com/btercom/status/570521111865139200).

They are also said to have heavily invested in the nxt coin (one of the reasons that want to open withdrawals for it before other altcoins).

Bitcoin is on the rise and Doge is on the fall, profits are missed and losses are accumulated.

We should buy bter.com
We can place a coin 'bter' with perhaps 3 Million coins and trade this.
All fees are going to the holders of the coins.
And we should make some roles. Like: Nobody is allowed to hold more then 5 %.
And we can take the altcoins what we want:elections
For the cold wallet we buy real gold.
We can trade other things like forests or what we want ...

Our funds are frozen at bter right now. As Bitcoin becomes stronger this very moment, bter bitcoin holders can't fix their gains. As Doge weakens at the same time, bter dogecoin holders can't cut their losses.

The USD withdrawal is enabled.

In my opinion they should open CNY/USD trading.

If they are to open CNY/USD trading, why not allow trading other currencies as well?
usd trading was stoped before steled btc, since january for Trouble with egopay

I never registered for USD withdrawals, but I checked if it's possible, and the only withdrawal method I can see is by egopay. There is a drop down list with only one option saying "egopay (fee 0%)". Isn't egopay closed since they were hacked?
egopay not closed

I still can't make up my mind of whether it's reasonable to withdraw USD from Bter to egopay in the current situation. Both can disappear at any time (or they could be forced into formal bankruptcy) and perhaps Bter will eventually reopen one of the USD markets or offer a second withdrawal option.

I know athat quite a few big exchanges lost a lot of money when egopay was hacked. Did egopay ever pay any of them back? The last thing I heard was none of them had been paid anything back. If that's still true then there is a big risk they could be forced into formal bankruptcy.

We have handled a large volume of CNY and USD withdrawals and we are going to handle the altcoins in the next step.
