I think Bter just needs more time to do what they have promised. I still trust them. They said they will phase the withdrawal of deposits in there exchange. So far we can withdraw USD, CNY, and NXT assets. They have delivered what they have promised. Can you imagine what a miserable theft they just experienced at their point of view! Why not spare them some more time to fix the potential issues? Probably you have a chunk of deposit there and just throw away what you are thinking! Never mind! Time will tell everything!

They promissed to open withdraw of NXT (around 700 btc worth coins or so) not NXT assets 2 weeks ago.

I left a lot on bter and discuss at least make me feel a little better than keep thinking about they stole half year of trading profit Smiley
Anyway our posts here doasn't not change anything.

PS. There are always chances for sure that owner of Bter is just an idiots, but with experience with a lot of scam/hypes/ponzy closing office is the end...

That's sure , they do not know how to set up a properly cold wallet*. The possibility of an inside job is very high but I do not like to "think" that this option is the truth.

They probably closed it to stop irate customers visiting them. Mt Gox moved offices when customers started protesting outside.

im not really sure about this, but is there any known way or speculation on how to "hack" a cold wallet? if there isnt , then there is no options but to believe that this is an inside job, still i'll give them the benefit of doubt since they promised about the withdrawal

If all their employers are honest and they didn't share any private keys it is impossible to hack a cold wallet. The cold wallet supposed to be "offline" and no one can hack a pc and that pc/device is offline and it has been never connected on the internet.

Guys, please stop discussing the cold vs hot wallet issue. It has already been talked about earlier in this thread. I simply don't know what else can be added to what has been said before on this issue.

I don't need to know Chinese, chrome has Live translation. I don't need everyone to know English, just a few followers, BTER operators surely knows English.

After they don't reply to you (or just write you a come-off as they seem to take special pleasure in), you will get even more frustrated. In any case, this won't change anything.

You can live chat with one of their customer support team (ask for Lily, who knows English, if you don't want to get by on Google translate). There's a QQ link on their site.
This won't give you information that isn't otherwise available, but if you're concerned about the status of a withdrawal it may be reassuring.

Maybe you are right and I should not contact them on their weibo page but I'm very tired and I do not know what I should do know  Undecided. What do you think , will they reimburse for sure at 100%? or will it turn in a complete/partial (altcoins) scam from them?

In fact, I have already answered this question before (just after bter had been hacked). It doesn't matter if they return the funds in the end or not, you should consider your money at bter as wasted at the moment unless you can actually do something about this thing (hire an assassin, for example). But since you are here, it seems that you can do nothing but just reconcile yourself to the loss.

I "donated" around 3.5 btc to bter if this somehow alleviates your sufferings.

From the first incidence of the stolen btc, we should fully realize their sloppy security level and leave there Now far severe incidence happened again, which causes the downfall of entire business. Now they state they will rebuild their website. What were they doing when the first incidence occurred? I doubt there will be anyone who will trust them again?

Those who trusted them after the first time (after the "nxt job" in August, 2014) will obviously do it again. Bter was a good exchange after all (in respect to trading, at least), with good market liquidity, really fast deposits and withdrawals.

I submitted a CNY withdrawal on Feb 25th. On Feb 27th the status on Bter.com was updated to say the withdrawal was "Complete" (in Chinese) and with an exact timestamp on Feb 27. Nothing appeared in the bank account so I sent them an email on Mar 1. Their first reply ignored my issue entirely. I asked them again on Mar 3 and this was the reply:

Quote
Dear Sir,
The cny has been returned to you.

If you want to withdraw cny, your account must be switched to the Chinese account.

Then you may go through the identity verification process.

Then your real name will display on the Recipient field when you withdraw. You may withdraw cny to the bank account under your name.

If you want to switch to the Chinese account, please let me know

Best Regards
BTER.COM

After this the CNY appear in my Bter account again. So their system said the withdrawal was "Complete" with an exact withdrawal time even though they never attempted to send it. Sounds like a classic case of stalling, right? Make a fake withdrawal status so the person waits a week thinking everything is ok. And when they find out it was fake make them go through their ID verification which probably takes another week at least.

How long does it take to enable altcoin withdrawals? 2 weeks? 3 weeks? A month? Bter is very good at saying "everything will be ok in one week". Same thing Mintpal did.
